hey guys,
just a question, i have been playing a lot of FM over the years and have never had an issue that i couldnt work out myself...until now.
i have a really good regen wonderkid striker. by 18 he was regular in my first team and finished top scorer in premier league. the story is much the same when he is 19, but all the way through he has been offside more than 2 times as much as any other striker in the league (including my other strikers played in same position)
does anyone have any tips as to how i can keep him onside? i like him sitting on the shoulder of the defenders, which is how he gets most of his goals, but a lot of the time he will sit too far forward or the defence will push up and he will just sit there offside like a larry.

I do not know how all the stats works in the game but could it be that his positioning is terrible due to his measly 4 in the positioning stat? I have only really looked at it for defenders when I sign somebody but perhaps strikers are affected to?

as far as i know positioning has little affect on strikers. plus i have Carlos Fierro who has 3 positioning and he isnt often offside at all. i might be wrong but the amount of strikers who are amazing and yet have almost no positioning says to me that its not important

Make him learn to beat the offside trap and knock the ball PPM and see how much more this guy scores.

ok he now has both knock past and beat offside trap. he is actually offside more now.

There's nothing in the player stats that indicate that he will get more offsides. In fact, the opposite is there: he has anticipation, off the ball, decisions and they will increase because of his age.

Maybe you have to work the tactic. What happens with the other players?

Btw, can you say what's the skin? I like the profile with so many information

It's just the dark default skin.. get a bigger screen if you want more information displayed ;)

yeah what he said.

also if you look it says that it doesnt happen with anyone else. so its not the tactic. plus im wary of changing it because at 19 he is scoring more than he is playing, so he is doing amazing, i just think he would score more if he wasnt always offside. it wont be off the ball. at 17 surely he shouldnt be offside this much, his decisions wont rele affect it as far as i know. anticipation though...maybe. anybody know a quicker way to improve this than just "experience"
