Everton are a mid table team with one outstanding player, Baines. Or at least that's what I thought. I decided to try them as my first save on FM14 and am really really glad that I did. I am in my second season and am absolutely loving it.

Here's why:
  1. Baines is brilliant
  2. They have some of the best young English talent in Barkley (A regular starter), Ledson (wonderkid in the real essence of the word) and Stones who just needs a season loan before he's good enough to be a rotation option.
  3. Decent budget- ?13m in the first season, I had ?20m in the second
  4. Decent strikers from the start in Lukaku, Kone and Jelavic
  5. A good young keeper in Joel
Post your experiences/opinions/questions below!

what i did 1. season. Sold Baines 31m and mirralas 24m both cool cash Arsenal and Monaco:)

I started a season with Everton, kept Baines & Mirallas obviously as i wanted to challenge for top four and get champions league football, signed a couple of world young players, finished 4th in my first season won capital one cup also, had a transfer budget of 17k next season & started a new game, started with Southampton instead, similar team with similar targets and a world youth system, also have alot of money to spend in the second season.

i am struggling like mad with my Everton team, fierro and barbosa ,diego honda balanta in my team and still struggling!

I signed three out of the five players you've mentioned (Balanta, Barbosa, Honda) and I done very well, like i mentioned top four and Capital One Cup winners.

OP here: In my first season I came second in BPL but did poorly everywhere else. I sold Mirrallas and all other wide players as I play a narrow formation. I signed Akinfeev (Well worth the 6.5m), Miranda and Robert Pererya plus a couple of younger Argentinians.

Once I grow tired with my current game this is my next challenge. Had a great Everton game going on FM13 and won everything with them eventually naming a new stadium after me ^^)

I'm really struggling with my Everton save. First season I had 8m (I think) and only 2.5m second season, even after selling Mirallas for 14M (only 25% of it came to me). Managed to sign Akinfeev and a couple of decent loans (Jovetic and Holtby) yet I am still struggling to get away from the midtable position (finished around 13th in the first as well).

Barkley is a beast though, and Baines and Distin are my best performers. Impossible to get any of my strikers to score though and I concede far too many goals in the last few minutes. Annoying :(

I'm playing as Everton now. Anyone else Noticed Joel's Free Kick stat? Its 17.

I play Howard, but I have Joel as my back-up. I figured that he'd barely ever play, so I made Joel my first choice set piece taker as a laugh. Howard picked up a concussion in training after my first league game.

39 mins into the match Lukaku just fell over 20 yards out, dead middle of the goals. I had forgot that Joel was playing and was my kick taker. He just stepped up, bent it around the wall and into the top corner!

I jumped up out of my chair and cheered. Haha

I am playing everton now. Actually, I am a Everton fans. I love using wings in my tactic.

Deulofeu and Mirallas are good wings, but deulofeu is inconsistent. So I bought Quaresma and he played really well. Besides, I used Baines and Coleman as attacking full backs. Both flanks are very effective.

Mid-season right now, got win in both derby matches and win over Man Utd, 3rd position now.

yeah i noticed Joel free kick stat so made him my first team keeper so he could take my free kicks but was thinking if he just smashed one at the wall then i was screwed lol so got Honda as you can get him for like a mil as compensation and decided to buy him now instead of waiting for his contract to expire. Also signed Kieran Gibbs for ?12m, Michael Essien for ?5m, Balanta for ?11.5m, Reveillere on a free and Juan Arnago for 950k but sold Leighton Baines to Arsenal for ?35m spent ?34.2m and made ?35m so profit of 800k about to play first game v Hull lets hope we can win

I started with Everton too. First thing was sold baines as he requested transfer, got 35m for him. Replaced him with Alex Sandro who has been a revelation. Also signed Defoe, Shawcross, Jonathan dos santos and David Ospina, finished 4th and won the league cup. Second season not so great but in top 10, signed ruddy, Townsend, vadillo, Rhodes and flamini, but most impressive I thought was my loan acquisition of Andre schurrle and the free transfer signing of victor valdes. Sold mirallas for 15m at start of second season too

It?s a good start, but I?m a Liverpool fan so I won?t use it, but it?s a very nice option

I've been using Everton for a while, but with FM14's transfer system revamp, you're able to make quite the good amount of money.
I was against it at first, but then sold Baines to Arsenal for 40 mil, Mirallas to Monaco for 30 mil (the trick is to find the right amount to offer to clubs). Jelavic goes at 10 mil to Southhampton, Vellios at 2 mil to Crytal Palace.
- Bought Corchia, Zieler, Doria, Felipe Gutierrez, Tomas Martinez, Jay Rodriguez, Romero, Savic, Douglas Costa, and Clyne
- Loaned out Werner starting W/IF - 15 goals 10 assists
- Loaned out Januzaj who eventually gets the F9 start - 15 assists in half a season
- 2nd half bought Morrison (wonderkid) - 10 goals 8 assists coming off the bench
- Lukaku = MONSTER = 25 goals 5 assist
- Deulofeu eternal starter - 13 goals 9 assists (though after such a great season Barca wasn't interested in selling him)
- Barkley becomes my genius AP - 9 goals 24 assists in one seasoon (Man City is now offering 35+ mil for him - NO WAY!!)
- Stones goes on loan returns decent

I'm all about destructing and reconstructing (if I have the capital). Fortunately for me, the team I love using now has that ability.
