Hey. This is going to be my first story. I have been reading others for a while now.. and i thought why not do one myself... I'm not sure what to have as the title... so if anyone has anything better... Fill me in ;)

6 Hours Later​

Nathaniel Gamble is the new name being spoken around the Dw stadium. Everyone was awaiting the unveiling of Alan Shearer, only to hear that Nathaniel Gamble was the new name for the job. Wigan fans are optimistic about the decision, but are hopeful he can lead them into a top 10 finish this season.​

It is rumoured that Nathaniel Gamble has been given a transfer budget of only 5.75m to guide Wigan Athletic into a top half finish. ​

Nathaniel, how do you feel about taking over from Roberto here at the DW?​


It is really a dream come true. It is not often you get to start your managing career at such a high reputation club. I know there will be a lot of pressure for me to deliver this season thought, but i hope that I can deliver the top 10 finish the board and fans want.​

How do you feel Roberto has left the team? Is the bunch of players you have good enough for the top half finish you desire?

I feel that there is a good bunch of lads here, and the chemistry is strong. I will bring in some experienced players and some youth to help build a solid team which features a variety of different players.

We are to believed that you have only been giving 5.75m for this season. Is this correct?

It is. 5.75m may not sound a lot. but there are many players here already that are capable to play a high level of football, so I wont have to spend much of that budget anyway.​

Debut Signing: Nathaniel Gamble has taken his first move in the Transfer market as Wigan Athletic manager. With the sale of Mario Melchiot to Atletico Madrid for 1.3m. Gamble didn't hesitate to delve into that money and sign Marek Matejovsky from Reading for a deal believed to be around 2.5m. ​

Surprise around the DW stadium today as Nathaniel Gamble unveils his biggest signing yet. A 2.5m deal taking Bayern's Luca Toni to England may be somewhat a fantastic piece of business. Despite the cheap 2.5m for the out of favour striker, a huge chunk of the wage budget is believed to have been put forward to acquire his services. ​

August 2009 Overview


Wigan 3-1 Stoke​

Fantastic Start to the league. Confidence was high, we outplayed them. Overall, I was very happy with the opening game. - Rodallega x2 , Matejovsky

Portsmouth 4-0 Wigan​

After such a bright start, I played Luca Toni instead of Rodallega and we got thrashed. They outplayed us start to finish, in a game i expected us to win. Disappointing.

Wigan 0-4 Arsenal​

I didn't expect to win the game, but I didn't expect to play poorly again. Another disappointing defeat.

Wigan 2-1 Rochdale AET​

A game which i thought we would stroll through, took a unwanted twist after just 5 minutes when they took the lead. It took until the second half for us to get level and then a Matejovsky free kick deep into extra time to send us through. - Rodallega, Matejovsky

Man City 2-1 Wigan​

i didn't expect to get a result. But it was a completely different game to watch. We pressured from start to finish and ended up unlucky to lose. If that wasn't a consolation, Luca Toni finally found the back of the net! - Toni

Overview​

At the end of the month, I am not to pleased.. After such a positive start, then successive defeats and nearly a shock in the League cup. Something has to change.
