Will not allow injury replacement in GB U/23 squad! Game stuck HELP

Hi,
I'm managing GB U/23s and Chris Smalling got injured in a pre Olympic friendly. The game has prompted me to replace him and directs me to the national pool screen. When I try to select the player I want to replace him it says "GB squad full", so I look at my squad an Smalling's place has already been filled by a 19 yeaar old GK who's named is ghosted - faint compared to other player's names. When I go on this mystert player's profile there's no option to remove him at all. On top of this the game will not advance without me selecting a replacement for Smalling, which I can't do.

Any suggestions as to how to sort this without starting my entire game over again? Cheers,

My brother had this problem when he was managing Uruguay. There were only 4 goalkeepers from Uruguay and he needed to pick 3 but 2 were injured. To overcome this, he just went on holiday for a few days.
