windowed mode

i have been using an older pc which fm has said my game speed is either 1/2 or 1 star. is this why i cant select window mode?
i'm upgrading this weekend to a brand new pc that has 8 gb ram instead of 1 gb and a much better processor.
am i right to assume that this will make the game speed much higher and windowed mode a possibility?

Im pretty sure you can use window mode on any type of computer.
