Wolverhampton Wanderers
This is my first attempt at creating a game story so please leave any suggestions below and I will try to take as many on board as possible to improve wherever I can.
So..... Primary aim of this is obvious, guide Wolverhampton Wanderers back to the premiership and beyond.

A comfortable start to pre-season in a game in which we dominated throughout. Henry scored direct from a free kick on 7 minutes shortly before being withdrawn having picked up a knock. Vellios had a cracking debut scoring after 24 minutes with a headed corner before he made a goal, taking the corner in the 75th minute and put the ball on Stearmans head. This was enough to earn him the man of the match on his first appearance.
View attachment 392206 Another win in pre-season and a very good performance to go with it, Dicko Opened the scoring on 8 minutes with Vellios getting to the byline and squaring the ball over for an easy tap in. In the 54th minute Ricketts floated the ball in to the area for vellios to rise above the defence to head in at the far post. In the 73rd minute almost a carbon copy of the first goal and Dicko rounded of a great day with a great hat-trick and an individual piece of skill to grab the third.
View attachment 392205 A game in which we didn't play that well at all and really were quite lucky to come out with a victory, Sako scored just before half time after a nice bit of possession in Carmarthens Half. Dicko from a cross delivered by Isgrove just before full time, Isgrove picking up his first assist and man of the match in what in truth was a flat game.
View attachment 392204 A slightly disappointing end to a generally positive pre-season however we weren't over run by a team with more quality, it was a tight game and we were unlucky, the only goal being scored just before half time from a long range shot that gave the keeper no chance.
View attachment 392198 The transfer window didn't prove to be that busy, sending out 5 young players on loan to gain some first team experience. I am very pleased however with my purchases, Vellios on loan from everton looked like a great player in pre-season and could be the catalyst to a successful campaign. I signed isgrove from southampton as cover for the first team, he is still young and should be a great player in the future.
Not exactly the start i had hoped for and i am certainly disappointed to be knocked out of the capital one cup at the first hurdle, especially on penalties in a game we just couldn't finish off.
Preston 1 -1 Wolves
View attachment 392188 All in all this was a very tight and even game where the draw was a fair result, Preston took a very early lead and actually completely dominated the opening half however it was nice to get a goal and the end of the first half, Isgrove scoring on his debut and the assist coming from a pass at the end of a weaving run from Vellios.
Wolves 2 - 2 Shrewsbury
(Shrewsbury win 4-3 on Pens)
View attachment 392187 A very disappointing loss in the first round of the cup, in truth we didn't deserve anymore than the loss we got, going behind 3 times and coming back. Isgrove had a mother good game pitching in with a goal and an a assist but all in all, less said about this game the better.
Wolves 3 - 2 Gillingham

The scoreline in this match looks closer than the match panned out as we dominated the entire match apart from the final 10 minutes as they scored two goals due to poor defensive mistake leading me to worry about the defense. Rickets scored early on after some good possesion around there area which was nicely finished off after Isgrove played an eye of the needle pass through the area. Dicko and Clarke pitched in also and it was pleasing to get my first league win of the season.
Bristol City 2 - 0 Wolves

Not a lot to say about this match, i hope it was a one off awful performance, we didn't even manage to register a shot in this match and a steady performance by them led them to a very easy win.
Wolves 1 - 1 Crawley
View attachment 392184 It was disappointing to concede late on this match as we played well all the way through, ended up being punished for not being clinic enough in front of goal. Vellios however did score another goal and setup by another assist by Isgrove, the two new signing linking very well so early in the season is pleasing to see.
Port Vale 1 - 3 Wolves
View attachment 392183 Certainly was good to finish off the month of august with a victory over a decent side like Port Vale. They gave us a helping hand on the half hour mark and from there we just kicked on, Vellios and Isgrove linking up yet again for the second, and rounded off with a nice header from a Sako corner.
They did score a scrappy goal late on but the points were in the bag by then.

He has had a great start to the season pitching in with 2 goals and 4 assists.
If he continues to perform like this he will be working his way to a regular starter.
After a first half that was quite evenly matched, we got better after half time and made the victory quite comfortable, Vellios scored with a nice header after rickets made the run down the right wing and crossed to the near post and this was shortly followed up by a Dicko goal from a nice individual run into the box, its pleasing to have both strikers firing so early in the season. However the result was slightly tainted by the injury to Lloyd Isgrove, our former player of the month will be sidelined for 6 weeks.
Wolves 4 - 2 Walsall
View attachment 392152 Was a good win for a derby match with my two forwards bang in form again. Dicko put us ahead with an early goal with a tidy finish inside the area which was shortly followed by yet another Vellios header, the combination of Vellios with Ricketts Crossing in the ball is proving to be lethal. Just into the second half they hit me with 2 goals on the counter attack, i thought it was going to be one of those days but then James Henry was tripped in the box and stood to convert the penalty, Dicko rounded of a good performance and a good win in the 87th minute with another nice finish which earn him the man of the match award.
Shrewsbury 0 - 1 Wolves
View attachment 392151 This was a very flat game from start to finish with both teams managing only a few attempts on the others goal.
I thought it was destined for a bore draw when Dicko was hacked down going for goal, this gave Edwards the opportunity to step up in injury time and keep the run of wins going.
This proved to be a very end to end and open game, which is why I am surprised that all 3 goals game from headed corners, however we still got the job done and we move on into October in a health position.
League Table
View attachment 392149 There we sitting pretty at the top of the table after an perfect month. Look at Coventry after starting with -10 points

The award has to go to young Nouha Dicko, scoring 3 in 4 games this month was a contributing factor in a good month and long may this form continue.
