have been a huge fan of this series since the oldschool CM 98 days, when players had about 5 stats. To the Epic CM 01/02, which is still updated to this day.
Being a huge fan i have always looked for the best challenge i could do, the most realistic. Thanks to the newer FM games we could manager in The Blue Square Leagues. Buit this was still unrealistic to me because i will never get a job that high in real life lol.
Now thanks to Superbladesman, we can start FM at teir 10 in English football. I am new to this forum, but due to the Epic nature of this challenge i wanted somewhere to jot down my progress.
My challenge is to take a club from teir 10, to the Football League, who knows maybe reach the Premiership!
I would also like feedback from people who have also taken up this challenge.

THE STORY
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic Football Club are a football club based in the Worsborough area of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. Currently the club are members of the Northern Counties East League Division One for the 2010-11 season.
The club was founded as Worsbrough Bridge Miners Welfare in 1923. They joined the Yorkshire Football League Division Three in 1971, and became founder members of the Northern Counties East League when the Yorkshire League merged with the Midland Counties League in 1982.

THE DATABASE
I have selected a large database, with top clubs selected from every continent in the world.
I have also selected add key staff, and no attribute masking.
My favourite team is Barnsley FC, and previous experience a sunday league footballer.

PRE-SEASON CAMPAIGN
After a brief report from my assistant manager, and him telling me we needed to strengthen the squad if we were to get promotion, i fired him lol. This was so i could fetch in one of my ex favourite Barnsley FC defenders Steve Chettle in his place.
Chettle was followed by the signings of youngster Luke Sinclaire, ex Barnsley striker Mike Turner, and Barnsley's premiership season midfield playmaker Martin Bullock.
In order to bring some much needed finance into the club i arranged 5 friendlies abroad..
Hanover Park
Boo-Kyong High School
Kickers (AFG)
Markt St. Martin
Vitosha

After a team report from Chettle, i decided that we were to fetch a new team in if we were to get promotion. So the following signings were fetched in....
Stephen Halliday (ex Hartlepool striker)
Sean Flynn (ex Coventry Premiership midfielder)
Paul Harkness (Youngster)
Wes Simpson (ex Northwich defender)
Richard McNeil (Striker who has got 42 welsh premiership goals)
Ben Manning (Youngster)
Phil Thompson (ex Blackpool defender)
Kyle Buckley (Youngster)
Keith Wedge (Youngster)
We have also signed Scottish coach Peter Davidson, to partner Steve Chettle
.

The squad played very well in our pre-season friendlies playing 6, wining 2, Drawing 1, Losing 3. But the squad played well in all the games against good opposition.
Check the results HERE.

We are now looking forward to getting the league underway, and will post an update very shortly......

OCTOBER/NOVEMBER
Very upsetting for us this month due to our top 5 players left for paid contracts, Martin Bullock joining Nuneaton, Stephen Halliday joining Harrogate Railway, Sean Flynn joining Dulwich Hamlet, Richard McNeil joining Dereham, and Mike Turner leaving for Dunston UTS.
A real dissapointment this too as Turner and Halliday had 13 league goals between them already and Flynn and Bullock were an important part of the midfield.

We had to act immedietly to fetch in replacements, or we would have been left in the lurch. as we had lost 3 strikers i fetched in....
Neil Ross (27 year old striker who had stints at Birmingham, Leeds and Stockport as a youth).
Mark Ward (27 year old striker playing at Sheff Utd and Lincoln as a youth).
Gary Ricketts (34 year old Hucknall striker).
We also fetched in James Stansfield (Defender who's played at Halifax), Craig Heard (Youth winger from Harrogate), and Colin Mcallister (a young defender who has played at Stockport).

Another ok couple of months, still in 4th position. But we could reall do with stringing a run of games together over Christmas and the New Year, and hopefully see in the new year as league leaders. Northern Counties East Div 1.

REVIEW OF PERIOD
As i said before, were really gutted about the players leaving us. But we did have Ricketts come in and score a hatrick on his debut.
Overall were happy again as we have recorded some good 3-0 wins.
Our top 3 players for the month are as follows..
1 Ross Alexander (has been solid so far this season, a rock in our defence)
2 Cashell Walters (Quality, has to be the best full back in our tier)
3 Gary Ricketts (only played 2 games but made an instant impact upfront. Got a hatrick on his debut, overall scored 4 in 2 games. Really looking forward to having him here)

Hopefully looking at top of the league by the New Year.

Will update shortly.........

deffo going to follow this one Martin Bullock eh? remember him in one of my first games i ever watched against Blackpool i thought he retired anyway mate goodluck

I thought he had retired too, was ace when i saw him on the free transfer list lol.
This new striker i have Ricketts looks like he will get a few, until a bigger club comes poaching.

lol yeh i would have been i liked him lol with skinhead and that lol

Dec 09, after our last 2 league wins....We Are Top The League, A Said We Are Top The League lol

DECEMBER/JANUARY/FEBRUARY
We got off to a flyer in December, getting 2 league wins in a row and hitting top spot for the first time of the season. This didnt last long though as our form hit a sour spot. Also we lost 3 more of our first team, Phil Thompson (Redhill), Luke Sinclair (Heanor), Paul Harkness (Oldham Borough), and Wes Simpson (Hendon).

We immedietly delved into the transfer market signing.........
Alex Price (Young midfielder from Solihull Moors).
Craig Davies (Young striker from Vauxhall).
Steve Hollis (experienced full back from Droylsden).
Harry Winter (Young midfielder from Northwich).
Nathan Jarman ( class striker who spent his youth days at Barnsley, before joining Grimsby. Really happy with this signing).
Chris Lucketti (Experienced centre half who played at Sheff Utd and Preston).
Andy Liddell (Experienced winger who has played for Barnsley, Oldham and Rotherham. Another one of my old BFC fave's).
Simon Travis (Experienced full back who played for Stockport in their Championship days.)

REVIEW OF PERIOD
After hitting top spot, then letting it slip, we had to bolster the squad. After a couple of decent signing's,Jarman, Liddell and Lucketti came along.
This period has also seen me in the papers, speculating about the Maidenhead job.
If we can manage to keep hold of this squad now till the end of the season, i think we will win the league. At the minute we are 3rd with a 6 point gap between us and the leaders.

My next update will be at the end of the season........

MARCH/APRIL/MAY
Lost 3 more first team players this period. All this was over shadowed by our promotion!
We didnt win the league, but finishing 2nd and winning our play-off final was good enough for us.
The players leaving us were, Steve Hollis (Heybridge), Mark Ward (Horsham), and Gary Rickkets (Redbridge).

SEASON ROUND UP
Abselutely fabulous season for us, especially after the critics said we were not contenders for promotion. The board are very very happy with me, and beleive i am one of the best managers around lol. I have also done very well financially, earning the club £30 000+ this season.
Our player of the year was Ben Manning, our young full back made 34 appearances with an average rating of 6.97. Scoring 3 goals, assisting 3, and getting 3 man of the match awards.
We have had some good players who have gone on to leave throughout the season, particularly Martin Bullock, Mike Turner, Steve Halliday, Sean Flynn and Mark Ward.
We still have a good squad to go up with, and a big bonus is our new signing Barry Hayles, who needs no introduction.
Promotion 1.
Promotion 2.

Best 11.

I will update at the end of pre-season 2010/2011.......

PRE-SEASON SEASON 2

To continue our growing bank acount i arranged friendlies abroad again. The club have decided to become semi-pro this season, so i have been able to sign all my players on to part time contract's. So no bigger clubs stealing for free from now on.
There have been no new signings fetched in pre-season, but i have been offered a new contract, which i signed happilly. The chairman was delighted with me.
According to the boomaker's we are joint favourite's to win the league.

PRE SEASON REPORT
A great pre-season start from the squad, especially Nathan Jarman. I decided not to make any signings up to now because i want to see how my squad fares against other teams in the league before i make a judgement.
Looking forward to the season, will update shortly........

We only made 1 signing in this period, as i felt our squad was more than adequat to do the job. The signing we did make was ex Barnet midfielder Vinny Freeman. After our pre-season league pediction of 1st, we couldnt wait to get going....
