I have decided to start a new challenge one which i haven't seen done before.

1. I will be starting off as a 22 year old manager, with only a National A Coaching License

2. I will then randomly chose a Championship side with Superb Youth Facilities. This was between; Blackburn, Derby, Ipswich, Watford and Wolves.

3. I can then only use/sign players that are younger than my manager (31/12/1991). Therefore will have to try sell everyone over that age currently at the club.

4. The main focus will be to try and develop players through the academy, with the majority of my squad being English. Although am most likely going to have to look for foreign talent to begin with due to the general overpricing of English players.

The team i was given after the random generator was;

Interesting concept mate! Also, great choice of 22/4 as the birthday, best day of the year for it...

Cheers man. Although is looking as though it might be a lot more difficult than i first thought! But should make an interesting challenge.

Yeah just put my Bday in but in hindsight should have put 31st December, so i might change that before i properly start later.

If you develop a 16/17 yr old English player and they go on to be a world class player, are you then going to have to sell up when they reach 22? If so that will be extremely difficult, specially as GK's don't normally peak until late 20's. Good luck, I will be following!

No, because I (manager) will also be ageing, so it basically means i can only use/sign players born in 1992 or later. So all regens will be fine.

Haha what a rookie error, of course you are going to age. Oh dear, I clearly need more coffee :)

August Update

Transfers

Well i was given 0 transfer budget at the start and despite having all the players too old for the challenge on the unwanted list - set to sell at any price. None of them have been sold, and have been continuously offering them to clubs at the same time! Therefore i have only been able to bring players in on loan, whilst having my clubs most expensive players sat in the reserves, losing value!

Having no transfer budget also meant that there were a number of players i couldnt sign, even on loan!

Here are the players brought in on loan:

This challenge is proving to be a lot more difficult than i anticipated, mainly because i had no transfer money and was unable to shift any players at all!

I will stick with the challenge for the season and see how it goes. My aim will be to avoid relegation and the sack if possible! Will be hard as the majority of my playing squad are at league 1 level but will see hoe it goes!

It is going to be a very tough challenge for you mate but at least you done it at one of the Champ sides even though i reckon Brighton could have also been a good choice! lol

Unfortunately they didn't have superb youth facilities haha. I am tempted to restart this with a different team before i go any further, only because i have been unable to do anything really with the financial constraints and inability to sell any of my players.

Anyone have any team suggestions? would prefer to use either a Championship side or Crewe (league 1)

Middlesborough? they always come up with **** good regens on my saves.

Pack your midfield and hit on the break. 4-4-2 with an under developed squad is asking for trouble. Once your players develop then you will be able to play a more attacking formation but if most of your players are league 1 standard you are going to have to scrap at first.

Also by having 2 defensive forwards and 2 defensive wingers you are putting way too much pressure on Saville for creativity.

I would play with a solid midfield 3 (maybe even one of them set as a DM) and push your wingers up and play with 1 up front. set one of your CM's as a roaming playmaker(saville if he is the most creative). If your wingers have any pace about them use the settings for direct passing, pass in to space and clear ball to flanks. My QPR story (Transfer list challenge) has my tactics whcih suits a team that isn't the stronges in it's respective league.

Once your players develop by all means become more expansive.

Good luck and don't give up

Cheers for the advice man. The reason i tried to go 4-4-2 is because 2 of my best players are strikers. But if i do decide to carry this on am aware i will need to make some tactical adjustments and will take your comments on board.

I will see how it goes, but i am just a bit frustrated that i couldn't sell anyone and so had no money to buy or even loan some players (couldn't adjust budget between transfers and wage).

Will see how i feel when i next load it up haha

Why don't you change the rules? Any player over your allowed age has to be listed and any offers accepted but you are still allowed to play them until they are sold. If they just get dumped into the under 21's you will never shift them and that will apply to any of the teams you pick. It will also give you 6 months to a year to get the team playing how you want and not have to worry about a relegation scrap.
