Your three rules when buying players

If you had to filter the players you buy with 3 rules that you almost never break, what would these rules be?

Examples to get the thread going:

a) must be no older than 28
b) must be younger than 21
c) must sign him on xx% wages of my budget or less
d) his wages must be less than xx
e) I must not spend more than 10 millions
f) he must be model proffesional
g) he must be an international

what are your 3 golden rules regarding buying players?

3. can i sell another player for more money than i pay for him or reduce the wage bill by bringing him in for less than someone leaving?

Depends

This totally depends on what i need. If all my players is young, I would concider signing an older player with experience.

Usually my only rules is to stay inside the budget, and I also look at the clubs finances, when i first started playing i splashed the cash when i was in the red, and that just sucked.

a) young as possible
b) decent price
c) good enough for the team
d) potential
e) contract length, players with short time left of contracts is cheaper to buy

First of all I always pick AC Milan in my saves so the following option applied for my first team of Milan project (in order of relevance):

His wages must be less than 5M per year (Mandatory)
His determination attribute must be of 13 minimun (Mandatory)
Must be no older than 28
I must not spend more than 10 millions

I just started a new save. I sold a lot of players and I only bought Lucas Romero (9M), Matias Kranevitter (8) and Gino Peruzzi (4).

For U-20 and U-18 squads I bought Lucas Boye, Jesus Vallejo, Luka Jovic and three more player I don't remember at this moment.

Under 21 at the standard the club currently plays, with at least a bit better potential.
