I haven't really seen any stories as such on this forum but it always interests me to find out how others are doing on their games.

Currently i'm with Newcastle in my second season looking to push on into the Champions League.

My first season went far better than anticipated by winning the league cup with a 2-1 extra time win over The Gooners at Wembley. A pretty respectable 6th place in the league to go with a cup and I was chuffed with my first season on the Tyne.

I think a lot of that success comes from Mike Ashley selling up and giving me some extra money in my kitty although I did all my wheeling and dealing fairly early on but Mr Derek Llambias who took over gave me 77million to qualify for Europe in my second season! Yep - 77 FRICKING MILLLION!

My first season I got rid of Ameobi, Harper, ****, Smith, Barton, Cacapa and Geremi. I brought in Zhirkov, Kameni, Thiago Silva, Osvaldo and Miller.

I had to buy Miller as on any other game i've done Ish Miller has scored a shed load for WBA (Usually against me). WBA are always a bogey team for me so I thought i'd steal him. A snip at 5.25 to be fair as one for the future but he didn't really replicate his WBA form with 7 in 16.

To be fair though I tended to win most games by 1 goal and usually 1-0 if that. I only conceded 28 in the season which was pretty good for a team full of relative strangers to each other.

This season I went crazy in the market spending every last penny to get a squad capable of competing in Europe and the domestic campaign.

Owen left me due to him being extremely overpaid and greedy and is now plying his trade in Milan with Inter and the Special One.

Signings so far consist of Criscito, Witsel, Matias Fernandez, Balotelli, De Jong, Camacho, Diarra, some dude called Alex from Internacional who seems to be technically perfect and strangely enough Bojan and Assulin both on frees! I also got a sneaky bit of business in Nakamura on a free purely for his freekicks and a bit of exposure in Asia. It was a well thought out transfer (wh)

So far i'm i've played 7 in the league winning 6 of those and drawing the other to a stubborn Wigan at the JJB. In the process i've scored 16 and conceded 1 with Balotelli getting 5.

In Europe i'm top of my group consisting of Rosenborg of whom I just tore apart 3-0 at home, Deportive who I beat away 3-2 and Artmedia who I am yet to play.

Well that's my game so far. Any questions i'd love to answer them.
Currently it's 4:31 am and this insomnia sucks.

I always loved reading other peoples stories.

Especially when they pretended to be Terry Venables or a permanently drunk Bryan Robson!!

There was a series by "Clayton" which resulted in him killing off most of his under-performing squad by way of his sort of assassin pet chicken. Might be a bit hazy on the details there!! But it was a **** funny read!

I loved sites like FMStuff and FirstEleven where T-Side used to write loads.

Is there any call for this type of stuff any more?

I was thinking of writing some stories based on FM2009 - but would I get any readers nowadays??

Is there a "Stories" section or thread on here to post them in?

i love reading these kind of stories, we dont have enough members who make them, but personally i love them, well done with Toon, Europe isnt gonna be easy, i find it kills my squad and my league form suffers as a result, best of luck though mate and some really good signings there, Bojan on a free is a real result

im tottenham in my first season i only bought capel and martinez and going through the season picking up points winng the carling cup and den sumthin happened towards the end as i was picking up points sitting in fourth place the top 3 were dropping dem and dis is how it looked on the last day.

chelsea 69
man utd 68
liverpool 68
TOTTENHAM 67

all of them lost and i one so i won the league aswell as the carling cup and i was thrilled.

second season only bought defoe to replace campbell who returned to man utd. it didnt go aswell as my 1st well i finished 7th in the league with joe mattock diego rodriguez coming in january and being knocked out of cup comps early.

third season i bought coloccini from newcastle ayew on a free from marselle and reynaldo a brazillian youngster.

once again it didnt go aswell i got knocked out of cup comps str8 away and finished seventh again

fourth season i sold joe mattockfor a staggering 19 million considering i signed him for 9mill and he was 20 odd, sold jenas and zokora but the transfer window ended so had to wait for the january one in which i bought david villa and too add a bit of expereince seedorf and pirlo from milan but once again when i was fourth it turned to hanging on to fourth and i lost 2 of my last 3 games and drawing last one to portsmouth 1-1 gutted i ended up finshing 6th

now im in my 5 season and thought i had to splash i bit of cash i already had 24 mill but sold gomes for 38mill to barca and brought in 23 yearold sergio asenjo for 18.75mill as is replacement sold javi martinez for 18million and bought 23 yearold daniel parejo from real madrid for 35.5mill and sold vedran corluka for 19mill to inter and now have sergio aguero from athico madrid who i signed for 34mill

i have just played to euro qualifiers winning 5-0 on aggerate

i play a 3-5-2 attacking formation

asenjo

woodgate king dawson

lennon pirlo parejo capel

modric

villa aguero

this thread is great, I won't tell about my experience at real madrid where I only won a cup in four seasons, now am starting with Man city, expecting being in the first seven so I can go to uefa, bought vela arshavin mata bale marcelo and balotelli caceres and a couple other guys will come next season (theyre already bought, I just want them to gain experience). The philosophy is going to be having at least a world class player each line and buy as many PA10 as possible for the elder days for the beginning, hope my reputation will rise so I can start buying real quality I'll edit every half season, playing the arcgived 442 offensive when am favourite and 442 defensive when am outsider (managed to win against newcastle 4 to 0 so I think there is qulity here.

Man City are wise choice. I think their money is attractive to ANY manager starting a new game in the PL. City's team isn't too bad either. When you have money you buy all these players playing where capable players like Stephen Ireland and Johnson already play thinking because they were there when you started you need to get somebody to replace them purely because the ideology behind what people want to do with City.

The owners want the club to be the worlds best football team and unfortunately I think we tend to look outside of Britain for these young starlets. They was revolution with the worlds best players with their masses of cash. No offence to Stephen Ireland but when you ask someone 'Who are the best Midfielders in the world?', they are more likely to answer with the likes of Kaka, Pirlo, Xavi.

When I was City I hardly ever played Johnson and Ireland and they were reserved for League Cup outings usually but they never failed to impress.

Anyway, sounds like a good plan, dude. Im sure you will be top 7 with ease with 80+ Mill to spend. You should be anyway :P

My Newcastle game is nearing the end of the season and after early season promise i'm 3rd with 55 points after 26 games.
My strikers decided not to score and i've messed around too much with team selection trying to keep people happy by giving them some games. I think a big clearout is in order over the summer. I will be lucky if I can stay top 5 with my recent form which is a shame after all the early season form was so promising. I seem to be sneaking wins at the moment and my performances are SHOCKING. Not what I like to see...

Let me know how you're doing with City too, mate.

Good luck you mighty Citizens!

I love these stories too.

I'm currently Man City just coming into august 2009 now, my first season whent better than expected finishing 2nd and taking the Title to the 2nd last day. Major signings were made in my first season as you can expect from any City boss:

Carlos Vela 11.75m Average season just 5 in 27 but he is one for the future
Oswaldo Sanchéz 2.1m Decent season didnt expect too much conc. 38 in 27
Marek Hamsik 17.m inconsistent but positive start potential is there
Angelo Palombo 15m 8 asissts 7.22 av. fantastic start
Belletti 3.7m fantastic utility player 27 apps in all many posistions
Gareth Bale 4.1m + p/e Gelson Fernandes complete donkey but he should improve
Darijo Srna 16m - Fantastic season 7.22 av. and pivotal overall play
David Luiz 9.75m - Dodgy but signs of potentil definately

Youngsters:

Jack Wilshere 10m
Gerginio Wijnaldum 2.8m
John Fleck 3.2m

League:

LIVERPOOL 89
MAN CITY 85
ARSENAL 78
CHELSEA 78

got to a league cup final destroyed by arsenal at wembley but only a 1-0 scoreline
and ac milan dominated both legs but 1-1 hom and 0-0 away saw us go out on away goal :(

So we knocked Man Utd. out the top four and had a title winning amount of points. The individual highlight was Robinho though 32 in 35 getting top scorer and now at the start of this next campaign hes out for 5 months thanks to international fixtures. So michael owen on free transfer has been shipped in along with van der vaart 9.5m balotelli 17m mandanda 26m and pjanic 30m.

major clear out this season though
ireland johnson benjani boinov zabeleta vassel dunne elano petrov onhua and others racking up 46m

So all is good for city, at least for the moment..

okay i just finished first season with man city, finishing 5th wich was what I planned, to go to uefa cup although there have been a couple of frustrating moments. Got eliminated from the carling cup by penalties, after liverpool scored a goal at the 89th minute (wasnt happy) in the fa cup I fell at wembley 1 0 against arsenal in the semi finals and worst of all I got eliminated from uefa by away goals against valencia. Am just a bit concerned because the board decided to add 12000 places in the stadium and improve the training center, wich means I won't have many money, hopefully I bought a lot of wonderkids this year so I may not need much money. Balotelli should start working this year (in my madrid game he was amazing) but there is huge competition upfront; robinho jo (very good year) rossi balotelli guess Ill rotate. Ill tell you how goes my second season, aiming to do better try to sneak in the first four (EVERTON didi it in my game, no reason I can't!!!!)

Love the stories. Got a self-made everton tactic that has, on a wing and a prayer, won me many games! keep the stories coming, poll for the best or sigs with mid/end of season updates?

Sounds like City are the team to be! I'm thinking of starting a game with someone in the deepest darkest limits of English football. I'm thinking someone like.. Ebbsfleet or Telford. I want a real proper challenge!

My housemate is doing one with Gateshead and has the majority of the Newcastle Reserve team on loan and hes sitting pretty in a play-off place. The thing that ****** me off is he's been touted for the Real Madrid, Chelsea and Blackburn jobs already and he hasnt even finished a season! What is that all about? Not realistic at all!

Anyway, with Newcastle i've got through the second season and up to late December in the 3rd. I've been pretty immersed in it lately which is suprising as I usually get annoyed easily and need to take a few days break.

So here we go...

Second season: Pretty successful season really, I ended up finishing in a respectable 4th place just behind Arsenal by 4 points. To my shock and delight I came away with 2 cups too. I managed to get knocked out of the League Cup in the first round entered as I got the Gunners, which annoyed me as the League Cup is the platform for me to give my kiddies a run out but due to it being I went for a little experience over youth. I lost 1-2 in a game which really I should have won with Balotelli missing at least 3 clear cut chances.

The FA cup was the hurdle where I fell last year but I was determined to do well due to me being prematurely knocked out of the League Cup and unable to defend it after winning it last year. The 3rd round I was up against Huddersfield who I glady steamrolled 3-1. Up next was an away tie against a recently relegated Hull side so I had high hopes of an easy win. I fielded a slightly weaker side thinking I would have enough to overpower a team in playoff form in the Championship but low and behold I couldn't take any chances and drew 0-0. Once more annoyed that I cannot seem to finish even though I was fairly free-scoring in the league. On to St James' a few days later and a fairly lucky 1-0 win courtesy of Ish Miller. Then came Pompey at home, Fulham away which I won 2-0 and 1-4 respectively and a 2-2 draw with Villa in the Semi at Wembley with The Toon sneaking a win on Penalties. Chelsea were the opponents in the final who I tonked 3-1 courtesy this time of an in form Bolatelli.

Bolatelli season stats were pretty incredible playing 47 games, scoring 29 goals and getting 24 assists as well as 10 MOM performances. This stirling performance however I feel was marred by 1 yellow card (wh)

My league performance was on and off really. Some weeks i'd be amazing and could take on anyone in the world on and stick 5 past them and others I would battle for a 1-0 against a team fighting for relegated. My best winning streak of that season was 7 which beat last years previous record of 4.
Another record I was proud of was 6 games in a row without conceded which has been matched this season but unfortunately not bettered.

Sorry for plying you with stats/results here but there are more to come...

So on with the UEFA Cup.

The draw gave me Deportivo, Artmedia and Rosenborg. I was pretty happy with the draw but as this was my first time in Europe I didnt really know what to expect. Suprisingly I won all 6 games scoring 15 goals and conceding a respectable 4 goals, 2 of which Depor scored at the Riazor in my 2-3 win.

First knockout I got Werder Bremen. The first game at home was 1-1 with Almeida scoring late on to get the plucky Germans a draw. Away at Bremen I won 1-2 with a pretty sold display. Their goal came in the 90 something minute due to Kameni having a rare lapse in concentration.
Second knockout was back to Spain to play the familiar Depor side I barely broke a sweat playing last time out, so I was quietely confident. Usually this confidence is my demise but I won 6-3 on aggregate with a 3-2 win at home and 1-3 win away.

On to the quarters and definately my toughest test yet with the mighty Bayern Munich. First match was at home and this was pretty much the turning point in my season with the inception of a new tactic which won my the two trophies and cemented my Champs League spot.

Infront of my biggest home crowd of the season I ran out 5-3 winners with Balotelli getting ANOTHER hatrick (I counted 4 in the season), Camacho and the man-mountain Domenico Criscito with a towering header late on. 3 goals conceded at home wasn't the plan though and I thought a trip to the Allianz Arena was going to bury me. My new tactic came up trumps with me pretty much on top for all of the match and scoring 2 goals from set pieces with captain marvel, Taylor and Coloccini bagging to send me through to a Semi against Ukrainian giants Shaktar.

The first leg was in Ukraine with a dominant performance winning 2-0 with mid season signing Chamakh scoring a rare goal and Criscito popping up with another header. The home leg was much of the same this time with Martins on a all but rare start repaying my faith with a brace.

We did it! Final of the UEFA cup against Marseille. Marseille scraped through the last 2 rounds on penalties so I couldn't have wished for a more comparible side in the final. The score at Landsdowne road was 1-0 but that didnt flatter me at all when in reality they had about 3 shots to my 18. Mandanda their keeper is a class act and it took a wonder goal from Balotelli to seal the win.

So there you have it, 2 cups and a respectable 4th in the league in my second season. In all honesty I would never have expected Europe or even getting to the knockout stages of the tournament with my inexperience in the competition but my young team came through and brought me some silverware to make the glum north-east slightly brighter with the twinkle of a couple of cups.

The tactic I started using against Bayern is and old favourite from FM07 with a 4-1-3-2. I dont play too attacking and I think this tactic suits my team due to the amazing defence I possess in Criscito - Silva - Taylor - Coloccini. I've yet to try it with anyone else but it will be interesting to see if I have the success with a weaker side. Hmmm... we shall see.

Third Season: For some reason this season the board still only expected me to get a top half finish so I went for continental qualification again doubting any chance of me winning the league. You will probably see a quite negative under-current from season 2 but thats purely if I dont expect anything and do better than expected thats awesome and I dont like failing so I aim as low as I can and bask in the glory overachieving brings :-D

The board - the stingey cretins this year only gave me 38mill which I thought was pretty poor considering how much I made them last year.
Luckily for the board I didnt give them an ultimatum for this act of disrespect and that I didn't need many players for this season as my squad was looking pretty strong. Last years remaining funds were spent on Higuain for 10mill and youngster Laurito for 13.5mill.

Looking at my squad I had hardly any home grown or players trained by me strong enough for my Champions League exploits so after searching for some home grown talent I ended up buying Tommy Huddlestone for quite a hefty 16 million which so far he has not repayed AT ALL :@
Francois Clerc came in for a nice bargain 2mill as a backup for Coloccini as Beye was getting older.

Other signings included Fiorillo on a free along with a guy called Walzer and young Jack Wilshere both on frees too.
My suprise signing is a guy from China. I stumbled accross this guy by just catching his name on the loading screen with him scoring 5 for China against Laos. Thinking this guy was just a fake player to make up numbers for China I was pleasantly suprised to find a 20 year old playing for Shandong. His stats were pretty good too and he scored a bucket load for his team last year. His name is Tang Shun but it looks as though his history starts from 2010 which is a shame as I thought i'd stumbled on a real-life gem. Tang is currently freezing over in Warsaw trying to gain a work permit but with newly aquired Castellon from Spain he will get sent there in new year to get a WP in half the time.

This season started with a 2-1 win over United in the Shield and a CL qualifier against Steaua which I won over two legs 5-0. Next game a Super Cup victory against Inter where I dominated only to find myself not scoring AGAIN but thanks to a penalty shootout I triumphed in Monaco after a 0-0 stalemate.
In the league I started well and i'm currently top after 17 games in a very similar position to last year (near enough identical, actually).

12 wins, 5 draws and scoring 29, conceding a mere 7 goals is looking good at the moment but can I keep it up? Doubt it, but Balotelli seems to have hit form but you never know with that young Italian swine.

Champions League has seen me top the group of AC Milan, Anderlecht and Kobenhavn. A defeat at home to AC 1-2 was disapointing where I should have at least got a draw but I got my revenge by the same scoreline at their gaff. Unfortunately the draw for the next round has been unkind to me, pitting me against my favourite team Valencia in the knockouts :(

So there we have it as it stands as of Friday 24th December 2010.

My current line-up consists of -

Kameni

Criscito/Enrique, Taylor, Silva, Clerc/Coloccini

Camacho

Zhirkov Diarra Jonas/Balotelli

Balotelli/Laurito Higuain/Bojan

Let me know how all you guys are doing with your games too!

p.s... I promise to read over my next post as the spelling seems terrible in this effort!

I love reading these kind of stories, they're great! Well done gaz with your toon game! Seems to be going great! I'll give you my Hull story when I get my first season finished!
Thanks!

chelsea 69
man utd 68
liverpool 68
TOTTENHAM 67

after 37 games? should be on well more points than that usually takes 85+ to win the league!

my second season as manager of the citizens was disastrous, I started with 5pts in 5 games; 3 of them after a victory against united. I recovered, being undefeated for nine games then my players stopped thinking that they should play football and finished 10th... great. In the facup semis I saw my team leading 1 0 all game until ronaldo at the 90th minute and berbatov at the 94th minute throw me out. All my hopes were placed on the uefa we had eliminated chelsea in quarters and won 2 0 away against newcastle, and I relaxed when balotelli scored the first goal at home, paving the way to the final... until kinnear said something to their players which resulted in me conceiding four goals (is doping allowed in this game???). Bye bye UEFA. But like all sad stories, there has been true epic moments; I eliminated arsenal in semis of the carling cup with a robinho's goal at the 121th minute and won the finals against manchester, my first title with the citizens!!!! Anyway, next year I am fighting for the title (or so will I tell my boss). Robinho is leaving for 19m to inter but I am bringing in aguero and a couple of world class players. Now the time has come to get some!!!!!!!!!!

end of the third season with the citizens, as I said I told my boss that I would be fighting the title, the first thing to do was to defend my title in the carling cup and got throwned out by fulhalm in the first leg! Nevertheless I managed to stay in the first seven all season until in march things began to look difficult. An away game in the UEFA against tottenham lost 3 0 made me think really carefully about that gap between defence and midfield, when the home game came I couldn't believe it, my team was leading 4 0 at the end of the first half and finished 6 0!!! EPIC!!!!
But what were worth all these efforts knowing that semis were against the unbelievable, astonishing great almighty team of real madrid?
A short 1 0 at home gave me some hope for the game in the bernabeu and holiness shone upon my players when I won 3 2. To finals then.
Meanwhile I made a decent fa cup getting rid of everything in my way, paving the way to a final against arsenal in wembley.
But the season wasn't over and my calendar looked something like ''arsenal, liverpool, chelsea, manchester" I didi my best and at the last fixture I was one point behind tottenham whose final game was wigan, mine QPR.
The UEFA final was against Villa, and even if I wasnt favourite I had high hopes... lost 1 3
The final fixture I barely watched the game, I was just watching the ranking, delighted by the inability of tottenham to score against wigan while I was banging QPR, I was fourth! I am in the champions league!!!!
Last game of the season was arsenal at wembley in the fa cup final. I prefer not to talk about it :(
Anyway next season I am aiming to the title again and as far as possible in the champions league, my team is perfect just need a keeper and a defender.
Now whe shall ride for glory!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your Reading games sounds pretty awesome Wrighty. What is the key to 9 clean sheets?! Apart from Amir :P Doing well there mate so I shouldnt be too long before you're in the Prem again. Some good signings there too I see. How much do Reading have to spend? Might be worth a shout. I'm a big fan of Doyle. Legend.

Steady away for you there Aragones. I would have thought after your second season the board would have kicked your *** out. I guess in real like the Dr has been patient with Mark Hughes so why not with you right? ha.
How much does he give you each year to spend?
Aguero is gonna be a key signing for ya. Get Laurito too if you can. Even if you bang him in the reserves for a season. Once he gets used to England he is pretty awesome. Headers galore!

I'm taking a rest from my game right now. I had a game against Liverpool at home which was 1st v 2nd and I lead for the majority of the match but with Reina being a massive annoyance saving anything that was thrown at him after that. They went up and scored a header 94th minute :(

I thought I needed to take a break after that. I was LIVID!

Anyway I will keep you posted when I load it up again. Keep the stories coming!

Just finished fourth season, for the first time I was among the serious favourites to the title and played my first champions league. Fulham (again) destroyed me in the carling cup at the fourth round I think; which was annoying. Didn't do much in the facup neither and my chances in CL were 18 to 1, but I only got eliminated by away goals against barcelona (with xavi scoring two headers!!!!!?????) Finished fifth in the league as you can see this year sucked... but next year I am definetly going for the title again!!! Even if it takes a thousand years we never will retreat!!!
So in four seasons my palmares is: a carling cup and runner up in uefa and fa cup. Best premiership position: fourth...
IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
