I feel that one of the most difficult tasks in football manager is managing to get the best out of the worlds best. And 46 goals after the turn of the year says to me that I finally managed to do that.

So I ask you, how many goals have your top players scored in a season and how did you make it happen?

Would be good for the posters to show goal scoring records and their tactic they use to try and build up a more detailed thread. Posting your goals scored doesn't really give any information...posting what your strikers roles and stats doesnt really give any information. It's the roles and formation together that bring success

I remember Gigliotti in Boca scored 31 goals in 40 matches in my second season

Of course you are right! Sorry I was very excited when writing this!

I tell my goalkeeper to give the ball to the defenders but that is it. I feel my tactic is tika-taka of 2008-11 not the tika taka of today

I would like to change the topic of this thread very slightly. In my excitement after the season had finished I really just wanted to post Messi's scoring record as quickly as possible and as dave256 pointed out this thread should be an opportunity to share secrets and pointers with other managers.

"YOUR SCORING RECORDS AND HOW YOU ACHIEVED THEM."

Now I know this sounds a lot like a tactic sharing thread but I believe there is a lot more than just the tactics involved, FM likes to make use of a goal drought for example. So I'd like to know how you nipped them in the bud. If you were at a smaller club he had bigger ones circling him how did you make sure he kept his head down? Any tips and tricks to make us better FM players would be helpful.

For me, I tried to make everything about Messi... Especially press conferences (as much as I hate them), I would praise the **** out of him just to keep him happy and when asked about others I'd be more honest

I managed him at Southampton until the 2020/21 season where I bought him for everything I had after moving to Monaco.

I used the same tactics at Southampton too.

2016/17 season (all comps) 34(3) apps - 27 goals, 10 assists, 7 MoM.
2017/18 season (all comps) 42 apps - 32 goals, 10 assists, 5 Mom.
2018/19 season (all comps) 57(1) apps - 47 goals, 18 assists, 12 MoM.
2019/20 season (all comps) 48(1) apps - 45 goals, 7( 6 ) pens, 17 assists, 11 MoM.
2020/21 season (all comps, Southampton) 26(1) apps - 17 goals, 1(1) pen, 5 assists, 7 MoM.
2020/21 season (all comps, Monaco) 20 apps - 17 goals, 2(2) pens, 3 assists, 5 MoM.
2021/22 season (all comps) 57 apps - 70 goals, 13(13) pens, 21 assists, 18 MoM.
2022/23 season in above screenshot.
2023/24 season (so far) 2 apps - 2 goals.

'Should' have more goals for England, but he gets played in midfield.

Two hundred and fourty four ******* million!

Talk about smashing the transfer record!

******* **** dude! ahaha

At least he was worth the pennies though, imagine if he flopped. LOL.
