I have watch some YouTube clips regarding youth intake strategies, primarily how to scout large volumes of players. I find that I start attempting to sign pretty much any 3.5 star potential and up. I imagine that my transfer budget is the only thing limiting me, should a transfer or contract be accepted.

Is it more recommended to sign just a few? Can you sign too many?

sign howsoever you like it..
get your youth set up upgraded, get some good coaches, sign as many players as you want..
sell the ones you don't need, and play the ones you do..

I'd say you should sign only those that have potential to become decent players and I would take them only if they had 4.5 star potential

Thanks...I may look into both ways. Be more selective up front, but get as many as I am able.

True, if you sing from other teams they should pe at least 4.5 stars.
Usually, from my own intake, i take every 2star +, to add some flavour to it.

And to answer your original question, I once had a save in which I took the best regens from everywhere I could, and I ended up with a huge second team that I didn't use for anything. It makes the game boring, as it's much easier for the player to find good regens

Nah, even if they never make your team, get them out on long term loan for a small fee, they add up and cant put you past FFP without trying..

Is it just me who, in general, only signs the player the assistant picks out? And top up with regens from other clubs?

Thanks. If anyone is familiar, is that somewhat akin to the salary cap we have for US sports?
