Youth players contracts

I have youth players who are on £80 p/w but are also on full time contracts at 16. I thought you could only be on a full time contract from 17?

You can get them to sign an agreement to start a full time contract as soon as they turn 17, a good way to secure a promising player to a proper deal so a rival club cannot snap them up for peanuts.

It generally means paying them a fair bit more than £80 but is worth it if they develop into a good player.

Yeah I know that but at 16 they are already on full time contracts which is abit weird no?
