Hey guys.

Basically im in my 4th season as Newcastle, facilities are all top notch etc. And im starting to get some good youth in now with the potentials of 4-5 stars. However I don't know how to get them to reach it!

I had one who was going to be 5 stars, he was 16. I gave him a year, in my youth squad and he already had dropped to 4 stars. So I put him out to loan when he was 17, he spent a year playing non stop. He came back as 3 star potential! Now im playing him in my squad trying to get him back up and 3 months into the season he has already dropped to 2.5 stars...

Another 4.5 star potential youth player dropped to 4 stars from 16-17 years old. Now im playing him in my senior squad to try and get him up, but its not looking good!

I need to know how to get these kids into stars!

Maybe im not giving them to right training? Or sending them out on loan to early? Or to late? Maybe im training them too hard?

I mean the 5 star guy was set to train as a Anchor man at a hardwork out and he has failed.

I read someone from 16-19 you are meant to train physical attributes so ive been doing that with my 4.5 star winger by getting his balance and pace up.

So can anyone give me tips?

One more thing, if you have a potential youth at 3.5 stars, is it possible to raise that higher by training them correctly? Cheers!

For training, if they are a striker I train them as a complete forward, midfielder box to box and defenders just as central defenders, if they are not good enough for first team, make them available for reserve squad for 90 minutes and try and give them enough time in the first team when you are winning comfortably. Get a player to tutor them if you can aswell. Hope this helps

Once a player is generated by the game they have a static potential which can't be changed.
Your potential star ratings are probably decreasing as your squad improves in quality, so their potential is lower relative to your squad, or because your initial scout/coach reports about their potential were inaccurate, and have been corrected over time.
It's also possible for potential star ratings to decrease if the game believes they no longer can reach their full potential - if their attribute growth over a few years is low (ie. not enough play time, poor facilities, injuries etc).

Yeah, the star rating is in relation to the rest of your team. Obviously while the rest of your team has gotten better, I'm assuming through you buying better players, he can no longer match their quality. I just realised I said basically the same thing as advwar, which serves me right for not reading posts.

Even the guys with finishing 8 will be 5* in Skrill premier. The ratings are relative to other players at club.

In the years, your club grew, you got better player so your youngsters' PA remain same but it became *relatively* lower. I play as Chelsea who already have the likes of Hazard and Courtois with high PA, so most of the ratings of my youngsters remain constant bar serious injuries.

My experience :)

Hello there.
Well whenever someone with high potential comes to my youth team i instantly put him in my Main Team, cuz i rly want him to progress trough me directly, so i give him 90 min playable in reserve and 45 min in under 18 team. and when he is in 95% in form i might put him in the bench vs low teams in the league. he started as 4,5 star potential. as 15 yr old. with 5 games played in the main team he grew so much after the season ended he went to 5 stars potential and almost every stats grew atleast 1+. what im trying to say is i dont risk my potential playes out on loan cuz they might have bad training and i dont have any controll over his progress..

Don't put your youth players on loan, train them in a role, not a specific attribute and get them tutored by a player 15+ Determination.

There are a few things you need to take into consideration as well as the reported potential ability. If the player has low determination they need to be tutored to make it higher. If the player is naturally unfit or injury prone then it will take them a lot longer to improve since they will have reduced game time and injuries will harm their stats.

This is how I develop my young players. I give every young player with decent potential a tutor with good mental stats, preferred moves I might want them to gain and a better attitude than the young player. I usually tutor every player twice. If they are good enough for the first team I will give them the odd game/ sub appearance in easier games. If they aren't good enough I send them out on loan but only to clubs with the leagues loaded. If the player doesn't speak the language I try and find a club in the same country.

I don't put youth players on loan until I think that they could be ready for my first team squad. Then I put them on loan to a team in my league or perhaps one below to see how they fare. Then I bring them into the squad, introduce them slowly but make sure they get game time. Having youth players that just sit on the bench is one way to waste their talent.
