So just a question to people out there, do you guys actually manage your youth and reserve teams as well?

Especially for the youth team, aside from your own regens do people buy youth from other teams and manage them hoping that as your first team ages you can just pull someone up from youth? Also how about loaning, I keep hearing that it is helpful but I've always just give my youth some first-team experience.

I leave it to my assistant, when I play as hull i have to get my wage bill down so I get rid of the reservs mainly. Then I try to let my under 18's managed by my assistant, and if there is any good proformers, they have the potential to be good, they even do well in training I either give them a few 1st team games to see them or send them on loan.

Tom Cairney
Mark Cullen
Liam Cooper

All youths (under 20) in my 1st team now

Never take full charge of either, but sometimes will when I want to check out how some players are doing during matches.

I tend to loan anywhere up to 7/8 players from youth teams a season, although depending on what teams make loan offers and what state my teams facilities are in/coach quality, I just keep them at the club and give them the odd sub appearance in the first team.

So you guys don't care about your reserve and youth teams losing? Also I remember in FM 2010 I had the option of having a reserve team or not. Doesn't look like I can for 2011 (I guess it's a good thing for match fitness after injuries)

Only thing I use reserve teams for is match fitness for players in the first team - thats all. That and friendly games to make a bit more money. As for the reserve/u19 etc division results, wouldnt care if my teams finished last or first.
