Youth teams not working properly in edited leagues

Been trying out different edited leagues including my own and I'm finding that when I go to the U-19 or youth team screen the tab for youth training is missing for any team in the edited league, in fact there is no youth training at all. All youth players are in the first team training schedules, I also noticed after going on holiday for a few seasons in the game that there are very few youth players coming into the teams in later years.

Is anyone else finding this? As far as I can tell it only affects edits which start Nation rules from scratch and not the ones that add leagues to existing setups.

I've posted this on the SI forums but still havent got a reply yet, so wanted to figure out if anyone else was experiencing the same problems.
 
You have to enable Reserve and Youth leagues if you edit nation rules, all seems ok in my custom dbs
 
First make sure that 'Has No Reserve Fixtures' and 'Has No Youth Fixtures' are unticked under 'Competitions' in the editor for the team in question.

You can add a specific reserve team by adding one to the 'Reserve Teams' box on the 'Details' page. After you add the reserve team a new entry will appear on the sidebar and you can set what division the reserve team is in ect.

checked and those options are unticked for the teams affected, I've tried creating reserve teams and adding a reserve league the way you suggest but still had the same problem. I mean they work fine fixtures wise etc. just the training and flow of youngsters into the club that isnt working.
 
Are you sure? Check the reset data of the nation you are in. It is under the main tab of you nation rules I believe. Start a game and holiday until the day after that date. This is the date that all teams should have a new batch of regens spawned for them.

I don't see what could be cause this not to work...

I've done that a batch did come through but most were 20 or older with only 2 or 3 being U-19 none of them younger than 17.

I've no idea why it would happen either which is making it really frustrating.
 
Tried it again, admittedly theres a few more than the last test I did but still alot less than when I tried it without the xmls running.

Checked and that those boxes are unchecked, as I say there are fixtures and reserve/youth leagues are fine, its just the training and number of players(and their age) that are messed up.

Can I ask for your custom leagues, were they continuations of the current structures or were they started from scratch? (i.e. using the Add Nation Rules option) As this seems to be the only connection between the files I am having this issue with.
 
the custom dbs league sructures were started from scratch and will be up to download in a couple of days, your problem sound like youth set up, youth academy and training facilities stats make sure each of these are 15-20 on stadium page. this is the only thing that would affect regen ages and amount you get in new season

looking at it, those stats are about 14 for Rangers and if I remember right the facilities seem to get downgraded an awful lot in the game I was testing in (despite good finances which was odd) so it may be that, the only thing is when compared to a game I ran for about the same length of time, the facilities are about the same but there are far more youth players in the that version it seems. Im going to let the unedited version run for another season or two to see what happens.

EDIT: after letting it go for another season and comparing, its about the same number of youth players coming through its just that they are about 4 years older in the edited version compared to the original.

tick youth academy box and put youth training to 20 and see what happens also could try increasing your club reputation.
 
might give it a try later on, although something tells me it has something to do with the training disappearing.

right, pretty sure these are all related to the same issue. when testing I realised that when I have the xml active and reach the update day it shows the news item about intake of youth players. It should have an option in the bottom of the article that links you to the youth team like in this screenshot taken from a normal game:

but when a league with new rules is active this is what happens:

and the button does nothing, its as if there is no youth team at all.

Someone on the SI forum figured it out, I didnt tick the "Youth player min age" and the "Youth contract max age". So I set min age to 14 and max age to 19 and set the min full contract age to 17 and it has solved the problem.
