What happens when you set both central defenders to man marking and the opposin team plays with only one striker? Should the setting be changed to zonal marking or specific marking? What happens if you make one of the defenders mark the striker and leave the other one on man marking? Same thing for central midfielders. I use a tactic with only two central midfielders. One BWM and one DLP, the BWM is set to man mark and the DLP to zone mark. Now what happens if the opposing team plays with 3 central midfielders? Will the BWM just mark one person and leave the other two to do whatever they want? I have tried mutliple things but I can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx!

1 striker teams can be countered with one defender on tight man marking, slower bigger one usually and faster one on loose zonal marking. Its like how they used to play before, bigger stopper and faster sweeper.CM,i would suggest putting both on same instructions,as even if they have two midfielders,if one is man marking,he will mark one cm and follow him around,so if he goes into the zone of the other mid,two midfielders would be marking him while other pop midfielder would be free.So either put both on man mark,or both on zonal.against 3cms,play both on zonal.but u well get run over at the centre a bit when it is 2v3,which i think is very realistic.cheers, hope i helped.

If you play two strikers and one of them has a good teamwork and workrate you can then probably trust him to get deep to mark their deeper midfielder. That has been what I saw in my first season with Torino playing Bianchi or Antenucci in a 4-4-2 that controlled all the 4-5-1 variants presented to it. At least during the first half, until I changed to a 4-2-3-1 deep because the 4-4-2, while working efficiently in defence, was losing its attacking sharpness.
