I've generally just used close down more/higher line (unless it's on attacking mentality in which case I don't bother)/prevent short GK distribution/offside trap, combined with always having a ball winning midfielder in my midfield three. I don't normally mess with the marking or player...
Are you referring to a formation using three true strikers or one with a center forward and two wingers? Sorry, just wanted to clarify the terms before I try to really answer you.
Hey y'all, so, despite the fact that I come here and lecture people about tactics in a probably-off-putting way, there's one area of tactics that I'm genuinely awful at: set piece routines. I really have no idea about how to set them up so I tend to go with a pretty generic approach and any...
You're getting great advice here but I will add as a bit of a counterpoint that while you should definitely have multiple approaches so that the computer doesn't catch on too easily, chopping and changing for the sake of changing can be detrimental, so maintaining a consistent strategy for...
I feel like my guys are missing penalties more frequently. I don't know, I don't have a huge sample size, but I even changed takers and they end up hitting a lot of balls right at the keeper.
Can you be more specific about the problems you're encountering? How are your attacks breaking down/losing possession? How are you giving up goals? It's hard to know exactly what's going wrong without some context.
Take a look at that thread I linked to in the "not enough knowledge about game mechanics" thread on this forum. It explains it much better than I could.
But put simply, a Target Man is (usually) a big striker (think Benteke or Peter Crouch) whose primary role is to win headers and hold up the...
I've gotten great results on my new save with a standard mentality, conventional 4-3-3. It fits my players, the roles/duties are balanced and complement one another, and I kept the TIs to the minimum necessary (only "close down more", "play offside trap", and "prevent short GK distribution"; I...
This thread is about FM 15 but it still applies (despite the addition of some new roles in more recent games). It's a great breakdown of what the mentalities, player roles/duties, and tactical/player instructions do in terms of the match engine. This is the absolute best place to start to learn...
No problem, you might have to experiment some with his role and duty to get it to work exactly the way you want, but in general, having a holding mid or deep central mid on a more conservative role and defend duty should get you something close to what you're looking for.
I missed the screenshot but I was playing a preseason friendly against Jacksonville Armada and after I went a couple of goals up in about 15 minutes the game gave the wonderful commentary "Jacksonville Armada are sinking without trace"
It seems like you're doing decently with it already so I don't know how much we can add. The main structural issue I see is defensive coverage on the flanks (if I were playing against this formation, I would try to focus my attacks down the flanks and overload your fullbacks or catch them high...
Having two Raumdeuters seems...risky to me (although full disclosure I've never really made heavy use of one). If you're having someone play as a Raumdeuter, you're giving him a lot of positional freedom (it translates to something like "space interpreter", which I think is the translation the...
Rather than just giving you the answer, let's think through this. What does a target man do? What types of attacking moves is he going to be involved in? What are the best ways to get him the ball? It also depends on what you want to do with your tactic in a more general sense; is this an...
