    Help Starting A Fresh

Hi Guys, I've had FM17 for a while but I'll be honest, I've barely touched it, I've just struggled to really enjoy FM the past few times other than the odd season here and there and I think I've worked out part of my problem. My games are never really set up with longevity in mind so after a...

    Tactical problems

Hmm, one thing that might not be helping you defensively is you have both wide men on attack duties, so they will look forward a lot more and could leave your full backs exposed. On one side it shouldn't be too bad as he is protected by the CM/D, on the other side the FB is exposed as the AP and...

    Tactical problems

Couldn't have asked for a better explanation than that, I might look into that on my save to see an improvement, especially in games where the opposition defend in numbers as it felt sometimes we could never break them down and it might just be that, there aren't enough easy passing options, so...

    Tactical problems

Without going off of this post. I wonder could that be an issue at all? It's just in my 442 it is similar FB/S CD/D CD/D FB/S W/A CM/D DLP/S W/S F9/S P/A The reason I did that setup was I felt, if the CM/D was behind the F9, then it would allow to have the F9 to have more space to drop...

Central Defender on Cover Duty problems.

Hmm that is odd, can't say I've ever seen that before. Has the player he is marking got tight marking set to always in the opposition instructions or has Rose got specific man marking instructions? Not sure what else could cause something like that unfortunately!

Central Defender on Cover Duty problems.

Have you checked the defenders PPM, I have one who has Mark Tightly as a PPM which often sees him follow the striker deeper so as a result the other defender is on a cover to protect myself for this, it could be the cover defender has this trait which is causing him to abandon his role a little.

    Tactical problems

Okay, your plan sort of has it's own contradictions and a screenshot would help clarify this a bit better. First issue, you want in defence them to primarily concentrate on defending but to support wingers overlapping, this is a little bit awkward to achieve, a FB won't overlap the winger very...

Conceding tons of goals to low crosses

SJGSpook if you see what Miles posts on twitter you'd see that there's no more goals in FM than there would be in real life and I'm certain he quotes a percentage of goals from crosses in real life compared to how many happen in the game. Look at a lot of teams throughout the world and you will...

    General Training/ Match Preperation

Personally I always run the main team training myself as I'm yet to dive into individual training to how I want to do it yet. Pre-Season I'll move the training slider all the way to the left to boost learning tactics. I tend to keep it on Balanced/Average for the first week, then bump it up to...

Leeds United - a tactical experiment

Looks like throughout this thread you've made a lot of progress and to see you managed to complete two seasons and get yourself into the Premiership is a good sign of you know your tactic and what works and what doesn't. Good luck with your new season and hopefully you keep up! Just don't be...

Anybody had any luck with Target Men ?

A TM can work very well in my opinion, it;s just getting people near him doing perfect jobs, like above with a IF-A or maybe a Shadow Striker or AM-A behind him so that he isn't isolated will help him a lot.

    4-3-1-2 Tips

It all sounds okay, you may want to watch your midfield four carefully though as you have 3 advanced play makers and 1 dlp. But it fits what you want in the idea of a creative midfield. Also the look for overlap option I don't think means your wing backs will bomb forward, it just means your...

Leeds United - a tactical experiment

Glad it has helped. I'll be honest, putting it all into words and taking everything slowly I'm finding it much better and easier to take in!

Leeds United - a tactical experiment

That's fair enough that it doesn't fit to your vision then you definitely don't want to hamper that with a role that counters your vision. I did mine differently to you, as I don't feel safe playing to my own vision, I use the squad I have to hand to create a vision for me and like I said, I had...

Leeds United - a tactical experiment

The job of a DLF in general is to drop deep for the ball, then hold it up before laying the ball off. On a support duty he is more likely to drop deeper to receive the ball and make space for those ahead, while on an attack duty he will try to fashion chances for himself and others, so will...
