I've been playing with Napoli, and using Hamsik in a similar way, and i've found he does best as adv. playmaker support from MC if you want him attacking, either that or played as AMC with the same role :)

As it is, Athletic is a really fun, challenging game to play because of the Basque player restrictions. You really have to develop youth like Munian and others, it's a good thing Athletic have such good youth training facilities. But to answer you're question, no clue hahaha :)
