Cheers, what do I do once i've downloaded hamachi ?

Okay so me and 2 mates want to do this network game, we have all tried to host but nothing seems to work. We're going to preferences > network > run as server etc. and when we type in the I.P address of the host it just says 'unable to connect to server'. Please help :(
