For me, it was a muddy training ground on the edge of town — two rusted goalposts, no stands, and a team of kids. That was my world: the junior league. No glamour, shirt sponsors, no scouts. Just passion. I learned early that management isn’t about money or fame — it’s about people. About teaching a kid how to trap a ball, how to believe in themselves, how to fight for the team beside them. That’s where I built the foundation — discipline, trust, and resilience.

After years spent coaching at the foundation level and officiating as a level 7 qualified referee, Rich is now setting his sights on a new challenge: stepping into football management.

For Rich, the game has always been about more than ninety minutes on a weekend. His coaching philosophy centres around development, discipline, and enjoyment, creating environments where players grow both technically and personally. He has built teams from the ground up, focusing on structure, communication, and a style of play that brings out the strengths of every individual.

His unique background as a referee gives him an added advantage in the dugout. Understanding the laws of the game from an official’s perspective enhances decision-making, discipline management, and respect on the pitch — crucial foundations for any successful club.

Now, Rich is ready to bring that experience into a leadership role. He is actively exploring opportunities with clubs who value ambition, community, and a long-term approach to success. Whether developing youth talent or guiding an adult squad toward their next milestone, his commitment to progression is unwavering.

Bromsgrove Sporting Announce the Appointment of Rich Robinson​

Bromsgrove Sporting Football Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Rich Robinson on a 1 year contract, who joins the Rouslers as the newest addition to our leadership team. Rich arrives with a strong background in football development, local engagement and performance culture — qualities that align perfectly with the club’s ambitions both on and off the pitch

The appointment reflects the club’s ongoing focus on forward-thinking development and long-term planning. As we enter the next chapter, Rich will be working closely with players, staff, and supporters to build momentum for the seasons ahead.

Rich Robinson had the following to say about his appointment “This is a proud moment — Bromsgrove Sporting is a club with real heart and incredible support. I’m excited to play my part in the journey ahead and help push the team towards future success.”

Bromsgrove manager Rich Robinson faced his first press conference since taking over and had to answer some hard questions.

a few highlights of the interview were that he understands the pressure that he will come up against but willing to work hard to ensure that the pressure wont be there. He also had the following to say when asked about the fans.

"I want the fans to know that we're all in this together and, if we are patient and work hard, good things will happen" this shows that he wants the whole club to be united and that he knows that this will not be a easy ride but hopes he has the time to get a squad good enough to progress.

Robinson set for his first match in charge at this level when he sets his team to play Mickleover in a friendly in front of the home fans. This will be a good indication of how he may want his team to set up and with 4 trialists set to play he will be looking to see if they will fit into the team and how they will help.

No indication yet of who the players are as no statement from the club on who has come in on trial. Robinson will also be looking at what players he has inherited also to see if they will fit in his plans.

One thing we will know is that with this being his first game in charge he will want a good performance and will be more for the fitness to.

Football is back at the Victoria Ground!
New season energy, new faces, same passion

New boss Rich Robinson has announced and sent out his 1st team sheet and below is the starting line up.

Fans will notice that Ollie Camis, Tyrell Giwa, Ramello Mitchell and Tom Hill are that four trialists that start having not been here before Robinson. Some of the fans are excited to see what these four players will bring while others look bemused as to why all four start.
Robinson looks like he has set his team to play with wing backs with one up front.

Its finished 1-1 here at Victoria Ground with some decent football from both sides.

Robinson's men dominated the game with 16 shots and 61% possession but just couldn't get over the line for the win. Mickleover went 1-0 up when Fin Ryder scored for the visitors in the 73rd minute before and long range shot from trialist Ramello Mitchell scored the equaliser in the 89 minute to rescue a draw.

Robinson after the game was said to if been happy overall with the way the team played but disappointed that only a draw was the result in the end while saying if that is a sign to come for the league he feels this team can go far once composure in the team is there.

A trip now to Long Eaton and Rich Robinson has named his squad again with more trialists coming in to help the lads during pre-season and maybe try earn themselves a contract.

Three changes for Bromgrove then are:-

Luke Nippard starts and comes in for Newell
Will Banega come in for Taylor Morrison
Luke Benbow comes in for trialist Tom hill.

A comfortable 2-0 win for Bromsgrove today with goals coming in the first half.
Ramello Mitchell stole the show with a goal and an assist to Luke Benbow to help Bromsgrove beat long Eaton.
"The lads are great today especially Ramo, thats 2 goals now for him since coming here and he brings us some much quality. We have to give Long Eaton credit as they did not give up" Said Robinson after the game but was silent when asked about any potential transfers incoming or outgoings.

Bromsgrove will now prepare for their opening game in the Southern League Premier Division game against Banbury Utd on 2nd August.

Bromsgrove are delighted to announce that 3 new members if staff have joined Rich Robinson's backroom staff in Daniel O'Donnell, Ben Foster and Hannah Burgon

Daniel O'donnell Joins the team as Head of Youth after being out of a role in the game since leaving Tranmere. His knowledge in the game will be pivotal for the club having spent most of his playing career an around the North West of England.

Ben Foster, a Former Elite and English goalkeeper has agreed to join Robinson's backroom team as a coach. Ben knows the midlands area alot having being born and playing for multiple teams in and around the midlands. This is a massive statment at where the club want to be.

finally meet Hannah Burgon who will join the club as Head Performance Analyst. Hannah at just 29 will oversee the performance levels and help Robinson develop the team where required.

We welcome all three here at Bromsgrove and wish them all the best working for this great club.

The club can confirm that they today have received and reject an approach from Bootle for a loan deal for young forward Kobe Hall. The 18 year is seen to be a player held with high regard and will be pushing Luke Benbow for a place in the starting line up.

The club can also confirm that unless any player wants to leave that no player under contract will be leaving the club due to lack of depth. The club are pushing for a few loan deals but nothing yet is concrete.

A game of minimal chances from both sides here at Victoria Ground where Robinson's men come out of it 1-0 winners. Bromsgrove's experienced forward Luke Benbow with the only goal in the game on the 20th minute from an assist on the right from Josh Ezewele. Bromgrove looked very comfortable though in possession with 60% throughtout the game.

Robinson looked happy when asked about the game while saying that he was delighted to get the first win under his belt in the league and hopes that the team can learn quickly just how we would like them to play.

We wish Banbury Utd all the best for the rest of the season and hope they have a safe journey home.

We now prepare for a trip to one of the league favourites Kettering Town away

A tough day today for the lads as they suffered a 2 - 0 loss to Kettering away from home in a game that could have gone either way. Both teams looked to have researched each other and managed to share a total of 27 shots with 10 on target, while Kettering shared the more possession leading them to score in the 59th and then 79 minute.

The game seemed to have helped Robinson look to change formation and even with the substitutes that he brought on could not help. Goals from George Forsyth from the spot and non-league hot shot Leon Lobjoit scoring for Kettering.

We thank Kettering for their hospitality as the boys look towards their home game against Bishop's Stortford.

Despite going behind early on to a Nehum Melvin-Lambert goal The Rouslers composed themselves and ending up scoring just before half time from a goal from that man yet again Mr Luke Benbow off the header. This seemed to have woken Bromsgrove up as then scored half Bromsgrove went on to scored too more goals from Youngster Kobe Hall. The home fans looked excited at the youngsters attitude to help turn around the game giving Robinson his second win of the season.

Talking after the game Robinson heaped praise on Kobe saying how much he is maturing each day and looks forward to seeing how much potential he will have.

The club wish Bishop Stortford a safe journey home as we look forward to our away game to St. Ives Town

Fans may have noticed that three new faces were getting on the team coach from the stadium as they were going to set off on the supporters coach to travel to St Ives Town and that is because the club can now confirm that we a pleased to announce the signings of 17 year old goalkeeper Chris Swift from Enterprise South League side Maidstone Utd until the end of the season, 17 year old Right back Godson Leboko from Hemel Hempstead and 21 year old midfielder Myles La Bastide from Bradford (PA)

The club have managed to secure all three in time to join the squad for the away game at St Ives Town and got them all in without the need to pay any wages.

Robinson is excited to bring in these players to add depth but competition for places for the three positions.

A defeat at St Ives today has seen Robinson feeling disappointed at the performance. The team just did not get going and allowed the home team too much time on the ball and attempts at goal. The team managed just 3 shots all goal before eventually conceding in the 83rd minute leaving Robinson's men sitting 12th in the league after 4 games.

With a league prediction preview of 15th come the end of the season for Bromsgrove, Robinson will be somewhere happy to be above that at the minute but plenty more football to play for.

Robinson will be looking towards getting his team ready for Stamford to come the the Victoria Ground.

A game of two halves for Bromsgrove today against Stamford with a very commanding half half however second half The Rouslers allowed the visitors to come into the game and with registering just 2 shots on game the visitors found themselves take the lead after a towering header from Cameron Johnson.

This sparked a response from Robinson to change personnel after winger Billy Shaw also come off with an injury to his knee. A debut from winger Myles La Bastide played an great diagonal ball towards the back post for Taylor Morrison to rise and head home the equaliser in the 93rd minute to salvage a point.

Stamford caused us a lot of problems in the second half but naturally I am happy we managed to draw as think overall that was the fair result but the performance needs to be better.

We want to wish Stamford all the best.

Our Attention now turns to a short trip to Redditch Utd.

The FA Cup First Qualifying Round has been been and the club have been given Stourbridge. We will have to make the travel to the War Memorial Athletic Ground on Saturday 30th August

Robinson will be looking for any sort of cup run to gain that all important finances to help the club grow.

All square at Redditch despite the game being all Bromsgrove. The visitors could not find a break through having controlling the game. After having 16 shots and 60% possession has seen his side still draw the game but a lot of positives can be taken from the game .

Robinson seemed happy enough with the way the team had controlled but has insisted that the team needed to start putting their chances away and still need reinforcements in to help the team go to another level. When asked about any transfers incomings or outgoings then, he said we are looking to bring a few more in on loan.
