11.3 patch problem

It is probably something very simple I am doing wrong, however, I downloaded the patch and put it in the db folder in football manager 2011. Although it does not appear to work in the game.

I downloaded the PC Boxed version.
any help would be appreciated.

You don't put the patch anywhere. downlaod it to your desktop, then double click it and it will self install.
