i'm about to start a save with Benfica and was going to play Cardozo and Saviola upfront as poachers but dont know if it would work

Yes it will, search before you ask this as it has been asked before.

Make sure your mids are very creative as they will need lots of chances

also use exploit flanks and work ball into box and pass to feet as touchline shouts1

it needs a bit of work but yes it can work. Cardozo is a cracking player but he is best as a target man. I had good success with this with a combination of Frazier Campbell and Nathan Delfouneso/ Agbonlahor.

Swap position with each other should be selected, choose one of them as a targetman on the tactics screen (not position) and set to run onto ball. Drill crosses and aim to near post.

This! The best formation I think is 4-2-4 and set your winger to inside forward with through balls often.
