2014 World Cup thread

So ends another day of thoroughly enjoyable football. Once this tournament ends it's going to leave a massive void in my life.........

If second part of tournament is going to be as good as the first , I'm going to make a tatoo with Brazil 2014 logo.

I really, REALLY hope the knockout stages are this good. World Cup has been crying out for this sort of thing for a while now. Just so many highlights it's unreal
 
Cameron caught ball watching instead of marking a man. He also gave up the first goal.

I'm gutted. Going to have to put in work against germany. Good thing is we have Klinsmann and some german players on our team...so there is some familiarity.

Don't worry. Germany USA will be a draw seeing both sides through.
 
Klinsmann gave Joachim Lowe the job as his assistant when he was in charge of the German national team. He is good friends with him. I can hear Portugal shouting "It's a fix"

Also Germany have history in fixing a match this way. 1982 world cup vs Austria. They just kicked the ball around the whole match without trying to score seeing both teams go through.

Bento has to go. Can't believe the FPF gave him a new two-year contract before this tournament even started. Absolutely awful.

Only real positive is how good Carvalho looked. More than ready for this level, MUST start vs Ghana.
 
William Carvalho looks an absolute beast of a young player, every top club is surely after him.
 
If Germany top Group G and Algeria finish runner Up in Group H then it could be the match Algeria have waited for to get revenge.

Went off to bed at half-time to wake up and see that result last night... Portugal surviving by the skin of their teeth. But what a ball from Ronaldo!

Would like to see more from him before the madness of the press start speculating he is joining Spurs. Typical madness when it is a World Cup year. Player has a good spell in a match and the press reckon he is joining a Premier League club based on one goal.

Very true! 5 minutes after he scored the winner yesterday, pretty much every Tottenham related twitter account suggested he would sign within the week :P

To be fair to Bento, their isn't much he can do. Portugal really aren't a good side and their weaknesses are further explemfied considering that Ronaldo isn't fully fit either. They have lacked a top-class striker for ages and a top-class midfielder who can control the game ever since Deco retired. Their defense is shambles with Pepe being a nutcase in general and Coentrao injured. Only real positive has been William Carvalho
