2014 World Cup thread

I dont think he will be in charge come 2016. **** may of backed him but the FA is a committee not one man and one man doesn't make the decisions. I think hodgson would of been ok until he started saying 0-0 draws with Costa Rica were fantastic performances. Now the press and media have it in for him big time and looking at Roy im not sure he can take much more.

Has Suarez not done his cuntish thing, most of the papers would have highlighted about England. Now Suarez ate up all the column inches.

Yeah for the sake of England they need new manager who is not afraid to attack.

More than the losses, his comments that team gave fans something to cheer for after 0-0 against Costa Rica was more embarrassing.

Who do you think is the right man for the job? Except Hoddle.. ;)

wonder if there's still a desire for the next manager to be English, if so there's two options...

Completely different from supporting a team he has managed to watching it from an outsider. He is a one trick pony. We had major collapses in form under him in his last two seasons from February to April. For me it's get Martinez in if Hodgson does go.

I remember the drop in form but that was when he was interested in England job isn't it? All things got messier.

Also I remember that part of season well, Bale was tried as RW for the first time or so.

Over reaction about Hodgson. If some of you are too young to remember we have been here before. Euro 88. We finished bottom of the group with 0 points below the Republic of Ireland. The outcry was that Bobby Robsons tactics were too outdated. He favoured players who were more of a reputation and was pillorised in the press and fans as usual threw hissy fits that he was the manager and he should be sacked. Two years later he took us to a World Cup semi-final and we only failed to make the final from penalties. Robson was hailed a national treasure. Knee jerking gets you no where.

I remember euro 88 and you're right we were ****** awful. I think he kept his job though because the team had performed well in the 86 world cup, plus Robson said he wouldn't be renewing his contract after Italia 90.

It's all well and good to say you've had dips in form under Redknapp, but to my mind Spurs haven't done any better without him.

We were not that good in Mexico 86. We lost the first game to Portugal, drew with Morroco and only when Lineker started scoring we beat Poland. Next we tore Paraguay apart but they were not anything special and then lost to Maradona and his average Argentina side.

Brendan Rodgers. Unfortunately its 5 years too soon. He wont leave Liverpool yet. Roberto Martinez is another, British citizen now too so not really a foreign manager .

Record points total in the premier league under AVB in his first season. That was an improvement. Just unlucky the rest of the premier league was poor and gave the four teams above us more points.

Redknapp built a team at the time in the relegation zone and got you in the Champions League and consistently around 5th-7th position, I think it's easy to overlook what he actually done for you lot.

Record points kind of means nothing when you've not achieved anything better (Champions League football).

In the eyes of the FA though we done well and the press seemed **** bent on blaming Maradona being a cheat rather than Robsons performance. He was deemed unlucky.

I'd rather hedge my bets than trust Hodgson at the Euro's

It's a well known fact that when Redknapp took us over we were in a false position in the league under Ramos. He took us to a Champions league spot only because Man City had not been the big spenders and Liverpool were having a torrid time. I will argue about Tottenham all day if you want about how Redknapp is a tactical moron.

Tactical moron or not, he has a knack for getting players to perform well together and get results... I'll repeat my previous point... you haven't done any better without him during the managers you have had since.

Redknapp didn't even deserve to be sacked.. finished 4th and only missed out on CL due to Chelsea winning the CL.

Redknapp will never manage England so you might as well forget it.

Did not deserved to be sacked!!!!!! When Capello was sacked on the day he won his legal case he was offered a new contract by Tottenham and then turned it down. When he was overlooked by England he was moaning to the press he deserves a new contract. So yes he did deserve to be sacked. Redknapp then takes over QPR and gets them relegated with a host of star players. England would be playing 4-4-2 with a big little combo up front. As for getting the best out of players with his man mangement skills. Ask Darren Bent and Roman Pavulychenko how good he is about building confidence.

He was going to be sacked regardless of Chelsea winning the CL. Your point is? apart from wanting to argue with everything I say on here.

Not saying he should, just think he gets stick unfairly... he is a good manager and was a better contender than Hodgson.

Hodgson failed with Liverpool and managed to do pretty well with Fulham *clap clap*

Redknapp failed at West Ham with a host of young stars and got them relegated. Failed at QPR with a host of decent signings and got them relegated. clap clap

The FA dont always go for the best managers though. They like managers who dont have opinions and who dont make waves. Managers like Woy Hodgson .

Redknapp never got QPR relegated, Mark Hughes done that by the time he got sacked, it was near impossible for Harry to avoid that situation.

Who can blame him for waiting... England is his country.. I'm sure he wanted it more than managing at Tottenham (no offence), so when he realised England wasn't coming that's when he wanted the extension of his contract at Spurs.

Oh yes lets ask 2 players in the whole of his managerial career... that's really fair... even SAF had players who would put bad words for him.. Pogba? Does that make him bad as well?

Point is he got you to 4th, no manager has done any better, so I don't get the stick he gets.

Redknapp had six months to get QPR out of the relegation zone. He spent millions in the January transfer window. Errr he was in charge when they went down. So yes he was responsible.
