2014 World Cup thread

Absolutely terrible game to watch too. Belgium is so predictable that you know Argentina is going to win the game when its 75th minute after they have used all their changes, turn to route one football and lump the ball forward. Their players can't even stay onside for any of their promising attacks.

Subbing Hazard for Chadli with Januzaj on the bench has to be a sackable offence, surely?

Imo think the Belgian FA screwed it up by appointing Marc Wilmots ... He is not good enough to manage such a talented group of players

I agree. A lot of people are thinking how good he is because all the subs he made produced, but he had been underwhelming ever since I started watching Belgium this World Cup. His tactics are plain and has a strange obsession with Chadli.

Messi must be absolutely sick of Chelsea keepers! That's now 8 games since he scored against Courtois! Thought it was a pretty poor game of football and Belgium offered very little. As i predicted before the tournament i felt their coach is out of his depth.

Anyone knows how many teams got back from a 1-0 or more to win the game this world cup?
I can only remember Holland doing that against Spain, Australia and Mexico.

Ivory Coast vs Japan
Costa Rica vs Uruguay
Switzerland vs Ecuador
Belgium vs Algeria
Ecuador vs Honduras

All games were in the first 2 rounds of group stages. Then World Cup become really predictable.

Belgian never looked dangerous at all this entire WC ... They made it this far through the sheer talent of their players alone

However, I think they have a really good chance for Euro 2016. Most of their squad should be peaking by then ... Id say appoint a new coach before it's too late and let him mould a team for Euro's. Wilmots isn't good enough

The thing i love about this Dutch side is how versatile they are! 3-5-2, 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-4-1-1 and now 3-4-3! England barely have a plan A!!! These players learn this as kids playing in unfamiliar positions so they are comfortable with it when they reach this level!

Neymar out of the World Cup. Fractured Vertebrae

**** Neymar tbh. Brazil from the start are playing like typical Scolari team - high intensity and attacking every ball on the edge of the foul. Opponents respond appropriately and every game turns into open war. Brazil brought it on themselves. Neymar himself hit Modric in the face the very first game, and now media paint him a victim and complain that such great talent is being hunted. No, he's hunted because he's a ****.

People keep telling me this is the best World Cup ever but I don't see it. Another dull game that is probably gonna be decided by 1 goal or in the extra times.

group stages were fantastic, knock-out stages less so but that is expected when the games are straight knock-outs. Both teams have something to lose

I understand but just few pages back people were telling me that the knockout stages are great. I might just be way more grumpy than normal people because it's facking 5am in the morning here and I'm watching a snoozefest - and for the whole playoffs! Doesn't help at all when there is extra time and I have stay up even longer...

It's the Neymar who Cried Wolf. Fall over crying every time you're touched and my sympathy for you when you get injured is drastically reduced. Don't think I'm in the minority either.

Personally think its because a lot of the sides went all out in the group stages, may be taking its toll on the sides now.

I feel for the young lad because he was one of the players of the tournament so far and this is his world cup. But i don't feel for Brazil on the whole, they have got away with challenge after challenge and are quite physical themselves.

I'm sad Neymar is out, but equally I'm sorta happy. It's an odd feeling. I'd never wish injury on a player, but Brazil need to be taken down a peg, and I hope they get Muellered against Germany.
