2014 World Cup thread

I'll stand on my own then, but Messi didn't deserve golden ball, I'll stick to it.

Wouldn't be my first choice either, but its not like they gave it to Glen Johnson or something. Its just an award, not worth getting worked up about it.

Not surprised. Brazil have plenty of competent keepers though, Jefferson's arguably the best of them.

Can't believe Scolari left any of Atletico's players at home after the season they had. Miranda and Filipe Luis literally should of been in the squad without fail.

But Fred and Jo, got to be up there for the worst Brazilian strikers to participate in a world-cup.

I'm quite interested to see who the new manager picks during the Copa America next year. I don't know that much about Brazilian football, but they produce talented attacking players and I've seen snippets of a couple of young strikers waiting in the wings. Players like Thalles, Victor Andrade and Ademilson. I wonder if they'll ever get their chance in the senior team.

I'm going to be interested to see what happens to Brazilian football after the complete and utter destruction they endured.

I could seriously write a 10k dissertation on why Brazilian football is ******(ok I am exaggerating a tad but it would be lengthy;) ), they have a lot of work to do and face some similar problems to England really regarding there youth setup. I am really interested to see if scolari goes or not I've seen a lot of talk about São Paolo coach (name escapes me) taking over but I think this only gained momentum since zico came out and said it. But interesting times for brazil need to take a long hard look at themselves

Has scolari gone? I saw he got a reprieve of the head of the governing body but I fully expect him to go

Well done to Germany fully deserving World Cup Winners. This is what happens when a whole counties football association comes together! After failure back in 1998 they restructured the academies and the whole coaching set-up and how they do things and look where they are now! Arguably the best club team in football in Bayern and now the best national side.

And what's England's answer????? A ******* B league!!!!!! 100% we will be complaining about the same things in 10,20 and 30 years time!

Must also say i thought i switched to Comedy Central not SkySports News when i saw Messi had won the player of the World Cup! The day Fifa/Uefa stop sucking the **** from out of his **** is the day football will be a better place! Unreal footballer, arguably the best of my generation but he wasn't even in the top 5 best players of this tournament! ******* joke

In my generation so from France 98 this is by far the best World Cup and Germany winning it is one of the best world cup wins ever in my eyes.

Brazilian media reporting Scolari has been sacked by Brazilian FA

Yeah just seen on sky sports app that the Brazilian Football Federation have decided not to renew his contract, so much for the president elect having his back haha

Tbh, for me Messi wasn't even Argentina's best player. Mascherano was their best player in the games that mattered. I also would have put Rodriguez, Muller, & Neuer ahead of Messi.

I'm jumping on the Adidas Golden Ball marketing conspiracy theory bandwagon. (;

Oh you poor sensitive soul ...

Really!!!!!! You need to learn to stop taking cheap shots at people when someone else has told you what a prat you acted with your earlier response.

On more related news other than idiots. Scolari has resigned.

Look who is getting their pants in a twist now rofl

Do you know how to conduct yourself on a public forum? If not then please learn to how to as you need some sort of lesson how to.

Gary Neville has stated that it would be impossible for England to follow the German plan for getting a decent national team within ten years.

BBC Sport - World Cup 2014: England cannot copy Germany - Gary Neville

Funny he has stated this considering he is in the know with the FA as the precedent given to grass roots coaches is to follow this route.
