3-4-2-1, Can it work?

Basically, I'm about to start a save with Wigan & I'm a huge fan of their 3-4-2-1 formation that Roberto Martinez has brought to the club.
But can it work on Fm13? I've tried 3 in defense with Man City & it failed....miserably!

So I was wondering if it was possible to pull off successfully with a lower Premier League side & if so, how do you pull it off?

I don't want links to 3-4-2-1 tactics, I just want a few decent pointers.

Ι have been playing 3-4-1-2 which is colse enough to yours (with wb, and not ML MR) with very satisfactory results. It works better if you have one SW and 2 DC, than 3 DC
