So I'm playing an online save with 2 friends and I just got promoted to the Premier League with Norwich. Finished 2nd last season and the problems are kinda carrying on to this season. The problem is: I dominate every game but we don't score. I know I'm not supposed to always win or score but ****, not this badly. Most of the games we end up with 30 shots, about 10-13 on target and we only score once or twice. What can I do to help this situation? I've tried changing training, roles and still nothing!

Extremely high tempo. Extremely short passing. Extremely attacking. That needs top level players. You don't have that.

Add to the fact that you have 3 forwards on attack duty, so they're not really providing anything different. The 3 of them will charge forward to try and overload the defence centrally. What happens when that breaks down? What happens if the defence simply sits back, waiting for them? They're not creating space and they're having to do everything at a massive tempo. They won't have space and they'll be rushed. It's not a good setup.

I'm also wondering just how much the 3 up front (particularly the AMCs) help out in defence?

How much do your wingers help defending the flanks?

Side note: Training doesn't affect match performance, unless you're talking about match prep training.

When the opposition is in the byline, my AMC'S normally fall back a bit, but maybe not enough. The striker stays up there all the time.
My wingers don't help defending much, so probably I should change the role to Defensive Wingers? If the opposition starts using the wings, my CB will mostly go there. Then my winger goes too and we have a huge space to fill in the middle.

What do you think I should change? I'm literally clueless and I'm kinda trying to learn tactics. I used to only download built ones.

Use wingbacks, wide midfielders or defensive wingers rather, imo. What's weird is if you've noticed this, why not change it? You're not that clueless as you've picked up on it too, but for some reason you left it as is. Up front is your issue though and the thread Cleon linked will help there as well as what I've said.

I have a similar 3-4-1-2 tactic with Basingstoke. I love the idea of an extra man in midfield but still the goal scoring power of 2 up front. However I'm also a perfectionist in making sure they all offer a passing option to the man on the ball.
I have tweaked this many times as I had a lot of the problems you have. However I started in conference south and in 4th season am looking to get promoted from league 2 after a mid table finish. This is how my tactic looks so far;
Very Fluid/Attacking
SK Attack
CD Defend
CD Defend
CD Defend
DM- BWM Defend
DM- DLP Support
CM Attack (roam)
RM- Winger support (I usually agree with WJ but I think winger on support is defensive enough)
LM- Winger support
Defensive Forward Defend (one with better work rate etc and aggression)
poacher.

you probably have you're own way of playing which I'd stick to if I were you- by all means try my tactic as I'm intrigued as to how it'll fair in higher leagues. But my defensive line is high and my tempo is high and I retain possession with short passing. Hope this helps!

You'll get away with the wingers because you have 2 DMs to cover.

Agreed, I didn't look at his setup beforehand. I also notice the absence of any ball winner? I've always found it hard to make a successful tactic without a ball winner in midfield

I would remove all TI's and play simple fluid attack first and make changes according to that. Regarding player roles and duties, I noticed you don't have anyone stretching them, and you are trying to score. Perhaps wingers should be given attack duties so they drive to byline stretching them and making room for those three attackers?
