I made a new version of the TM and Cm scoring tactic I uploaded yesterday, tried it out with my Tottenham team 2nd season, beat Real Madrid 4:0 at the Bernuabeu, 3:1 vs City at the CoMS. Tried it with a new Arsenal save I made last night as I felt Arshavin and Nasri would compliment this tactic and it did! having really good results with it.....

I call it the Superhuman tactic cause it looks like a human (well chicks body) it plays really sexy football and creates on average 3-6 CCC's per game! I destroyed Real and City!

I've scrapped the idea.

Nothing wrong with the tactic.

But It just doesn't fit what I want.

I prefer balanced utility of CMs. Only having 1 in the tactic bothered me for some reason. I base a lot of my tactics on quality of regens I can bring in. I don't like the thought of having 2 DMs and 2 AMs who are essentially specialist players. DMs with high tackling/marking with low passing and AMs with high passing and dribbling but low strength and defensive stats makes me nervous.

I'd rather have CMs who can contribute to all aspects and can be easily swapped out.

Therefore I reverted back to perfecting an old tactic I was working on. The 4-3-2-1 christmas tree. Yes it uses those 2 AMs that freak me out, but they are used more as Second Strikers which allows me to focus on finding AM regens with good finishing.

2 outside CMs drop deep and break up attacks, but can also contribute to attack. Center CM is on full creative role, just like in the "hour glass" formation.

This christmas tree formation actually looks like the "Hour Glass" formation on the average position analysis, Except the outside CMs are pushed up higher, and there is much better linkage between midfield and attack.

Oh, and I'm trying a new technique. I'm putting the two AMCs to specific mark the LB and RB. This way the AMCs are forced out wide and track back more/ they limit opponents passing options / and when we win the ball, the AMCs act like Wingers who cut inside aggressively. Often times they only have one man to beat (the sidebacks) which really opens up the opponents defense!

too bad, I kinda liked that formation!

I can understand you though as I always found more success with a flat three midfield in FM11 (4-3-3; 4-3-1-2; 4-3-2-1). The three CMs are always the key of my tactics, with the central CM acting almost an anchor man and MCR/L being a sort of "ball winning playmakers". Can dominate the midfield against anyone ;)

IRL I'm a fan of double-pivot formations but never liked how they work in FM11 :p

Sounds great, mind you tell me a bit more of that? Or maybe open another tactic thread ;)
