Hi i need some help with my tactic it has served very well up until now.... I have gone 10 games with only taking 3 points. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? Defense was always solid for the 4 years i used this tactic and now all of a sudden its a shambles at the back... conceding 3+ goals a game and getting smashed by crappy teams.
My team is quality year 2021 (lots of regens)

Attacking
Balanced

GK(D)

RB(D) CB(D) CB(D) LB(D)

CM(S) BWM(D)

W(A) AP(S) W(A)

CF(A)

Shorter Passing
Pass Into Space
Run at Defence
Exploit the Flanks
Push up Higher
Hassle Oponents
Tighter Marking
Higher Tempo
More Expressive
Play Wider

No SS because I am at work...Bored! lol

Please help!!

Firstly I'll say I'm rubbish with tactics so I can't offer much advice but what I would say is it's usually pretty hard to play short passing AND high temp so maybe change your tempo to slower? Change your fullbacks to support usually helps alot because there will be a big gap between your midfield and defence for opponents to exploit. Try lowering your defensive line too if you're conceding too many.

Like I said though I'm no tactician so if I was you I would take my advice on board but wait for someone else to offer advice aswell :)

Maybe tweek it a little bit and drop your BWM into a DM position and play a 4-1-1-3-1 possibly setting him as a half back, then you can allow your full backs to attack as well.

OK thanks guys, i was thinking of changing the FB instructions to Auto or support. I know High temp and shorter contradict each other but it seems to work very well, i dont have issues with possession and shots its just the defense that are dodgy

I personally love to play a 4-2-3-1 as well, yet I have my full backs set to 'attack', as complete wing backs. I love to set my defensive midfielder to an anchor man, he just sits in that gap between defense and midfield and intercepts/wins the ball- whilst protecting the back four. He is more efficient than a ball winning midfielder, because he can also set up plays whilst covering the back four. My other midfielder is set as a DLP/BBM, he is usually given a lot of creative freedom to spray balls out to the wingers/attacking midfielder. The defensive midfielder will also help to dictate the tempo- which definitely needs to be set as "lower". Not much lower, just lower- the players will then move the ball around a lot better and wait for the opening.

Good luck mate!

you play with a DM a CM and a AM? will give it a try sounds good.
