Is it even possible to make your team play even remotely good with the 4-2-3-1 formation?
I've tried almost a dozen different saves, all with the same end result.

In my honest opinion I still think the match engine is a piece of sh*t and it's not even near a realistic football simulator.

Yes it is. I have played about 10 seasons with that formation and it works good. Mind you, it's important to recognise its pros and cons and know what a 4231 is in relation to one with DMCs etc.

I have tried it aswell and to be honest, the result is being sacked. I recently worked on my own tactics for Dortmund and found that the 4-3-1-2 is extremely deadly while you play on control.

I suppose that depends on how you play it, and what players you have at your disposal. I'm playing as Barcelona at the moment, and changing the player roles and my settings for width/tempo have made all the difference between the team playing poorly and inconsistently, and playing fantastic football. During the start of the season, when the team played poorly, I insisted that they should play a very narrow and slow game. But tweaking the tempo and width made a lot of difference, as well as changing my inside forwards roles to support.View attachment 362865

I've got a feeling though that this tactic will only work with other top-tier teams with great technical abilities like Barcelona.
And yeah, you're not the only one who is struggling a bit with the match engine this year around, lol.

Raikain's is excellent against weaker opposition, I'm trying to create one that works against tougher or equal teams.

I've been using Real Madrid mostly to try it out, they've got an almost perfect squad for a 4-2-3-1, but I still can't manage to make them stable against the top tier teams.

The only tactic that seems to be stable is a simple 4-4-2. Crossing seems to be the only stable way to score goals aswell...

I'm using at the moment as Arsenal. It's really unstable though, it seems rotation is the only way to get anything out of it even if a player is on top form. I've got Walcott up front and he'll score 4 games in a row and then go dry for 4 and so on in a cycle, same with Jovetic and Wilshere who i have to switch between as they'll just disappear from matches despite being on a world class run.

Will probably limp through the season and change, think i'm 4th atm.

It's great against top tier teams too imo.

I think altering the team instructions is very important with this tatic, I use it with my Tottenham team when playing at home and with the right tweeks and alterations there no stopping them.. After a season of swapping changing and adjusting sliders it works a treat haha
