4-2(CDM)-3(CM/WM)-1 Question

Has anyone ever gotten a 4231 deep to work? With 2 holding midfielders and then the 3 'advanced' midfielders being in the CM and WM strata? If so, how do you go about approaching this formation - would it be more counter attacking?

It's fair to say it will normally be more counter attacking as you have all but 1 player coming deep to defend.

It can work but your striker got to work extremely hard to hold up the ball when he has it and press alot when his team doesn't have the possession.
