It's been a turbulent fortnight at Newcastle United. Chris Hughton's sacking shocked the St. James' Park faithful and eyebrows were raised when the hardly overly successful Alan Pardew was appointed in his place.

A lack of experience was cited as the reason for Hughton's dismissal, and with a possible eye on the January transfer window it was perhaps such experience in the market that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was referring too.

According to reports, Ashley is ready to give Pardew a sizable transfer kitty to strengthen his side, with some suggesting it could be as much as £20 million.

Where the Magpies do need bolstering is up front.

Andrew Carroll has had a sensational start to the season with 10 goals and five assists in 17 games – an efficiency ratio of a goal or assists every 96.33 minutes. But the 21-year-old is lacking a strike partner to take a bit of the weight off his broad shoulders.

Shola Ameobi has put in a good effort with three goals and two assists. But the 29-year-old, once considered a hot England prospect, has not really met expectations, and one gets the feeling if the Magpies want to push on, they could do with signing a top striker to provide Carroll with better foil.

Newcastle youngster Nile Ranger is an interesting prospect, but at 19 years of age, he's not quite ready yet.

While the Magpies are unlikely to
spend £20 million on one player, here are four strikers IMScouting feel Pardew should realistically take a look at.

With an efficiency ratio of a goal or assist every 87.74 minutes, Suazo was the most effective attacking player in the Mexican top flight this season.

The Chilean scored 16 goals and set up four, helping his side clinch the Apertura title.

In spite of his chubby physique, Suazo is an extremely dangerous striker from any range.

He has very good movement and flair, and likes to play with one touch. Suazo is a courageous player who tends to raise his game in important matches, and indeed scored three times in the championship playoffs.

Suazo might not be the fastest and his heading game is not of a high calibre, but his strength and dribbling skills make his so hard to play against, and he could certainly pose a challenge to Premiership defences.

He has scored 18 goals in 45 games for Chile.

The former Liverpool man, so unlucky with injuries in the past, is really showing what he can do, albeit, critics would say, in the Greek league.

The Frenchman has been in sparkling form for Panathinaikos Athens with 13 goals and an assist in 19 games – an efficiency ratio of a goal or assists every 87.54 minutes.

Cisse is a quick, skilful and explosive striker, who has an excellent right foot, great heading ability, and has improved his finishing.

He scored 13 goals in 49 games during his injury-plagued time at Liverpool, and later found the net 10 times in 35 games for Sunderland. The figures would suggest that if given a run of games, Cisse does have it in him to adapt to the Premier League.

Current Sunderland boss Steve Bruce might have called the Egyptian the most unprofessional player he has even worked with after coaching the player at Wigan, but he could never deny his terrific talent.

Zaki is keen on getting back to high-level European football, and if his eagerness is matched by the willingness to learn from his mistakes, he can be a real asset to Newcastle.

He has scored three goals and set up another in seven games for Al Zamalek Cairo this term, a goal and an assist every 156.5 minutes.

Zaki, who has scored 33 goals in 61 games for Egypt, is a very dangerous striker. He has fantastic movement without the ball and he is a very strong player, who is excellent in the air and always works hard for his team.

His cash-strapped club would find an offer difficult to turn down, and would even be willing to loan him out in the hope that his value will rise.

Another forward on staggering form of late, with 16 goals and two assists in 25 games, and a league efficiency ratio of a goal or assist every 111.7 minutes.

Stancu is considered one of Romania's biggest promises for many, many years.

He is a gifted striker who can score goals from almost any range with either foot and is a free-kick specialist. He is a very dynamic player with good speed and heading ability.

He is certainly a player on the rise, and recently won his first five caps for Romania, scoring once and providing one assist for his country.

Stancu would be the cheaper option i would think but i would get in Cisse.

I saw this article yesterday and fundamentally disagree with it. Ranger has been very dangerous while he's been playing (and was lethal at u18/u19), he needs game time to get his composure back and some more confidence at this level. Before we look at signing any competition for up front we first need to offload at least one of Best / Xisco / maybe Lovenkrands, and when we do sign a new striker, we don't want Zaki/Cissé bringing unrest to the club, and Suazo at 29 is getting on (we're trying to have a young squad).

Also the stats for Carroll are wrong, he has 10 goals and 6 assists in 16 games + a 15 min sub appearance.

I would get Bojan or some other youngsters from Barca on loan. They are class. BTW, Barca raped Expanyol today, 26 goals in 5 games, what a machine

Would kile to see Stancu, is a huge prospect. We were linked in summer with him.

Cisse is lightening fast, but he has played for the Mackems, which is a minus.

Suazo I haven't seen a great deal of, but does look to be a brilliant player, although Mexico's league isn't exactly huge.

Amr Zaki. not too sure, looks a quality player when he can be bothered, although he is a little too similar to Carroll in the fact that he is more a powerhouse.

Realistically, Stancu or Cisse, although dreaming it would be Humberto Suazo.

We need to offload Best, Xisco and Loven. None of them have excelled this season. Although, to be fair, we haven't seen Xisco to make a fair judgement on him.

Your back four is in way more need of bolstering imo.

Stancu was an amazing wonderkid on FM08 and FM09, haven't heard of him since.

Our back four has been solid when Coloccini and Williamson play, although both have been suspended, and it is then when we have leaked goals. Simpson has been very good since returning, and Enrique is arguably our best player behind Carroll.

Stancu has been in immense form this season. Would like to see him at Newcastle to be honest, but one of the three(not Zaki) will suit me.

I actually think we need a right winger and a attacking midfielder. Routledge is not good enough, and since Ben Arfa was injured, we have lacked a unpredictable creative player.

I thought he played well against Villa and showed some good vision to set up Carroll, but not sure exactly what the problem is with him, could be that he's been passed over so much and just isn't motivated.

We also need to put Gutierrez' place in the starting eleven under threat to get him trying again.

Yeah, he played decently. You would also think putting him on for the last 20mins or so would be good to get him in the shop window.

Stancu, looks a brlliant prospect and would be relatively cheap, dont know hetther he could the epl though,
Cisse - torid injury past but pacey and a good finisher would be expensive though but ex sunderland also
Zaki - Dunno really has cut it in the prem would be cheap also but always being unsure on him
Suazo - good option prolific.

would like to see you sign some quick to go with carroll who can chase onto the headers from him, cisse or stancu for me

I would love to see him join Newcastle, Stancu and Caroll would complement each other very well. If he doesn't leave Steaua soon we will ruin him, as we've done with loads of players in the past years because of our crazy owner...

As for this season, if it weren't for him, he would probably be fighting for relegation... Here's one of the most beautiful goals he scored in the Europa League:
