Okay so playing with Leeds United and doing well in the Championship however there is one part of the tactic i cannot get to work.

I will give some basic information

GK
CB(D) CB(D) CB(D)
WB(Au) WB(Au)
CM(At)BWD(D)CM(At)
EN(At) - OR AM(S)
P(At)

(Control)
Mentality - Flexible

Low tempo
Short passing
Exploit the middle
Look for overlap
Whip crosses

It is defensively rock solid and i create 3/4 clear cut chances per game. In fact the poacher has 20+ goals this season.

What i want from the tactic is for both centre midfielders to make runs from deep and bypass the enganche(att-s). The poacher is always looking to run in behind which stops teams pushing up and creates space for the enganche(att-s).

However the CM(At)will only go to the edge of the box and no further. I tried instructing them to "get further forward" and "run wide with ball" but it doesn't help.

I am at the moment teaching the midfielders ppm's like "Get into opposition area" but its not having the desired results.

I thought i could teach them "like to beat offside trap" but that ppm is only available to strikers.

Has anyone got any suggestions ?

Thanks.

I'm not sure what Fluidity you're using, but it may be worthwhile to use Flexible. It sets mentality (small alteration though!) according to duties, so that there's a slightly more pronounced difference between Defend, Support and Attack. It will increase the mentality of your CM/A players a little, so they may be more aggressive in looking to get into the box.

Thanks for the reply.

The mentality is set to Flexible.

Forgot to mention that.

Maybe try and use the attack mentality for your team.

Tried that and they still do not get forward far enough or break the last line of the other teams defence.

Changing to attacking also means i concede more goals

I'm just wondering if the poacher's movement is hindering their runs. He'll stay quite central so there are no obvious gaps for them to move into.

A good point. I'm in preseason having just been promoted to the premier league.

I've signed a forward more suited to an advanced forward role than a poacher (I chose this role as i wanted him on the shoulder of the defenders so they couldn't push up on the player i had in the attacking mid position. This extra space would allow him to play passes to the on rushing centre mids....thats how it works in my head !)

I will try him in that role to see if it makes a difference.

set the 2 CM's to Roaming playmakers, with the right players for this certain role you will see the RPM run with the ball through the centre, they will often run with the ball until he's been tackled or crafting out a chance for players ahead of him.

You are using exploit the middle, which means central players tend not to forward run that much, uncheck it, it doesn't do what you think it does (if you have problems recycling possession watch a couple of matches and find the units causing problems then set their passing to "pass it shorter" individually. Also you can use the rare through balls command - fewer risky passes). Use the "move into channels" command where available. Set your no10 to "more direct passes" so the rest will know and not helping him (he must be quality though for this). DON'T use RPMs, you need a super player for a RPM role, it has "run with ball often" locked and the midfielders who can move great vertically or skin opponents can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Edit: Oh and I like your tactical approach, I think you'll benefit if you use quick tempo and quick crosses instead and also through balls from your wingbacks.

Edit 2: You could also solve the forward central thingy problem by using free role to your forward (roam from position). Depending on the player, it may not work, retraining for aml/c/r positions the player helps, if it is successful you get help with possession too.
