Iain Dowie seemed the main joke circling round Merseyside. Everton fans were not amused, no one had seen this coming, the man who had resurrected the club from near relegation to a champions league finish in 2004-2005, Had been sacked.
Two hours later, the famous yellow bar at the bottom of the screen on skysportsnews was scrolling again. Background info:
As the new manager of Everton I was delighted. A lifelong fan and follower, It had always been my dream to one day, become the manager of Everton Football Club. But when I submitted that application form, I never dared to think that two weeks later, it would be me sat in Bill Kenwright’s office as the manager of Everton. For many years I had sat in the Glwadys Street end. Criticizing previous managers, “why did you bring him on, hes s**t”, and “Get another striker on” seemed to be the more popular ones down the years. Now I was in the managerial position, and as a fan, I was going to bring the club to success.
Tactical + Squad Analysis:
I decided I was going to use a 4-1-2-2-1 formation.
I aim to utilize two quick inside forwards with good dribbling ability to supply me with goals along with my striker. The use of a false nine in my formation helps a lot in my opinion, he drags the central defenders out of position leaving lots of space for my inside forwards to exploit.
My Squad:
Howard will be my first choice keeper, with Jan Mucha providing stern back-up, Iain turner is not in my plans, I will try and sell him or loan him out maybe.
Fairly strong area for Everton, I re-trained Marouane fellaini to play centre-back as his stats and physique very much suit it. I have also re-trained Phil Jagielka as a right back. Hibbert I will look to sell, Heitinga will be used in midfield. I do however feel i need another left back as back-up to Leighton Baines. [/SIZE]
Again, fair amount of quality players, The AMR + AML positions, can be covered by Pienaar, Bilyaletdinov, Osman and Gueye. Although i may look to shift osman, as he is not up to scratch, so another player may be drafted in there. As fellaini is going to be used in defence, I may need to bring in a more defensive midfielder to cover there.
Vaughan, for me, is not going to reach the potential to be first-team, He may be sold. Yakubu for now will be first choice, with Saha providing back-up. Jermaine Beckford will be placed on the transfer list.
Potential Transfers in;
LB – Dodo,Fabio Coentrao, Sebastian Boesnich.
DM – Anthony Annan, Lassana Diarra.
AMR/L – Nam tae hee, Sotiris Ninis.
Potential Transfers out;
Iain Turner – Transfer.
Tony Hibbert – Transfer.
Magaye Gueye – Loan
James Vaughan – Transfer
Jermaine Beckford – Transfer.
