Canada was out-performed by Peru at BMO Field. Even with Canada having the higher ball possession, they could not take advantage with their shot. This mark Jason de Vos 1st loss as the Canadian manager.

"We need to improve" said de Vos "As we are trying to move forward with our goal, we need to better. Not just the players, I need to help motivate the lads. We now have to concentrate against New Zealand."

Ashtone Morgan will want to forget this moment after scoring an own goal and receiving a yellow card.

Michael Smith made his debut today by playing the entire match. Also Dario Zanatta made his debut by coming in during the 2nd half.

The first goal of the game was an own goal by Ashtone Morgan after his clearing attempt ended on the net. Andre Carrillo made it 2-0 after a well timed close range effort. Juan Carlos Marino completed the route with an accurate finish.

Canada will head to Auckland, New Zealand where they will face New Zealand.​

The 18 year old Dario Zanatta scored his first ever goal for Canada after help them get a tie against New Zealand. Canada was superior throughout the match but could only go home with a tie.

"The disappointment was the result" said de Vos "But overall, the boys played an excellent game, believing in the process and gaining a huge confident boost when the World Cup Qualifiers begins."

Dario Zanatta, who made his debut last game against Peru, played an excellent game where every pass and shot was important. His effort even lead to a goal.

New Zealand scored the first goal of the game by Winston Reid after well timed close range shot. Dario Zanatta tied the game after a tidy finish from 15 metres.

Canada will return for their final friendlies session against Gareth Bale and Wales and Senegal in October. They will start their World Cup Qualifier Campaign against El Salvador in November.​

Canada has dropped 3 positions to 101st place, leaving the top 100 for the first time since June 2015. The disappointing result against Peru and the draw against New Zealand was a factor in Canada decline.

Canada Announces U23 Squad

Jason de Vos has announced the 23 man roster for Canada U23 as they prepare for the 2016 Olympic Qualifiers that will happen in October.

The roster mainly consist of North American clubs and the majority of them in their B team. de Vos wanted to have players with similar playing styles and picking the players knew each other.

The 23 man squad are:

Goalkeepers: Callum Irving (unattached), Quillan Roberts (Toronto FC II), and Marco Carducci (Vancouver Whitecaps FC);

Defenders: Jordan Murrell (Real Monarchs), Doneil Henry (West Ham United F.C.), Luca Gasparotto (Greenock Morton F.C.), Bryce Alderson (Fortuna Düsseldorf), Jonathan Grant (Swope Park Rangers), Chris Ouimette (Montreal Impact), and Sam Adekugbe (Vancouver Whitecaps FC);

Just days after Jason de Vos announced the U23 squad, he held a press conference in Vancouver to announce the 23 man squad for the Senior side.


Many of the regulars were featured back but some such as Jay Chapman, Cyle Larin, and Doneil Henry were not selected due to their commitment to the U23 squad.

Many wonder how will Jason de Vos will handle both Senior and U23 teams at the same time but most suggest that the U23 team will be the main focus for de Vos.

Junior Hoilett will have another chance to make his debut against Wales. He was sidelined with an injury during the Canadian training camp a day before the game.

The Canadian U23 squad opened their Rio 2016 Olympic Qualifier in style as they dominated Cuba the entire game. Kianz Froese, Vancouver Whitecaps winger, scored both goals. But the win came with a cost as one of Canada rising star Cyle Larin was injured during the match and will miss the rest of the qualifying campaign.

"Excellent play by the boys" said de Vos "We executed the game plan perfectly and it showed during the game. Vukovic had a great game for us. Its very unfortunate what happen to Larin but we have to carry on. Hopefully he will be help support us from the stands."

Jason de Vos has called Ben Fisk from Deportivo de La Coruña to replace the striker. Cyle Larin suffered a damaged shoulder and will be out for 3 weeks.

Samuel Piette was ejected from the game after getting his 2nd yellow and will miss a crucial match against their American rivals.

MetLife Stadium was packed with 250 people that see the domination of Canada. Kianz Froese scored the first goal of the game after a close range finish which was timed impeccably. Froese got his 2nd goal of the game after a well timed finish from close range. Samuel Piette was eject for the game after receiving 2nd yellow of the game when he tripped Maikel Reyes.

Also in Group B, the USA U23 defeated Panama U23 2-0 from goals by Juilan Green and Jordan Morris. By the end of the first round, Canada leads Group B with 3 points, same as USA.

Canada outplayed by the Americans, got very fortunate with the draw but was unlucky after losing another player in the tournament. Dario Zanatta scored one for Canada but Doneil Henry helped the Americans with an own goal. Jay Chapman was forced out of the field after suffering an injury. To make it even worse for the Canadians, Doneil Henry and Luca Gasparotto will miss the next game against Panama for yellow card accumulation.

"I have to admit" said de Vos "We were very lucky tonight. We need to play better against tough opponents. Doneil was very unlucky with that own goal but you cannot blame the boy since we as a group did not play well. Jay Chapman is another issue we have to deal with. We will be losing an important player but I have confident on our remaining players."

Jason de Vos called up Zachary Sukunda from FC Montreal as an emergency replacement since Jay Chapman will miss the rest of the Olympic Qualifiers.

Samuel will be available against Panama after serving a suspension for a red card against Cuba.

Debalb Memorial Stadium was soldout with an impressive 316 in attendance to see two rivals face off. Dario Zanatta scoredthe first goal of the game after a real poacher's effort from 11 metres. Doneil Henry scored an own goal after heading the ball into the net.

Also in Group B, Cuba defeated Panama 1-0 thanks to Maikel Reyes. By the end of the 2nd round, Canada still leads the group with 4 points, tied with USA.

Kianz Froese, the Vancouver Whitecaps winger, had a big game as he helped his nation with a goal and 2 assist with a 9.3 rating, winning the Man if the Match award.

Dekalb Memorial Stadium in Atlanta was packed with 97 in attendance as they witness a great performance by Canada. Kianz Froese score the first goal of the game just 3 minutes into the game after a well timed close range finish. Ben Fisk, who was called up to replace Cyle Larin, scored to make it 2-0 after an accurate finish. Dario Zanatta made it 3-0 after a counter attack with a shot from 22 metres. Ben Fisk got his 2nd after an incisive finish from 15 metres.

In the other matchup, USA had a similar result against Cuba after they defeated them 4-0, goals by Rubio Rubin, Kellyn Acosta, Haji Wright, and Marky Delgado. By the end of the group stage, Canada finishes in 1st place with 7 points, tied with USA.

Senior Canada Bullied

Just hours after Canada U23 advance to the Knockout Stage of their Olympic Qualifying campaign, the senior side had one of the most disappointing game since the 8-1 to Honduras in 2013. Sam Vokes of Wales scored 4 goals to help his nation easily win against Canada 6-1. Junior Hoilett scored in his debut for Canada.

"All that I can say that we need to be better" said Jason de Vos by telephone, "The 1st half was a otter disappointment. I have to give credit to Wales not giving mercy on us. We to prepare for our final friendly game against Senegal."

Jason de Vos will not be happy at Karl Ouimette after his awful game tonight were he had a 4.5 rating and was subbed of in the half. Two of the Wales 6 goals were cause by Ouimette's error.

Both Canada and Wales had many chances but it was Wales that were the better finisher as they managed to put 6 goals past Milan Borjan.

Gareth Bale scored the first goal of the game after a deftly executed finish. Sam Vokes made it 2-0 after taking advantage of Karl Ouimette's error to score a nice effort from 16 metres. Sam Vokes got his 2nd of the night after a powerful effort from 18 metres. Another error by Ouimette gave Vokes his hattrick after a close range finish which was timed impeccably. Junior Hoilett scored his ever goal for Canada after taking advantage of Sam Vokes' error to score a good finish from close range. Joe Allen made it 5-1 after a deftly executed finish. Sam Vokes completed the rout by adding his 4th of the night after a deftly executed finish.

Canada U23 vs Costa Rica U23

Canada U23 was drawn against Costa Rica U23 for the Semifinals matchup in the North American Olympic Qualifiers. The winner of the Semifinals will head to the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

In the CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Canada has never won the tournament after finishing as the runner-up in 1984 and 1996. They will be looking at adding a tournament win in addition to qualifying.

In the other Semifinals matchup will be Mexico vs USA.

Zachary Sukunda, the player that replaced Jay Chapman, for the Canada U23 squad is another Canadian that been injured in this tournament. Sukunda will miss the rest of the tournament. Jason de Vos has called Jeremy Gagnon-Lapare from Montreal Impact to replace the replacement.

The Canadian Journey to the Rio is over as Canada loses in a heartbreaker match against Costa Rica. Canada, the better team, could not finish their opportunities and it costed them dearly. Costa Rica will head to Rio after their win.

"I'm disappointed to be honest" said de Vos "The lads played so well in the tournament. Unfortunately we just couldn't finish. We wasted many opportunities and payed the price The only thing that we can do is to keep our heads high and hope for a great result against USA."

Canada won the Olympic gold in 1904 when they were called the Galt FC and their last appearance in the Olympics was in 1984 games in Los Angeles.

Manny Aparicio scored the first goal of the game after taking advantage of Johnny Navarro's error to score a well timed close range finish. John Ruiz tied the game after a good finish from close range. Johnny Navarro gave Costa Rica the lead after a finish from close range. Ben Fisk tied the game for Canada after a shot from 21 metres. Hugo Moraga scored the game winner for Costa Rica after a simple finish from close in.

Mexico will meet with Costa Rica in the finals after defeating USA 2-0. The 3rd place place will be Canada vs USA.

To make matter worse for Canada, Sam Adekugbe was injured during training just a day before the 3rd place match against USA. Jason de Vos has called Andre Orlando from Serbian White Eagles as a replacement.

Cyle Larin, Jay Chapman, Zachary Sukunda and now Sam Adekugbe are all problem that Jason de Vos has to deal. Canada failed to qualify to the Olympic after losing to Costa Rica and will now face the USA.​

In another trilling match against the Americans, Canada was defeated by USA in the 3rd place match. Haji Wright scored the game winner for USA in the 114th minute of extra time. Canada had to settle for a 4th place finish.

"I wish we could have finish with a positive" said Jason de Vos "But that the part of the process. We will have go to the bad moment if we want to chance the soccer culture in Canada."

Both nations had many opportunities as it was a close game but the Americans made their chances count.

Kianz Froese scored the first goal of the game after a fierce shot. Kellyn Acosta tied the game just before the half after a simple finish from close in. After 90 minutes, the game went to extra time. In the 114th minute, Haji Wright scored the game winner for the Americans after taking advantage of Jordan Murrell's error to score a well timed finish from close range.

Canada U23 will not play any more matches in the 2015 season and there is no timetable when the squad will return.​

Senior Canada Wins Tough Test

Canada pulled an upset against the favourite Senegal in the national team final friendly before they start their 2018 World Cup North American Qualifiers. Junior Hoilett scored his 2nd goal in 2 games for Canada and Jonathan Osorio scored the game winner.

"Very happy with the players" said de Vos over the phone "They win will hopefully give confidence to the players when the qualifiers start in a month. We are fortune to have a player like Hoilett who is in form with us."

Jason de Vos was not at the game as he was coaching the U23 team. The Canadian U23 lost to the USA U23 1-2 in extra time during the 3rd place match.

The game was very close both sides had many close chances.

Junior Hoilett scored the first goal of the game after a placed shot. Jonathan Osorio extend the lead for Canada just 3 minutes later when he took advantage of Ibrahima Mbaye's mistake to score an accurate finish. Demba Ba cut the lead to one but that wasn't enough as Canada held on to the win.

Canada will return in November when they will start their World Cup Qualifying campaign in El Salvador.​

Mexico Wins U23 Tournament

Mexico has the won the 2015 Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournament and their 7th title after defeating Costa Rica 3-0. Jesus Corona, Jonathan Espericueta, and Armando Zamorano all scored for Mexico. The Mexican won the tournament without conceding a goal.

The Mexican Journey was a fairly easy one as they topped Group A with 9 points by defeating Honduras 3-0, Costa Rica 4-0, and Haiti 2-0. They met USA in the Semifinals and easily defeated them 2-0 before going to the finals and winning the entire thing.

USA finished 3rd place after defeating Canada 2-1 on extra time.

The North, Central American and Caribbean section of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification acts as qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Russia, for national teams which are members of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF). Canada Calls up for Qualifiers

Jason de Vos has announced the Canadian roster of the 2018 World Cup Qualifier as the games against El Salvador and Mexico.

Surprises in the call up is 22 year old Bryce Alderson from Dusseldorf, after impressing de Vos during the Olympic qualifiers last month. The defender is a great jumper that can leap very high in the air.

Coming back to the national team are Cyle Larin and Doneil Henry are all back after appearing in the Olympic Qualifiers.

Canada will want to get to a great start in the qualifier against El Salvador and hope to get at least one point from Mexico.

The game against El Salvador will be played at the Estadio Jorge Magico Gonzales in San Salvador, El Salvador
