I am loving this database. When I saw it I thought I would start with Eastbourne but then realised they weren't in the Premier League, so I decided to start as Weston-Super-Mare and see how long it would take me to get them to world beaters. As it was my first time playing this database, I decided to use Reunion players (I will start a proper one at some point without them) and as usual with them, it was too easy. I won the Premier League at a canter and also won the League Cup (mainly cos the big sides weren't in it). The Clubs reputation at the start of the season was just over 1000 and at the end of the season it is just over 4600 (I used FMRTE cos I was interested to see how much it affected it)
Money wise I went from virtually nothing in the bank to over £50 Million. This meant, last summer I had a transfer budget of £0 and this season I have a budget of £26 Million. The club have also agreed to upgrade the training facilities and are increasing the stadium capacity.
Now to the interesting bit. Time was for a squad overhaul as I had the moeny, why not use it. The question became what players could I sign. Amazingly, there were loads I could sign. This is a list of the ones I have signed (can't upload stuff to the site at the moment so I will manaully do the list):
GK: Ben Foster. Free from Man United
LB: Joe Mattock. £6.75M from Leicester
CB: Mark Beevers. £1M from Dorchester (they had signed him 6 months before for £375k)
CB: Mark Reynolds. £1M from Motherwell
RB: Glenn Thomas. £975k from Watford. A regen 17 year old attacking RB with loads of pace and potential.
CM(d): Tom Taiwo. Free from Chelsea (although also signing Ze Eduardo from Cruzeiro for £6M)
CM(a): Mark Randall. Free from Arsenal
AML: Razvan Ochirosii. £2.8M from Steaua
AMR: Felipe Monteiro. £2.7M from Udinese
ST: Ched Evans. £2M from Man City
ST: Chris Porter. £500k from Derby
That is my first team plus a couple of other signings and loans. I was amazed at what players I can get after only one season. I have just been looking and I can sign Chrsitian Vieri, Andriy Shevchenko, even Fabio Cannavaro but unfortunately I am over my wage budget already. Never mind, I still think I've got a fairly strong team, a combination of youth and experience.
As for the big four:
Liverpool were BSN champions and Man Utd were promoted from 3rd place.
Arsenal were BSS champions and Chelsea were promoted from 2nd place.
Everton and Charlton have been the only teams so far to go bankrupt.
This database is so much fun and I am looking forward to Weston's first ever foray into Europe.
