A football stories forum?

Hey guys, recently I've been creating a new football forum. Not a forum to try and rival FM-base, but one dedicated to football stories. The type of story we've been seeing more and more of on this site recently. It's pretty much a site based around members stories from games such as FM, CM, Fifa & Fifa manager, but it also offers an opportunity for the members to create their own football stories that aren't game related. I'm pretty sure this is a unique idea, and if there is a forum that has done this before then I apologise but it's something I'm interested in, I mean I'd say about 50% of the members on here are following or enjoy reading one of the many stories on this site, so why not make one where it is prominently stories? Obviously the site will have the usual "general chat" and other non-story based forums. But for me personally there is a certain aspect to writing your own story and reading anothers that makes games such as football manager so much more fun. I'd like to know what you guys think? Especially some of the admins and mods, as I know they've been shooting down a lot of guys advertising their own forums on here.

I'm not going to post a link to the site as it's in such early development that it would just be pointless, also if anyone would be interested in giving me a hand on this project you are more than welcome to offer.

I'd be happy to answer any questions.

If that's what you are trying to do I think a blog would be better than a forum.

Sorry I don't really know what you mean by a blog? I thought a blog was a personal journal by one person? This is a forum dedicated to each members story, where people can share stories. But that's just the main aspect of it, there is other aspects.. I don't entirely know what a blog is though..

Well that's what an FM story is. They will be personal journal entries about a topic (FM). You can also have multiple users posting on one blog. But you will be able to just look at one persons posts or all etc..

I just recommend using a blog because you seemed to be emphasizing that you wanted people to come for the stories. For that Blogs are by far the best. If you have a forum with a story section (like every other FM site) it's not going to be standing out.
 
I agree but these stories aren't just looking at FM. There are many games, and many people will make stories not using a game at all, this isn't necessarily a FM forum, although I'm expecting most of the users (If I ever get it running) will be FM or CM fans. But I kinda get where you are coming from.
 
sounds like a decent idea to me :) make sure you pm me a link once you've finished it :)
 
Think Sean's idea could be good but instead of having one blog each new user had their own "blog" on which they wrote their story, you could have different themes for the blogs (to look like SkySports news, BBC Sport etc...) so it looked better. Could be quite good.

Problem with FM Stories is everyone loses interest too quickly (normally).

It's nowhere near finished, but I thought I may as well give people an idea of what I'm trying to do. Also I'm only using this skin while I edit it, feel free to check it out, just don't leave me pointless spam saying it's rubbish because this is only a couple of hours into the editing stage. hi mate if u want some help getting people to read the blog and want someone to post a story im up for it, however i would have to skip the pre season story as i have played 3 league games after i just started with Tranmere Rovers

Yeah danny that's fine, all you need to do is register. I will be doing more editing on it tomorrow, if there is any major bugs let me know. Anyone who wants to start posting you can.

i joined mate, and have opend up a topic for my tonbridge angels story i will post it all soon.
 
I am going to do a story for York City :D

Dont no what to call the thread tho any ideas people
 
Umm mate how about York city story lol, The reason it aint posted is because its not completed, at the rate im playing fm 2009 at the moment itll probably be done in about a week, and one question can u save it then edit it because i want people to see my progress rather than just read my whole season.

Hmmm it depends what angle you want to take with your story..

Yeah there is 3 ways you can do this..

1) Simply save the first thread, then post by leaving successive comments, one after another as you go through the game.
2) Submit the thread, and use the "edit" tool to update as you play through the game
3) Use the "save" button, which will then save the thread as a draft, which you can load back up and continue writing once you are further in the game.
