Earlier on today Bury welcomed new manager Lewis Dean to Gigg Lane, after the sudden departure of Alan Knill, who had been at the club since February 2008. Dean; a life time Tottenham supporter is "Very pleased to have a chance to work with the club." This is Dean's first managerial job, so he is yet to prove himself. Does he have what it takes to meet the boards expectations? Watch this space to find out.

My goals:

First season: Promotion through playoffs
Second season: Mid table in league 1
Thrid season: Push for a promotion to the championship.
Fourth season: Mid table in the championship.
Fith season: Reach the playoffs

Lewis Dean was on holiday during the first month of his career at Bury, which coincidentally is where all of his friendlies were played! Bury had difficult friendlies, and the scores reflected this. They started at home to Barnsley in a 4-0 defeat, the other teams to visit Gigg Lane were Tottenham, Man City, Everton, Man United, and Preston. Unsurprisingly, they all ended in defeats for the home side. Although Dean has been on holiday, he has managed to wheel in a few free transfers and loan deals. Most notably, Dejan Stefanovic, on a free transfer. The central defender will undoublty be leading the defence for the season. The other signings made by Dean have been cental defender Lewis Walker on a free, who doesn't look likely to start many games this season, but Dean has seen potential in him. Left back Stephan O'Hallaran has come on loan from Aston Villa and joining them, Scunthorpe's young left midfielder Ian Morris. For player stats, see below.

I don't think the players are motivated after the pre-season
Good luck

Thank you :) Unfortunately the loan offer was rejected :( What is the limit to players on loan until the end of the season? Am I right in thinking 4?

Thank you :) Unfortunately the loan offer was rejected :( What is the limit to players on loan until the end of the season? Am I right in thinking 4?

Max 4 long term under 21 from same nation, max 4 long term over 21 same nation (or something like that), max 5 loanees in match day squad (both long and short term), limit of 3 months short term loan. I'll be following btw, since I'm a Bury fan and have played a save with Bury up to halfway through second season when coursework took over.

My recommended signing would be ***** Topp from Jumilla, I signed him by offering £0, and he was league top scorer with 20-something goals. Rhys Murphy also played well on loan from Arsenal and signed full time with me in second season. Also keep Andy Bishop fit and he will get plenty of goals. (I was playing 10.2 though so don't know how much of this has changed)

What a great start to the season Lewis Dean and Bury have had! They've wrapped up some great loan deals, and they're sitting top of the league, after winning 4 and drawing one! This is what league 2 is looking like after the first month.

LeagueTable.png

So let's have a look at the 5 more players Dean has bought in to the club on loan, shall we?

Payne.png

Josh Payne. The central midfielder on loan from West Ham is yet to play a game for the Shakers, but Dean is confident he can step up and perform for the team. He is at Gigg Lane for 3 months.

Nielson.png

Gunnar Nielson. The Faroe Island international goalkeeper is on loan from parent club "Man City, until the end of the season. Having started and finished all of Bury's 5 league games, he has only conceded 3, he is becoming a favourite with the crowd already. He is with Bury until the end of the season.

Donaldson.png

Ryan Donladson is on loan from St James' Park championship team, Newcastle United, he is at Bury for 3 months, so far he has played 2 league games, scoring 2 league goals and receiving man of the match once. The central midfield position has many contenders for it, so he will have to fight his way into the team the 3 months he is there.

Baxter.png

Jose Baxter, perhaps the highest profile player to join the Shakers on loan this season, has had a very promising start, he has played 5 league games, and getting his name on the score sheet no less than 6 times! He is only at Gigg Lane for 3 months, but he is set to make the lone striker position Dean prefers to use, his own.

ritchie.png

Portsmouth's Matt Ritchie is with Bury until the end of the season, he is a young and promising central midfielder, looking to play regular first team football with the Shakers. So far having appeared 4 times, scoring 2 goals and creating 3 he has his own crowd chant -must be a record for the least games to have his own chant?!

Bury have not sold any players in the transfer window, but they decided to let terminate the loan deal with Leeds for 18 year old striker Tom Elliott. It is understood that he had a "falling out" with Lewis Dean and multiple coaching staff.

Lewis Dean is said to be very pleased with his signings, but so far is becoming a bit of a recluse with the media, preferring to stay out of the spot light, but it's going to be difficult for him to, the way his team is going! The results are below.

League 2

Bury 1-0 Bournemouth
Sam Hewson (90+1)
Bury will be really pleased with this result, it was looking destined to be a goal-less draw until Tom Elliott played a ball into the feel of Scott Hewson, who could only score from 6 yards out!
MotM: Bury's Stephen O'Halloran.

League cup 1st round
Bury 0-1 Blackpool
The first round of the league cup saw Championship side Blackpool travelling to Gigg Lane to face League 2 side Bury. The match was looking very boring until the 59th minute when Alex John Baptiste got sent off for Blackpool. The sides were looking even but Gary Taylor-Fletcher broke Bury fan's hearts with his blasted 30 yard shot, sent into the top left corner, out of the reach of Nielson.
MotM: Gary Taylor-Fletcher

League 2
Darlington 0-6 Bury
Sam Hewson (13), Matt Ritchie (28), Jose Baxter (32, 55, 60), Ryan Lowe (45+1)
Bury visited the Darlington Arena seeking a victory after their 1-0 defeat to Blackpool midweek. A victory is what they got! A rather tremendous one. With the odds pointing in the favour of Darlington pre-match, the scoreline is sure to have shocked some, especially the Darlington supporters! Sam Hewson opened the scoring in the 13th minute and Jose Baxter closed it in the 60th, marking his hat-trick and Bury's 6th of the game. The scoreline could have so easily been higher, but Darlington keeper Filip Mental had a good game, despite picking the ball out of his own net 6 times. The Bury fans are certainly happy with this result! But some bad does have to come out of all this goodness, Bury central defender and captain Dejan Stefanovic has suffered a pulled hamstring, he is set to recover in a months time.
MotM: Jose Baxter

League 2
Hereford 2-5 Bury
Matt Ritchie (1), Ryan Lowe (13), Efe Sodje (17, 83), Jose Baxter (45+2)
Bury were away from home again, this time to Hereford, in a midweek match. Bury put 6 past Darlington on the weekend, and Hereford weren't looking forward to the arrival of the in form Shakers. On loan Matt Ritchie started the game perfectly for Bury, scoring in the first minute, at the end of a run from with in his own half. The Hereford defence were looking all over the place, letting Ryan Lowe score an unmarked header just 10 minutes later. The first half was poor for Hereford, with the teams going in at half-time 4-0 after Jose Baxter's last minute goal. The second half kicked off and things were looking up for Hereford, they were through on goal 2 minutes after kick off, but Nielsen made a great save from Leon Constantine's header 5 yards out. Hereford pulled one back in the 50th minute, but they could only score one more, before Sodje headed his second goal home from a corner taken by Ryan Lowe. Good result for Bury!
MotM: Efe Sodje

League 2
Bury 4-0 Grimsby
Ryan Donaldson (8, 52) Jose Baxter (62), Efe Sodje (69)
Bury really are in great form, netting 11 in their last 2 league games! Grimsby keeper and captain Nick Colgan was hoping he had what it took to end their run, but... He did not. Ryan Donaldson scored a goal with in 10 minutes for Bury, the original shot from Jose Baxter saved by Colgan, but Donaldson got to it before any of the Grimsby defence could. There were no more goals in the first half, and the game could have been won by either side, with the managers half time team talk fresh in the players minds, Bury managed to score another against Grimsby, Ryan Donaldson again, this time scoring a marvellous lobbed shot from around 25 yards out, all Colgan could do was watch it sail over his head. Surely a contender for goal of the month? Jose Baxter and Efe Sodje got the other 2 for Bury before the ref called the game to a close.
MotM: Ryan Donaldson.

League 2
Rochdale 1-1 Bury
Jose Baxter (15)
Rochdale had a lot to do to overcome league leaders Bury. Dale manager Keith Hill was confident of a result over their local rivals. I'm sure they were happy with the score, with the form that Bury are in! Bury came close in the 5th minute, with a powerful strike on the edge of the box from Brian Barry-Murphy, but the ball smashed against the up right and into the arms of Rochdale's goalkeeper Frank Fielding. The next attack wasn't for another 10 minutes, Bury again. Brian Barry-Murphy played a one-two on the half way line with Paul Scott and then searched out Jose Baxter who was running into the Rochdale box. Baxter did what was expected of him and slotted it past Frank Fielding, into the back of the net. Rochdale replied half way into the first half, with a powerful shot from inside the area from Chris Dagnall. The ball was given away to Andy Haworth, by a poor pass from Sam Hewson. Haworth passed it into the feet of Dagnall who was unmarked in the Bury box. I'm sure Lewis Dean had something to say to his defenders after that! Not much else happened through out the rest of the game, a couple of shots from each team, but mainly they were forced to shoot from range, as the opposition defenders were pushing them back too much. Nothing came of any of them.
MotM: Brian Barry-Murphy

Board confidence update
BoardConfidence.png

Bury Manager Lewis Dean has released a short statement at the end of the month. "I am very happy with my players bought in this month, it's difficult to say how we will do so early on, but I feel that a play off place at the end of the season is more than capable" When asked what happened with Leeds striker Tom Elliott that forced the player to leave, Dean replied "He's a good footballer, a great goalscorer, but he didn't respect me nor the club, I thought it was in our best interests to send him back to Elland Road."

Thank you to all of you wishing me good luck :)

Great start, only slightly bad point is the draw against 'Dale, although they are a good side. Better than Bury did there in real life though (a 3 - 0 defeat). Jose Baxter on loan is a fantastic signing as well there, should get you plenty of goals by the end of the season.

Johnstone's Paint Trophy 1st round
Accrington Stanley 0-3 Bury
Ryan Donaldson (18, pen 86), Matt Ritchie (23)
West ham's Josh Payne is getting his first start for Bury today. Jose Baxter will be rested for the league game with Accrington in a few days time. Débutante Josh Payne has a smashing effort in the 3rd minute, to be blocked by Ian Dunbavin. We're in the 18th minute now, Matt Ritchie has played a square ball to unmarked Ryan Donaldson on the edge of the box, who runs towards the keeper and blasted it in low. Ritchie and Donaldson team up again in the 23rd minute, this time Donaldson picks out Ritchie among the Accrington defenders, Ritchie has slotted it in past Dunbavin. Time is running out in this half for the Accrington team, Andrew Proctor decides to have a go from range, but it flies wide of the post, and the referee blows his whistle for half time. Lewis Dean will be the happier out of the 2 managers. Accrington have come out of the tunnel refreshed and looking a different team, they play the ball nicely towards the Bury goal, Billy Kee with the effort inside the area, it was out of reach for the keeper, but over the bar too. Bury have a corner in the 71st minute, it's headed clear by an Accrington defender, it's fallen to Ian Morris 30 yards out, who has struck it with real venom, but it was wide and high of the target. 80th minute, Accrington are on the attack, Chris Turner plays a nice ball to Billy Kee, who finds John Miles in the Bury area, one on one with the keeper, but he fluffs it and it goes wide. David Buchanan of Bury plays the ball to Efe Sodje, who has space to run onto the edge of the Accrington area, Accrington full back Phil Edwards trips Sodje, and the ref awards the penalty! Donaldson will take it, can he stay calm and score his second of the match, securing the win for Bury? Of course he can! He sends the keeper the wrong way and Accrington Stanley out of the cup!

Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman was asked to comment on the late penalty given against them, he said "It was an awful decision, Sodje tripped over the ball and it was clearly outside of the area." He may have a valid argument, but Accrington were out of it by this point.
MotM: Ryan Donaldson

The Johsnstone's Paint Trophy Second Round was drawn today, Bury are going to travel to Vale Park, to face Port Vale who are currently sitting in 2nd place in League 2, level on points with Bury! The game will be played early next month.

League 2
Bury 2-0 Accrington Stanley
Sam Hewson (49), Richie Baker (66)
These 2 met just a few days ago, at Accrington last time, for the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Bury came out on top, 0-3 the scoreline.
Bury's first choice keeper Gunnar Nielsen is on international duty for the Faroe Islands for this match, so Wayne Brown steps in between the sticks for the first time this season. David Worrall is picked again in the defensive midfield spot, Josh Payne is rested and Jose Baxter continues his lone striker role, Ryan Donaldson is dropped back into central midfield. We're approaching the 5th minute in the game, Baxter is picked out in the centre of the park by Donaldson, Baxter plays it forward to Ryan Lowe, who smashed it into the roof of the netting! The Bury celebrations have been cut short by a whistle. The linesman had is flag up for offside. We're almost at the 30th minute now, Accrington went close but the ball was kicked up field, where Baxter was waiting for it, he has a shot, but it's parried by Dunbavin and it's gone behind for a corner. The corner was taken short by Lowe, into the feet of Donaldson who crosses it into the area, it's come off an Accrington head and out for another corner, this time on the opposite side. Nothing came of it. It is now half-time, the score is still 0-0 and not much has really happened! Maybe the managers can spur the players on? There has been a Bury sub, Ryan Lowe has come off for Richie Baker. Accrington have used up all 3 of their subs already! Sean McConville, Robert Grant and Michael Symes all off, Gary King, Darran Kempson and Bee Ami are replacing them. Scott has passed the ball along the ground to Richie Baker who is standing on the corner of the Accrington box, Baker plays a through ball into the middle of the box and Sam Hewson has pounced on it for Bury, driving it low past Dunbavin. Bury 1-0 Accrington Stanley! The first goal was seen in the 48th minute. Bury have a free kick about 40 yards out, and Hewson has gone for it! It's gone miles wide. The adrenaline must still be pumping from the goal that he scored just a few minutes ago! 66th minute now, and Dunbavin has picked up a loose ball, he's thrown it out but onto the chest of Hewson, Hewson chests it down for Worrall, who plays a perfect through ball onto Richie Baker, who has shot across the face of the goalkeeper, into the back of the net! What a super sub Baker has been, assisted for Hewson and now scoring one himself! Lewis Dean will take the credit for that. Nothing has happened since the goal, there are 2 minutes of added time in the second half. The whistle goes, and Bury have beaten Accrington twice in 5 days. Lewis Dean will be happy with that.
MotM: Richie Baker

really good layour mate, what a story needs, matty ritchie is a beast and is tearing league 2 up for me with kidderminster on my story

He is awesome, really glad I've got him all season :) Do you think I should do updates after every match? Every month? Every couple of matches? There will always be a mini report at the end of each month with things like League Table though.

Doing updates every month will be great so as to tidy things up (H)

Doing updates every month will be great so as to tidy things up (H)

Even though my game reports are now rather long? Would 4 or 5 of those not be too long? And then people wouldn't bother reading? :(

Maybe you would like to shorten your reports to like 2 or 3 sentences long? It's not neccessary to do reports for every match tho. Imo, maybe you can do reports for those big matches or against your rivals? These are just my opinions (H)

*Have a glance at my story and see how it looks like (not trying to say that my story/layout is good |) )

I'll probably stick with it how it is for a while, and if I get bored of doing long ones I'll drop it down a bit :)

September update.

Cheltenham (H)
The first half ended at 1-1 Donaldson scoring, I bought on Ryan Lowe at half time and he scored in the 45th and 91st minute.
Win. 3-1

Port Vale (A)
Dejan Stefanovic started for the first time since he pulled his hamstring, but he couldn't stop on form Craig Davies from scoring 4! Brian Barry-Murphy scored our goal, with a blast from the penalty spot.
Loss. 4-1

Crew Alexandra (A)
We're on the road again, this time to the Alexandra stadium, for what should be a thrilling encounter, between 2 teams fighting for promotion. We went into the second half with a 2-1 lead, I knew we needed another to win comfortably, Baxter did what was asked of him, scoring in the opening minute of the second half and again in the 70th to give us a 4-1 advantage. The final result, 5-1 with goals from Lowe, Sodje and Hewson.
Win. 5-1

Players of the month:
Sam Hewson, Ryan Donaldson and Ryan Lowe were the top performers this month, between them, in the 5 games they scored 8 and assisted many goals. Donaldson and Lowe teamed up on many occasions to assist each other.

League table:
Leaguetable-1.png

We're still top of the table, this time with a game in hand, against Lincoln. In the next month we're hoping to stretch the lead and continue into the next round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy by beating Port Vale, we will want revenge after our 4-1 defeat to them earlier this month.

I much preffered doing the longer reports, I think I'll continue with that :)
