Mid October Update

September 2009 – There was a long International break which only 7 of our players didn’t get called up for. So I had a quick look at the finances, currently 3.5m in the black for this season, but I have a feeling this will decrease over the season due to player wages and not enough income, however we will try!

Home to Chelsea 1-1

Samba had a good chance to win it at the end, also on another day, we would have scored 4 or 5. But again if I was offered this before the game? I would of been satisfied.

Away to Villa 1-2
AwaytooVilla.jpg

Thought Diouf rescued me a point in the 90th minute, only for Gabby to hit his second past me in the 92nd.

Home to Stoke 1-1
HometoStoke.jpg

Ok so after a bad result at Villa, really want to get back on track with a home win. Didn’t turn out that way, after putting on all the pressure, Pedersen finally made a break through, but then Nelsen and Samba both got sent off . Leaving us with 9 men for the last 10 minutes. Delap equalised in 90th minute, could have been alot worse I guess.

Away to Sunderland 1-0
AwaytooSland.jpg

Good performance here. Got plenty of players behind the ball which helped us win, Paul Robinson on quality form in goal. He was unbeatable today, top notch.

Last game of update. Home to Wolves 1-2
HometoWolves.jpg

Everything is going wrong at home!! Chance conversion is awful, again dominating the game but scoring only 1 and conceding yet again. Going to have to try bring a few players in January.
So, too sum up...
It’s been a good start to the season, sitting nicely in 8th place after 9 games. Need to work on defensive organisation at home to make sure the balance of the team is just right. Away form has been slightly better though. The sooner the home form can match that, the better!

update up to new year.

So after a good solid start to the league, this is what happened up until new year.

Away to Bolton 0-2
AwayatBolton.jpg

The better team won, fans aren’t happy with recent results, needs to change asap.

Home to Arsenal 2-0
HometoArsenal.jpg

Cracking performance! Exactly what the fans want to see. Hope to build on this and get more points and goals in the bag.

Away to Man Utd 1-1
AwaytoManUTd.jpg

A real cracking performance from goalkeeper Paul Robinson, Utd went up but Reid equalised well in the 45th minute. And we kept united frustrated in the second half, stopping them from scoring at all.

4 points from 6, when in all honestly I expected maybe 2 at a push. Jack Hornett and his squad are said to be over the moon over the last 2 games and are trying to make this form continue.

Home to Liverpool 1-2
HometoLiverpool.jpg

Yet again disappointment. Had chances to score, and Samba getting sent off for the second time this season? Fine will be in the post for him. Fair play to Pepe Reina though.

Away to Fulham 2-1
AwaytoFulham.jpg

Yet again, lose at home then win away. Diouf also now wants to leave the club after I warned him over getting sent off, rather disappointed with him. But a good performance at the cottage to get 3 more points :).

Home to Birmingham 2-0
HometoBham.jpg

Very nice performance again, 2 wins in a row, great results again.

Away to West Ham 1-1
AwaytoWestHam.jpg

Solid result, happy with the point. 3 games without losing, 7 points out of 9.

Home To Portsmouth 1-1
HometoPompey.jpg

Very embarrassing, should of scored at least 2 against the bottom of the league side. Especially when they only had 10 men for the last 15. Need some more creativity upfront!

Home to Wigan 0-2
Before the game in the press conference I was asked ‘How will the last result against Portsmouth affect your team?’
I replied, ‘I expect my team to be fully up for this game, it is a weaker opposition and we should be dominating and scoring many against these of these calibre.’
HometoWigan.jpg

The Blackburn squad got the hairdryer treatment after this game. Jack Hornett was not impressed what-so-ever. Big change around for next game.

Away to Hull 2-0
AwaytoHull.jpg

Good performance again. Roberts coming off the bench to secure the win. This win could be key.

Away to Burnley 1-1
AwaytoBurnley.jpg

Average result I guess as we did draw to them at home. Last minute equaliser was a kick in the teeth though. Still, 2 games unbeaten now and I’m looking to get a good result next against spurs.

Home to Spurs 1-4
HometoSpurs.jpg

Biggest defeat of the season so far, completely outplayed, none of our players got a foot in really, spurs also had a controversial goal ruled out. Some good long shots which turned into goals for spurs. Didn’t deserve to lose by so many. I am very disappointed in our defence today. It’s a bad way to end 2009.

Well now at the end of December, we are sitting in 9th position as of the loss to Tottenham. I think 9th is a good place to be at this stage. We have been very realistic this year, and although we have made some good upsets and frustrated big teams, we have dropped crucial points. However, this season so far can be seen as nothing but a success, here’s the league table so you can check out how we’re doing!
LeaguetableDecember.jpg

TRANSFER WINDOW
Ok so now aswell as more crucial league games, we have the transfer window, we have 3.47m available to spend so maybe 1 or 2 forwards may come in. Well I am looking to bring in at least 1 forward or attacking midfielder as we need more creativity going forward, and if there’s the right man, I will invest in an achor man.

OVERALL
I regard this season as good and progressive so far and hopefully is a stepping stone to greater things, however, we will have to continue these performances till the end of may. Then have a look over things, see what I want to change or if players don't fit. Prepare for next season. While doing all this I will keep note of the finances if we want to spend in the summer, starting from this transfer window, 2010 here we come!!

Thanks for reading,
hope your enjoying still!

New year - February 2010 update

Right well hopefully you’ve read through everything so far, if not, I would recommend too as this season has been quite exciting so far with some ups and downs, anyway, back to the story :D

Ah, New Year, nothing better than a fresh start and bad memories from last year erased. It’s been thrilling with Blackburn so far, I have got the team to play some quality football when they can actually be bothered!! Anyway, today we begin our FA Cup campaign, got a potentially difficult game away at Barnsley. Then after that, we have a awfully challenging run of premier league games. Starting at Eastlands and ending at Stamford Bridge. So here we go, 2010 here we go!

Barnsley away FA Cup 3rd round 3-1
Facup3rd.jpg

Was a little shocked when Barnsley went 1 up, Good response from the lads and a solid win in the end, bring on the fourth round!!

Not that confident over this one, Man City away 1-2
Awayatcity.jpg

Not a bad loss really, Djalo had a chance to score in the 93rd min but headed over the bar, never mind, didn’t except anything.

Home to Everton 1-0
HometoEverton.jpg

Very nice performance, clean sheet and scored through Roberts, good 3 points gained.

Home to Peterborough, FA Cup 4th Round 2-0
Facup4th.jpg

Good comfortable win to progress through to the next round, bring on the fifth round!!

Home to Aston Villa 2-1
HometoVilla.jpg

Great win, the boys really played well today and we had a goal disallowed.

Jimmy Briand
Briandfreetransfer.jpg

Signed him on a free, hoping he’ll support the other lads in going forward and even bag himself some goals, and if he doesn’t settle it. Can’t wait to see him in the summer! Briand said to me he was ‘delighted’ to be coming to England in the summer.

Away to Chelsea, Good luck lads 0-3
AwaytoSki.jpg

Was a longshot if we were going to get anything here.

Away to Stoke 2-0
Awaytostoke.jpg

Cracking result! Definitely going to help us with our ambition.

Could Blackburn shock England and qualify for Europa League?
After being positioned 7th in the table with 12 games left, in his latest press conference, Jack Hornett has stated that Blackburn have the quality to qualify for Europa League.
‘Look we have a great chance, we’re 7th in the league, 12 games remaining, some tough, but then so too have our competitors got tough games? And if we can’t qualify via the league, we’re in the 5th round of the FA Cup vs a team of lower quality being Southampton, it will still be a tough game but if we play well, there’s nothing to stop us. After 30 league games have been played, I will come back to you then, and tell you what our chances are of qualifying then.’

Home to Sunderland 2-0
Hometosland.jpg

Good result, Home performances are a lot better than they were earlier in the season!

Home to Southampton, Fa Cup 5th round 3-1
Facup5th.jpg

Not the most convincing result but a wins a win and we are through to the 6th round!

Away to Wolves 0-0
AwaytoWolves.jpg

I was expecting a loss here due to losing to them at home, however it turned out different and I’m satisfied with our result.

Home to Bolton 1-3
HometoBolton.jpg

Very disappointed, Kalinic’s red card cost us the game really, nothing to say, could affect our chances of Europe, we’ll see.

Well this brings me to the end of February, Still we are completely achieving our goal and maybe over achieving. We still have an outside shot of Europe, if we do this, it’s certain this season is just a stepping stone of greater to come.

Leaguefeb-1.jpg

Also in the league as you can see above, we’ve still got a great chance of qualifying via top 7 in the league. We are also looking to finish as high as we can for prize money to help with our finances

Hope you enjoyed reading again :).
Thanks
Jack
