Newcastle 4

Tottenham 1
Lennon

What the???!!!! As a Spurs fan, I am usually able to handle what should be shocks, quite well. But after the way Ginola had been doing I have been caught off guard with this one. I seem to have lost that sense of awareness about me, that as a spurs fan, you should never be surprised by what comes round the corner. Usually though that doesn't involve playing better than the other team but being on the end of a thrashing. Usually we turn up with 11 players who have decided that" Tonight Mathew, I'm going to be, Paul McShane" But no, tonight we turned up raring to go, taking the majority of possession and chances. The only player who wasn't on his A game tonight had to be Gomes in goal. For some reason he seemed to be having flashbacks of the days When he first joined the club and everything seemed to be destined for the back of the net behind him.

Ginola: I have a lot of respect for Newcastle as a club, after all they first brought me to England. Tonight though, We deserved more out of the game and just didn't have our luck with us. The boys will bounce back, I will make sure of that.

Tottenham 2
Palacios, Lennon

Wigan 4
Boselli, Di Santo(3)

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse than the Newcastle game, we get hammered by a team that we beat 7-0 just over a month earlier. The game started off with us on the front foot in everyway. So when Palacios was brought down in the area and converted the resulting penalty, I allowed myself to relax into my seat. Then the turning point. Pletikosa had the ball in the area with no pressure on him whatsoever, so I have to ask myself how on earth he then decided to pass directly to Wigans Boselli, leaving him a free goal to roll the ball into. From there on in, Wigan had the right attitude and went at a shaky centre back partnership of Bassong and King. Di Santo who replaced Bosseli tormented the two for his part and deserved his hat-trick. Looks like we've finally found the real Spurs this season.

Ginola: I am disgusted by what has happened on the pitch today. I have made that clear to the players and if they have anything about themselves, they will put it up to Man United in the next game.

Tottenham 3
Kranjcar, Palacios, Lennon

Man United 3
Fletcher, Rooney(2)

This was another strange game this season. It was a gritty performance from us for once, not all the flair of past games. At the end of the game with a draw against United in the bag, the rough approach worked this afternoon. Of course that approach won't be used against teams of lesser quality though, and I still have worrys after the Newcastle and Wigan games.

Ginola: I am happy that we have this point to take from this game today but I am now looking to push on and see the lads get back on form with a few wins.

Summary of the month

Well this month certainly brought us down to earth with bang. It was a roller coaster month with losses to Wolves, Newcastle and Wigan. Yet we also had 3 good results this month with a big win over West Brom, another win in the Champions League and a draw against Man United thankfully interupting a run of two big losses.

Player of the Month

Wilson Palacios and Gareth Bale were the only two players considered for this award, being the only two players to maintain a good standard of play throughout the month. Palacios was chosen in the end. I imagine it was because bale had already won the award and Palacios had scored too goals at the end of the month.

I'm closing this story as i don't think I've started off as well as i can. i am going to start a new one with birmingham where it will be much more of a story kind of thing than review. I think the reason this one didn't go so well was because I was in october by the time i started writing and was focussed more on catching up than anything else. The next story will be much more together as I am going to start Straight away when i start the game.
