A SWARM OF BEES - Brentford FC.

A Swarm Of Bees - Chasing Talents (EP 25)
Deals, deals, deals.

After the successful campaign last year we were determined to be even better this season and attack more seriously the spots giving us European football. We have already packed squad and the arrivals before the last season's end made it hard to find place for all the players. The club wanted this strategy, however we may soon need an U23 team in the league and even win this league as our reserves are playing in some of the Europe best leagues.

A lot of Chinese teams again overflowed us with offers for our players, but this time were not for the players that we want to let go. We rejected some serious offers for Benrahma & Pontus Jonnsen. Both for around €25M.

At the end of the summer we were attacked from Premier League sides again for our best players, rejected €30M for Ollie Watkins and another €25M for Benrahma.

The Departures
Clearly we need to get rid off some players. The first ones that I wanted out of team were in fact my first signing back in the winter of my first season here as I didn't expect that the quality of the team to be this good. The club bright vision for the transfer policy is just one - SELL PLAYERS FOR MORE THAT HE IS BOUGHT.

Niclas Eliasson (AML) joined us for €2.8M from Bristol City and will leave the team for the exact same price with the 20% bonus from the next transfer in his career. The winger joins Independiente Santa Fe and won't be remembered with anything special in his stay with us playing 19 games and scoring 2 goals.

Sean Reggett (DC) is another player departing without leaving any mark in the team. Joined from Portsmouth for just €500k., now he leaves for Toronto FC for €1M. He made only 3 appearances for us and it's not needed by the club.

Adam Andersson (RB) actually was going to receive another chance with us after the failed last season, but Barnsley came up with a offer and with the funds we had, it was the right thing to do to go for another right back this season.. We wanted the same player as Mads Roerslev after we lost him, but although Andersson get a lot of chances - he never met the expectations. We get €1.4M which is with 400k more than the price we paid for him.

I really wanted the things to have worked out with Simon Tibbling (MC) but when Lille came with €6M offer for him I could not reject it. He had some good matches with us, however he only played in one half of the season and purely we made €4.2M profit from him (as he was bought for €1.8M). Nice to see him in a good team.

Our midfield was too packed and we needed to sell someone. Christian Norgaard (DM, MC) was that someone. €6.25M and he is now player of Genoa. He contributed enormously in our season in Championship, but last year he faded away from the starting XI, also was injured for a long time. Great servant, just his time came. (He was bought for €4.1)

Julian Jeanvier (DC) was another player that was in the team before my arrival and didn't have a single bad game under my coaching. Great player in both Championship and Premiership but he wanted more playing time that I could give him. We also had some troubles with him last season when he tried something like a riot against me in the lockerroom. Really good defender, even averaged 7.45 rating in our first season, scoring 3 goals. Sad to see him go but we have great depth at centre back so we won't notice his absence. €9.5M from Huddersfield (bought for only €2M).

We also continued the tradition of letting our young starlets on loan to get first team experience.

The most notable players that won't be around the team are Marcus Forss & Toni Moya at Maritimo, Francisco Sierralta at Kobenhavn, Hussayn Touati at AIK.

A lot of all these talents have great future and probably will have a chance in our team.

The Arrivals
Our budget for the upcoming season was something else - €50M. That is something else for a club that his best signing was €13M (Alexander Isak). However I really want to follow MY WAY in the transfers, don't buy pricey old players and develop young prospects by giving them first team football. We get another €27M from the players that we sold so we are fockin` rich at the moment.

We also have 3 players coming into the first team arranged earlier - Youssef Bennasser (€3.2M from Monaco), Jesus Vallejo (free from Real Madrid) and Andrew Gravillon (free from Inter).

So I searched only for deals that we NEED to do, to get more depth or to strengthen some area. And the end of the transfer window we might have more money than we originally had.

The right wingback is one of the places we need to improve. Although we found a good replacement in the face of Oskar Buur, we need another good player on that position. With the departure of Adam Andersson we again looked at our lovely Scandinavia for a quality option. FELIX BEIJMO (RB) is our choice. The Swedish international comes from Werder Bremen for the price of €4.2M.

Hopefully he can finally fill the gap left by Mads Roerslev, I was even thinking for bringing him back but Venlo already had bought him from the relegated Hertha.

Manchester City youngster Patrick Roberts (AMR) is the next guy we really wanted in our squad. Bringing him for €7.25M with the intentions for a lengthy career in our squad. After the weak period at the end of the season was important to boost our attacking options and the Englishman will look to revive his career after playing ....

I was looking at this transfer from the first day I came in Brentford FC.One of Croatia brightest talents finally is in our squad, after 2 failed attempts in the past (because of the high price demands). "The Balkan Messi" LOVRO MAJER (AMC) is coming from Dinamo Zagreb for €9.75M and will be key to our transformation into a 4-2-3-1 side.

He also can play at the CM position, can take our corners, score free kicks. He can do whatever he wants! Great player, expecting miracles from him!

Our final addition to the squad is the French wonderkid AMINE GOURI (ST) coming from Lyon for €8.5M. We needed to have another quality striker added to the team after last season goal drought for our front players. In fact if he performs well, quickly can guarantee a spot in the starting XI because of Isak poor form. Win - win situation for me, having 3 wonderful strikers battling for the spot of the main man upfront.

Alfa Semedo is back from his loan spell and again will play for the club.

Overall

At the end of the day we spent only €3M more than the sum of the player we sold, which is great. All the other money are free to be spent if we want (but we don't). We didn't even break the record for record signing and still have perfectly balanced squad to battle in the next season.

All of our younger players got their loan deals, playing somewhere that they can be every match in the starting eleven and develop. We will start gathering the fruit of our work from the winter or the next season when some of this players will have their chance in our first team. We don't have a youth intake - however we have the best youngsters!

Also our squad is very young - only Pontus Jonsson is older than 30, two players are 28 aand mainly the other players are around 23-25 years old which gives another dimension to the future of this football club.

Our preseason went really well both in the camp in the USA and in England where we faced lower tier clubs and Sheffield United in our final game before the start of the season. All of the players had nice start of the long season. Mbeumo and Guiri performed really well and scored 4 goals each. Andrew Gravillon also scored 4, a hattrick against Yeovil.

Jesus Vallejo missed almost all of the matches and it's behind with his physical condition, Jeong Woo is injured for two months, missed the pre-season and will miss August games for sure.

The schedule wasn't on our side again in the beginning of the new PL season.

Liverpool (A) - opening away match against the champions.
Brighton (H)
Leicester (A)
Millwall (A) - EFL Cup
Wolves (H)

A Swarm Of Bees - Fresh Start (EP 26)
Our second campaign in the PL begins.

Starting our second season in the Premier League with the hopes of reaching Europe at the end of the season, but yet again the odds are that we will struggle for survival. We are predicted to finish 17th. We also should guard ourselves against the so-called "dangerous" 2nd season in the top flight as many newly promoted teams do well in the first season, but then stumble in the second.

We won't be able to use Jeong Woo-Yeong & Jesus Vallejo in the first month as the first is injured and the second one returned from injury between our 1st and 2nd matches.

Liverpool vs. Brentford

It's always hard to start the league well, but our task was even harder going on a trip to "Anfield" against the current champions. Even though they sold Salah (to Barcelona) & Van Dijk (to PSG) they went to spend the whooping €386M this transfer window and their squad is tremendous. Great effort by the guys, we gave all that we had. Neres scored in just 15 minutes but we made it hard for the champs. In the 68' Raya once again stopped a penalty against this opponent (last August's 1-1 draw against them). To make things worse Alfa Semedo was sent off just a minute (and will miss next 3 games) after the penalty was saved (again in the draw 1-1 he made the penalty). Until the end we throw our bodies to defend our goal. The efforts were great, but we start the campaign with a loss.

After the game we receive bad news from our medicals - Shandon Baptiste will miss the rest of the month after a collision with an opponent in the match.

Brentford vs. Brighton

The first match at our home stadium for the season against the team that we last played last season. We are switching between 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 for the different matches. We dominated the game and were in front almost the whole time after brilliant goal by our new pearl Lovro Majer who also won POTM. Although we controlled the match in the end were nervous and we were pushed to the limit. Our brave defenders get the job done - clean sheet, a win and 3 points!

Rico Henry
got his place back in the starting line-up after he spent the last half of the season benched and returned with an assist.

Leicester vs. Brentford

It seems that Leicester poor form from last season is still hunting them, I don't know who, because they have such good players. We start on the highest gear and we are 1-0 up in the 1' thanks to Benrahma! After they get one back, we again started pushing and just after the half time Ollie Watkins grabbed his second goal for the game (POTM performance)! The match was very open and the goals could have been even more. Dasilva bangs one in the end, and our new boy Patrick Roberts gets 2 assist on his name. Rico Henry & Mathias Jensen get one each also.

As we had a packed midfield with the dismissal of Ben Pearson for absurd foul, now we have just a couple of available players in the midfield, gratefully next match is in EFL Cup.

Millwall vs. Brentford

This year I will try a little bit harder in the cups even though we changed 10 out of 11 players from the previous match. We faced the team that was bottom of Championship and gave debuts to all our new players. Millwall got the first goal, but we turned the things around really quickly. Young Dominic Thompson just refuses to let his spot at the left back as he scores one of his bangers! Two debut goals by Flynn Downes & Bennasser get us the win! Bennasser also got one assist and played perfectly to win the POTM award.

Bryan Mbeumo who got really good pre-season, but didn't perform well in the first PL matches got 2 assists.

The draw put us in good position as we are going to face Luton Town (which we beat last year 3-1 in the same tournament)

Brentford vs. Wolves

Phenomenal performance against really good side. I'm really proud that we kick our opponents teeth with the same players we did it in Championship! Ollie Watkins gave us the lead after beautiful pass from Chirivella! All of the players were great in this match and we didn't gave the opportunity to our enemy even to threaten us! Said Benrahma brace gave us the security in the end and the Algerian won POTM. It's vital that one of our new signings - Beijmo got his first assist.

Fun Fact: Tottenham just slapped the **** out of West Ham beating them 10-0. What's that with these results?

Player of the Month

OLLIE WATKINS
After the awful end of last season, Ollie Watkins comes back with a bang! Scored 3 goals and showed why he is still trusted to start upfront no matter his weak performances in the spring! He also is the first player to win Player of the Month award in all of our 3 seasons so far! Hopefully this time he won't sleep through the half of the season and will terrorize the defenders!

Said Benrahma also was perfect this month, scoring 3 goals and troubling the opposition defense. Rico Henry, Pattrick Roberts & Bryan Mbeumo each ends the month with two assists!

LEAGUE TABLE & VERDICT

Close to a perfect month we end the month we 4 wins (1 in EFL Cup) and only 1 defeat (to the current champions Liverpool). Really proud of the boys and the way that we play at the moment. It's important to maintain such form through the whole season and don't feel safe after a few good months. We're 7th, with a lot of good performing teams ahead of us, but this is only the beginning.

Chelsea, Liverpool & Manchester City are with perfect form in the right end of the table, Leicester & Bournemouth are without single point at the other.

Next month will be a tricky one with games against Chelsea, Arsenal, Sheffield United and the Cup match against Luton Town.

Thanks for reading once again & hope you enjoy it.

A Swarm Of Bees - Autumn of Hopes (EP 27)

We started the season really well in August and we lost only against the current champions from Mersyside. We beat 3 teams (Brighton, Leicester, Wolves), get 9 points and also get into the next phase of the EFL Cup. The spirit in the squad is high and everybody wants the team to continue with the great results. The boys want to achieve big things and are giving 100% every time they get a chance on the pitch!

Jeong Woo-Yeong will be available only in the end of the month and Shandon Baptiste is close to returning after the injury last month.

Chelsea vs. Brentford

After we eliminated them in the FA Cup two seasons ago, Chelsea have become our boogie team. We just can't cope with them (two 3-0 losses last season), now this. Also for me they have the best team currently in the PL. Pontus Jansson made it sure that we lose, first he made a penalty, then just 3 minutes after he lost the ball when was the last man before our goal, terrible performance. Isak get our hopes back after good pass from Beijmo, but that was everything that we offered. Sancho & Martinez buried us, slamming five goals in our net. We need to forget this result fast!

Chelsea & Manchester City continue to have 100% record after the first five games.

Brentford vs. Arsenal

WHAT A GAME!
Attacks from the start till the end! We get upfront two times by beautiful solo goals by Watkins & Roberts! Both times our players started their dribbling in our half, absolute amazing! The visitors also threaten our goal and Lacazette scores two long distance goals to even the game! Both teams doesn't stop with their attacking intents and the score is open, anyone can win it! Phenomenal pass by Patrick Roberts (POTM) is finished perfectly by Alexander Isak in the 87' to give our supporters adrenaline rush! Great win against one of our direct rivals!

Patrick Roberts
absolutely bossed the game!

Luton Town vs. Brentford

Again we gave the chance to our reserves to show me what they can and they provided the needed narrow win. Oskar Buur was brought down and Gouiri scored his first goal for the team! After the break our dominance continued and Ethan Pinnock grabbed one more goal and also the Player of the Match award! Until the end of the game we had a lot of other chances but their keeper had great day. Jeong Woo finally returned, Shandon Baptiste also played his first match after the injury!

Unfortunately after his great game Ethan Pinnock is injured for a month!

This time we get a home match in the next round but it will be against PL's Everton!

Brentford vs. Sheffield United

We played the Blades as our final opponent in the pre-season and won pretty easy, this time the match wasn't so easy. Patrick Roberts again dominated the game scored a goal after he stole the ball from one of the defenders and opened up the scoreline. Ollie Watkins continued his good form after an excellent cross from Oskar Buur! After the half time we seemed to forget that we should not loose focus, we slept through it and almost paid the price as our opponents pushed our team. Only the good performance by our defenders & goalkeeper saved the three points for us.

Really unlucky as Shandon Baptiste just returned from injury and now he is back in the medical center for another 3 weeks.

Player of the Month

PATRICK ROBERTS
The new signing Patrick Roberts just started his career at Brentford FC but had such a great month! The young winger got 2 goals, 1 assist and 2 POTM performances in the 2 matches that he played (he didn't make the squad against Chelsea). We were searching for such winger and as for now - we got him! Terrific performance!

Ollie Watkins continued his good form, Alexander Isak scored twice and our whole attack is looking sharper than ever!

LEAGUE TABLE & VERDICT

We climb the table by just one place to 6th, however this happens after really tough month (playing 2 of the top 6 teams). We continue to be very close to the desired place (CL, EL) and overall the month was success! We reach the 4th round of EFL Cup for the first time from the time I'm manager here. Our attack looks scary for all our opponents, but need to perform better against the top teams.

It's really close at the top, Manchester City are first, but it's still early for any team to get some gap at the top. It's really interesting that Leicester still don't have a single point, Wolves also struggling!

We have 5 matches next month - West Ham (A), Bournemouth (H), Man City (A), Blackburn (A) and the 4th round of the EFL Cup against Everton!

Thanks for reading once again & hope you enjoy it.

A Swarm Of Bees - Flying Through Clouds (EP 28)

Brentford FC continued his quest of searching for better position in the league. We are sitting in the 6th place after 7 games, also we are still in the EFL Cup. Some of our players are in great form as Ollie Watkins, Patrick Roberts, Said Benrahma and Alexander Isak are tearing opponents defenders.

The Bees have some minor troubles with injuries as Ethan Pinnock will miss the whole month and Shandon Baptiste will miss almost all of the games.

The first match see us facing one of the teams that we didn't manage to beat in our first season in PL.

West Ham vs. Brentford

Close game against local rival. After some misses by both teams we finally open up the score after the half time. The hero yet again (as in the win against Arsenal) is coming from the bench and his name is Alexander Isak! Another goal by the Swedish international and Player of the Match award after great pass by Josh Dasilva. In the final defending minutes of the game Chirivella is sent off. Great win against tough team to beat and another great performance by our defense.

After the dismissal of Chirivella, another bad news comes as he is diagnosed with fractured lower leg and will be out for 3 months, AWFUL NEWS as he is one of our vital players.

FUN FACT: After just 8 games of this season we are given 3 red cards - which is same as the amount of red cards we received in the PAST TWO SEASONS. Strange stuff.

Brentford vs. Bournemouth

Terrific performance by the whole team in another home victory for the Bees! Our attackers continue to impress as Said Benrahma got 2 goals (POTM), and Alexander Isak with 1. Our defenders also played great part in our win as didn't allow any chances in front of our goal. Also Jesus Vallejo & Felix Beijmo each gets one assists. The cherries get their consolation goal in the final minutes as we fail to get second straight clean sheet.

Thilo Kehrer
is injured for the next two weeks, so he won't play anymore in October.

After this will we broke into the
top 4 for the first time in our history!

Manchester United vs. Brentford

Unfortunately we lose heavily against the Red Devils, but the scoreline is nothing close to the actual game. They got one goal after a pin-ball situation in our own box after a corner and then the two goals by Bruno Fernandes are scored from free-kicks. Three set piece goals. We had our chances but were unable to materialize them. It's interesting that we don't lose a lot, but when we do it's with a lot of goals scored in our net.

Next up is the 4th round of the EFL Cup against Everton!

Brentford vs. Everton

Again we gave chances to the player that are not so involved in our team, however some of our most important played also because we want to advance and want to win. Clean sheet and good match for our defenders, but for second match in a row we could not score. Everton were the better team overall, but were denied access to our goal by Fruchtl! Everything will be decided by penalties!

Gouri - goal / Richarlison - goal
Bennasser - miss / Zobnin - goal
Perez - miss / Kean - goal
Gravillon - miss /

We are out of the competition after we loose on pens with only 1 scored, not mad about it, yet we could have advanced.

Blackburn vs. Brentford

F`N ridiculous! This is just one of THOSE matches. This match could have ended 0-5 at least, but we end up on the loosing side, don't know how, really. We hit the woodwork 4 (FOUR) times and 2 times our goals are overrulled by VAR. When we went down in the score - everything was clear to me, we will lose this game no matter what and I'm not mad at the players, most of them played really well in the match, just the luck was against us. Mathias Jensen even wins the POTM.

Player of the Month

ALEXANDER ISAK
Finally our Swedish star wins the Player of the Month award after Alexander Isak scored 2 goals in October and overall is performing really well from the beginning of the new season (scored 4 from the start)! I really hope that this season he will be key for our success. We will try to kick negotiations for a new contract with him as he has €33M release clause now and we want to get rid of it.

Said Benrahma again just misses the award by little after his is also close to perfect season for now! He also scored 2 goals in the month.

LEAGUE TABLE & VERDICT
Even after the ugly defeat in the last match we manage to get another step in the right direction and we finish the month in the 5th place! However the gap between us and the top 4 is starting to get bigger. We must try to hold our momentum and continue with the good performances and not end up in a swamp as last year and lose our spot in the final months.

The four teams at the top are really close to each other and it's still early to decide who is going to win it. At the other half of the table the newcomers Blackburn and Sheffield are in danger and Leicester are 11 games WITHOUT A POINT! What a season for them, finally fired Neil Lennon.

Next month will be very important for us because we have 4 matches - 3 of which are at home - Crystal Palace (H), Southampton (A), Watford (H), Tottenham (H).

Thanks for reading once again & hope you enjoy it.

A Swarm Of Bees - Small Steps (EP 29)

After 11 matches we are still on track with our goal - continental football as we are sitting in the 5th position! We finished last month with frustrating defeat to Blackburn and need to pick ourselves up and start winning again (we are scoreless in 3 matches). Although we didn't get the right results, we dominate our opponents and sooner rather than later the points will start coming again.

We are without Pedro Chirivella and will be for a long time. Also Thilo Kehrer will miss the most of the month and maybe won't play in it.

Brentford vs. Crystal Palace

Oh my, we didn't need another match like this! 3 of the last 4 goals that were scored against us comes after a direct free kick, come ooooon! 11 minutes after the start of the second half - another cold shower! Crystal Palace scored 2 goals out of 3 shots on target for the whole game and on the other end we missed everything that can be missed! We threw everything that we had in the end and attacked with 4 people! Said Benrahma provides another great pass to Ollie Watkins and we get glimpse of hope. In the final minute we have a free kick and just cross the ball, VAR comes to save us with a penalty decision in our favor. Lovro Majer puts the ball in the net and steals 1 point for us, even though we deserved more than that!

2 match in a row where we are the better team, but the luck is against us. We need to win these matches if we want the place in the top six!

We receive massive blow as 4 of our players are injured between this match and the next one. Lovro Majer is out for a month, Bryan Mbeumo & Oskar Buur will probably miss this month (November). Dominick Thompson is out for just 1 game, but this means 6 people in the medical center (not including the ones that are out for a day or two)

Pontus Jansson
will miss the next game as he reached 5 yellow cards for the season.

So, 7 people from the squad are out before the match against Southampton.

Southampton vs. Brentford

This time the match was pretty even as we meet the Saints for the first time. Mathias Jensen put a masterclass performance as he scored beautiful goal to give us the lead. The Danish midfielder also won Player of the Match. The home team answered quickly and then the match calmed down until the end where both team missed sitters to split the points. Because of the problems with the selection I'm not so disappointed with the result as I was with the last two matches (vs. Blackburn & Palace). We struggle for a third match away from home so this may become a problem soon.

Brentford vs. Watford

Luckily our next opponent are our favorite one, that we beat two times last year. We continue the tradition thanks to the goals by Ollie Watkins & Alexander Isak! Another great display by Mathias Jensen who stepped again in the shoes of the team leader. Totally domination for the Bees over the Hornets! Dominick Thompson returns with an assist! In the end our opponents scored great volley goal but they didn't have the ability for something more.

Finally a win after 4 matches in the league (one more in the cup)!

Brentford vs. Tottenham

Massive result against a top 4 team! After pretty even first half in which both team had their chances we needed a little push - and that push came again from the man in form - Ollie Watkins! Once again his great partnership with Said Benrahma showed the world what they can do as the Algerian eliminated a couple of defenders before giving the perfect pass to our goalscorer! We didn't stopped there as Benrahma did the exercise once again this time shooting from distance and young Amine Gouiri, tapped the rebound in the net! From this point forward Spurs tried attacking us, but failed. In the final minutes Max Aarons tried a cross, our keeper David Raya wasn't concentrated at all and failed to catch to ball, which went in our net, ugly thing. This gave our opponents new life and they pushed again, however Raya repaid for his earlier sin and saved the day!

Player of the Month

OLLIE WATKINS
Ollie Watkins scored his 8th goal for the season, which is the same number that he scored last year for the WHOLE season. It's end of November! He scored in 3 times of our 4 matches this month and once again proved that he is THE man in the team. No matter if he plays on the left wing or as a striker he is always big threat for opponents goalkeepers! Great performance!

Mathias Jensen was the other guy who was having a great November! 1 assist, 1 goal and leading the team for a great month once again! Never expected him to have so much effect on the squad!

LEAGUE TABLE & VERDICT

We had and undefeated month, which is always a good accomplishment! We dropped to 7th only thanks to our worse goal difference, however we are only 3 points away from the 3rd position which is great, we should not let the gap to get bigger! Although the month was a good one, it could have been ever better if we didn't lost 2 points against Palace & Southampton. A lot of injuries hit us hard and the next month we will continue without some of the players in the squad. We are performing really well, but let's not forget that we were predicted to finish 17th, we must fight against the odds!

Because of the good result we tend not to rotate the squad so much and maybe a couple of people will vow their concerns about it (Jeong Woo, Baptiste, Semedo). We are closing to the transfer window and we have more than €50M in the bank. I really want to keep the same strategy and don't pay big transfer sums, however I want that little push that will help us get us the position in the league that we want. I will look for somebody who can provide that little push and maybe, just maybe we will break our transfer record (€13M for Isak).

Manchester United are 5 points clear at the top after November chased by last year champions. Norwich is having great season and are only 3 points behind us. At the bottom Leicester finally got up and secured some points.

December will be key to our campaign, also was the month that our troubles started last year, hopefully we can miss that part this time. We have 5 matches - Man City (A), Norwich (H), Burnley (A), Everton (A), Man United (H).

Before that update we will take a look at the other team managed by me - Bulgaria and more specific about the World Cup 2022 Qualifications.

Thanks for reading once again & hope you enjoy it.

A Swarm Of Bees - World Cup 2022 Qualifications (EP 30)

Impossible is nothing!

We are looking back at the other team that I manage and where the things aren't bright as the season at Brentford FC and is really difficult to maneuver. After brilliant start of my Bulgaria career as we won our Nations League C, got promoted into League B and qualified for Euro 2020 for the first time in 16 years, things got ugly as we made our worst performance at the finals. After that we got relegated back into Nations League C after really unlucky campaign finishing with the same points as the team ahead of us and just 3 points behind the winner of the group.

After all we play good football and the nation is happy that we are competitive once again. We might not be winning and dominating over teams, however we found our game and can trouble every team in the world.

The qualifications for the strange winter World Cup 2022 put us in awful group for us. Also the rules state that only the first team in the group will reach the finals (and the best 3 teams finished in second place). Unfair to my view as Europe gets way too small amount of teams in the final compared to other continents. (South America has 10 teams, 5 qualify?). Of course teams from Africa & Asia should also get bigger numbers and maybe the forum needs some rebuilding getting more teams. Small nations almost has no chance of even qualifying.

Again we look way more to the young players in the nation, however it's still early and not many talents emerged through the last year. Slow and steady - this is our strategy. We try to introduce as many youngster to the first team and still be competitive and try to win games. Bulgaria will use 3 defender systems against the bigger teams and 4-3-2-1 against the weaker sides and when we trail in the score in the final minutes.

The group that are we are handled is giving us maybe 1% of qualifying for the World Cup as we will face - Spain, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Austria, Latvia & Moldova.

Last time the teams played at big forum:

Spain - Euro 2020 Quarter-final (3 times winner), World Cup 2018 round of 16 (1 time winner)
Bosnia & Herzegovina - never qualified in Euros, World Cup 2014 group stage.
Austria - Euro 2016 group stage, World Cup 1998 group stage (3rd place in 1954).
Bulgaria
- Euro 2020 group stage, World Cup 1998 group stage (4th place in 1994).
Latvia
- Euro 2004 group stage, never qualified for World Cup.
Moldova
- Never qualified for both Euros nor World Cup.

Even though Bosnia & Austria doesn't have so many achievements, both teams are young and hungry for wins with great talents in them. However we will be up for the challenge and try our best!

Bulgaria vs. Moldova

We start our campaign against the lowest ranked team in the group and everything looks like a nightmare as we are down 0-1 after just 18'. Until the end of the first half we had some chances but nothing more. We are out of this competition before even playing a couple of matches? However our players woke up in the second half and tuned my half time fury speech into 4 goals and demolishing Moldova. Stade Brestois's Strahil Popov made a performance to remember after blasting two great goals, making one assist and winning POTM! Young talent Stanislav Ivanov (playing at Middlesbrough on loan from Watford) got one more. In the final minutes of the game for the first time in 3 years (!!!) one of our strikers score a goal. (Last time this happened in 2019 in the last match for Euros Qualifications), oh my lord...

In other matches:
Austria - Bosnia & Herzegovina 1:2
Spain - Latvia 3:0

Bosnia & Herzegovina vs. Bulgaria

We deserved a lot more than that! Although we were down from the 9 minute of the game after a direct free kick goal, we had a lot of opportunities to equalize the score, but missed our chances. We pushed our opponents to their limit as the second half we were far more dangerous from them. However we fail to score, turned our attention just to the attack and Bosnia hit us hard with a counter attacking goal. 2-0.

Latvia - Austria 0:4
Moldova - Spain 0:1

So after the first March 2021 matches everything is going according to plan for Spain & Bosnia. Both teams with 6pts, Bulgaria and Austria with 3 pts., Moldova & Latvia without any.

Bulgaria vs. Latvia

We enter June fixture with a really laud bang! 3 goals in the first 13 minutes and the supporters are not believing their eyes! And two of these goals came from our striker Stanislav Kostov (playing in the local league in Levski) - MIRACLE! Again we are brought really fast to the ground as Latvia scores 2 goals inside 3 minutes and are back in the game! The away team even had a chance to make the result 3-3 but our keeper kept away the ball from the net. The Player Of the Match and biggest star in our team Kiril Despodov calmed down the burning fire with a nice solo goal and after just 31' the supporters saw 6 goals! The game really calms down as Latvia don't have the power for another push and our players playing safe.

Nice win, maybe this is the first time in history that we score 4 goals in second straight home win!

Moldova - Bosnia & Herzegovina 1:3
Spain - Austria 1:0

And next up is the really important match against Austria.

Austria vs. Bulgaria

The fans were pumped up that we can actually achieve something, but Das Team crushed our dreams. Again as the match with Bosnia we were trailing for the most of the match. In the final 20 minutes we changed our system and tried to attack a lot powerful than us team and simply got punished with pacey counter attacks that we could not defend. The match again was pretty even but our final push failed giving the home team 2 more goals in the end of the match so it look like they were the dominating team - not exactly like that. However the points are given for wins and we didn't win - so back to the mediocrity!

Bosnia & Herzegovina - Spain 2:4
Latvia - Moldova - 1:2

We knew this will be tough and our task is to finish above or equal to the expectations of 4th place! Everything more will be bonus and I'll be happy about it.

Moldova vs. Bulgaria

September started with away match against Moldova and we don't disappoint after 2 goals in the end of each half. I'm happy with finding good playmaker in the last year in the face of Antoni Ivanov (who plays in the Romanian League). Great all round player who is the most constant guy in our team - always giving his all for the team. He was one of the stars of the night - winning POTM. Georgi Milanov who replaced Kiril Despodov (injury) for September matches provided 2 assist and Stanislav Kostov scored his 4th goal in the campaign!

It's vital that we don't slip against weaker sides!

Bosnia & Herzegovina - Austria 0:0
Latvia - Spain 1:3

Bulgaria vs. Spain

Pure magic moment! We faced La Furia Roja which was destroying everything on his way to the World Cup. We parked the bus and give 110% of ourselves. Our keeper Plamen Iliev who returned as number one choice after great performances for the club team made 10 saves and logically won POTM. As the game was coming to an end I was pretty happy that we will win a point against such great team, but then Antoni Ivanov saw our left wingback Ivan Goranov running like wild and completely free on the wing, gave him a perfect pass and Goranov scored crazy volley goal in the top far corner! 40 000 mad man at the standings erupted like a volcano! AMAZING WIN FOR US!

Bosnia & Herzegovina - Latvia 3:0
Moldova - Austria 2:1

Great news came from Moldova which unexpectedly won against Austria. Small glimpse of hope was sneaking among the fans, can we make the miracle and finish 2nd and pray to be among the best 3 2nd placed teams.

After September 2021 the standing was - Spain 15 pts., Bosnia 13 pts., Bulgaria 12pts., Austria 7 pts., Moldova 6 pts., Latvia 0 pts.

Bulgaria vs. Bosnia & Herzegovina

We had a great opportunity at home to attack the second position in direct clash against Bosnia! Missed opportunity - this is the best words for the match. We had great opportunities to go ahead in the score but were wasted by our players. This time we were the better team through the whole of the match, however Bosnia got the point that they wanted by great defensive display. Defender Stefan Velkov (playing at Swedish Djurgardens) won POTM with some great work on the second floor and delivering the ball to the midfield. We beat the away team on every stat, but not on the most important one - goals.

It's vital that we don't slip against weaker sides!

Austria - Latvia 4:0
Spain - Moldova 4:0

Latvia vs. Bulgaria

Exactly the same score as the first game, this time the win didn't came so fast. Most of our players performed greatly and showed their quality. Right wingback Ivan Turitsov (playing at Kortrjik) scored his first international goal to give us the lead. Todor Nedelev & Stanislav Ivanov both added one more to their account to lead us to comfortable scoreline 0-3. Again as the first match we were troubled by two quick goals by Latvia to pressure us. Kristian Malinov with his trademark - long distance goal put the end of their hopes!

As our main man Kiril Despodov was still injured Georgi Milanov once again provided! 2 more assist and POTM award for him!

With this win we go on a 4 match unbeaten run!

Austria - Spain 0:1
Bosnia & Herzegovina - Moldova 3:1

October 2021 standings - Spain 21 pts., Bosnia 17 pts., Bulgaria 16pts., Austria 10 pts., Moldova 6 pts., Latvia 0 pts.

Okay, the thing that we can possibly secure qualification and we are still in the game with only 2 games left are giving us hope that we are in the right direction! Of course this will be magical because our next 2 games are against Spain & Austria, but just imagine what a results these can be!
Fans are dreaming once again and this is our win for this qualifications. Probably we won't achieve something but we are in the game, not accepting the mentality of a losers!

Spain vs. Bulgaria

The whole wrath of Spain fell on us! It's my mistake that I tried a little bit more attacking scheme against this mighty team, but never expected such beating. They had almost the same numbers of shots or target - 12 (10 in the first game), this time almost all of them went in. We could not did anything. Ansu Fati with a hattrick, they purely crushed our hopes. Young Tonislav Yordanov (playing at CSKA-Sofia) scored his first goal for the team and that was the only good news.

The scores from the other matches came - Bosnia have won against Latvia and we don't have chance for the second place no more.

Austria - Moldova 3:0
Latvia - Bosnia & Herzegovina 0:4

Bulgaria vs. Austria

After the results in the previous match we have nothing to play. The match against Austria was for the 3rd place in the group that gives nothing and I gave the chance of the players that are not selected so often to impress me, also the other guys were shattered after the match against Spain. We were better in the first half and scored superb goal by Nedelev (his 3rd for the campaign). In the second half our boys were lacking concentration and fell behind after two good goals by our opponents. Unlucky defeat, however I'm proud that even my reserves gave hard time to our opponents.

Moldova - Latvia 0:2
Spain - Bosnia & Herzegovina 5:1

FINAL STANDINGS

We finished where we were predicted to finish - 4th (only on goal difference).Even that we end the journey with 2 defeats I'm happy with the team, we achieved what we wanted for these qualifications. There were no illusion that we can qualify in this kind of group, we just want to give the fans some hope that we CAN beat big teams and can fight and be competitive! We achieved that!

It's some kind of relief that the 2nd team in our group didn't qualify and even if we had won against Spain & Austria in November we wouldn't qualify. Also it is important for me that we didn't have troubles with the lower ranked teams and beat them in all 4 matches. After this competition we moved up to 64th position in the World.

The players that made good impression in this campaign were - Stanislav Kostov - scoring 4 goals, Todor Nedelev - scoring 3 and assisting 1, Georgi Milanov - with 4 assists and 1 POTM and Antoni Ivanov - with 4 assist to his account.

Another hard to swallow pill for my Bulgaria adventure, but I'm used to it. We should look at the bright side of it and search for the positive, maybe next time it will be a lot better. Next stop for the national team - Nations League 2022 which will be held through the summer.

Thanks for reading once again & hope you enjoy it.

A Swarm Of Bees - Hunt Them Down (EP 31)

After the undefeated month Brentford is looking in great shape and we are ready to answer the challenge! We have some tough opposition and the schedule is pretty packed so we will need everybody to be on good level and show their quality. All the teams in top 7 (we're 7th) seems to move with identical pace, the teams change their position every matchday and looks like the battle for the top 4 will be severe! We will face 3 teams from the top six plus Norwich (which is one of our boogie teams) and Burnley.

We will miss Pedro Chirivella & Lovro Majer for this month. The first one is out from October and hopefully next month will finally come back. The Croatian can play in the final fixures of the month.

Manchester City vs. Brentford

Started the match really well and we open the score with beauty by Jensen, who curves the ball in the top corner, no chance for the goalkeeper. City answered pretty quickly with great solo effort from their new signing - Macias and the teams went for a break. And then all **** broke loose. After just a couple of minutes De Bruyne scores from absurd range, and just after that Dominic Thompson was sent off. Nightmare! In the 67' minute they got a penalty, but Raya once again shows what he is made of and saves it! We defend bravely but the 1 man advantage was too much to handle in the end and we receive two more goals, one of which is from ANOTHER penalty.

Terrible loss for our confidence, 2 penalties, 1 red card and performance to forget. Thompson will miss next 2 games.

Brentford vs. Norwich

After the heavy loss in the last match didn't expect us to answer like this when we went down in the score in the first half against the team that we always fail to perform against (1 draw with a goal in the final minute and 1 loss last season). It looked as the same story again, but we made brave changes in our final push and two of the subs combined to score the equalizing goal. Ayoze Perez to Mbeumo and 1-1! In the final minute of the game our captain saved the team once again in an important moment! Brilliant cross from the Player of the Match winner Mathias Jensen to Pontus and the Swedish magician puts in the goal to send the supporters in delirium!

Important win, mainly because we responded so well against the result against City.

Burnley vs Brentford

Second match in a row in which we steal the win in the final minute of the game! We dominate the whole game and the home team are trailing after just 22' after another great goal by Jensen! In the second half they get a goal which is quickly denied by another goal for us, Baptiste blasting cannon in the goal of Burnley! The match was going pretty smoothly for our team, but then suddenly David Raya gives the ball away with unsuccessful pass and Barnes scores out of nowhere! For our happiness this was not the final move in the game and we put the pressure on them, Isak was brought down by a defender and then he scored the penalty to give us the lead for a third time! In the last event in the match Rico Henry scored his first goal for the campaign after an assist from the POTM winner Shandon Baptiste!

Raya
makes second mistake (after the one vs Spurs), maybe we should give Fruchtl some starts outside the cup competition to remind the team nobody has a guaranteed place in the starting team.

Everton vs. Brentford

We meet the Toffees for a second time this season after they eliminated us in the EFL Cup, we didn't manage to beat the last season too so our record against them is awful - 2 draws (both 0-0) and one loss (0-1). It looks like all these matches against them are tactical clash between the managers and for the first time I emerge as the winner. Our defense performance was great, not leaving any spaces for the the opposition. Our captain Pontus Jannson was POTM after bullying all Everton players on the pitch and giving them no chance! As always the matches against them are without a lot of goals, but our Algerian sub Said Benrahma gave us the win in the final quarter of the game! First win against Everton comes on Boxing Day!

In the final game of the year we meet the same team that we met in the last year's final game - the league leaders Manchester United!

Brentford vs. Manchester United

We changed our approach to the game and surprised the Red Devils with different formation - 3-5-2 and it was a game changer! We took the control of the most important area of the field - the midfield as Lovro Majer was bossing there (Dasilva & Jensen also played great). As the clock was ticking away, United got frustrated with their lack of chances and forgot to defend and that was the perfect time to strike! The young Croatian Majer opened up their defense with 2 great assist to our attacking duo - Isak & Watkins both scoring counter attacking goals to shock the league leaders!

Superb final of the year and the fans can't wait to see what we will bring in the next one!

CONTINUING IN THE POST BELOW...

CONTINUING FROM THE POST ABOVE....

Player of the Month

MATHIAS JENSEN
In one of the most intense months for us once again our Danish midfielder Mathias Jensen was the best player in the team! For the two years and a half that I'm here he never disappointed us! Superb player!
This month he scored 2 goals, gave 1 assist and played main part in all of our wins! The bad news about that is that he is now target of Arsenal and it's almost time for the winter transfer window, we won't sell them for any price, however he may get upset, really hoping they won't go for it!

Pontus Jannson was another player that stood out from the rest as he scored the winning goal against Norwich and then won POTM against Everton!

LEAGUE TABLE & VERDICT
Another almost perfect month, excluding the ugly defeat against Manchester City. The things are starting to look really frustrating as all the teams in the top six are just not letting it go! We are up just 1 position to 6th from the last month even though we won 4 matches! We are on just 4 points from the second place, but still we are not in the top 4! We are performing really well, but we are not there yet. I'm ****** that all teams are having a great season too.

Our attack again is on fire as all of our players continue to impress - Watkins (9 goals), Isak (7 goals), Benrahma (6 goals). Watkins is the third league goalscorer.

Manchester United are first, but all 5 teams behind them can reach them with just a couple of bad results. Arsenal & Everton are just around the corner and also are hoping for a top 4 finish. This time I don't see how Leicester will pull this off, they and Blackburn are going down almost for sure. The battle will be for the last relegation place.

The transfer window is close and in order to get some players we need to free some space. Our team performs really well so I don't think we need major changes, just a couple of the right players! I don't think we need to sell anybody also except some of the younger players which are in the second team and their contracts are expiring.

Next month we have 6 matches, but all of them are looking as winnable. We need to push so we end up in a better position, also we are injury free except Pedro Chirivella who I expect will return in mid-January.

So next month we will meet: Huddersfield (FA Cup A), West Ham (H), Sheffield United (A), Bournemouth (A), Everton (H) & Brighton (A).

Thanks for reading once again & hope you enjoy it.

A Swarm Of Bees - Winter Business (EP 32)

We start the year in a pumped up mood after the great win against league leaders Manchester United with 2-0 and the 6th position in table we are comfortably sitting at. Again is the time for negotiating, transfers and trying to find the perfect players for our beloved team.

Our team is performing really well so we don't need to bring a lot of new faces, also we don't need to sell anybody if their asked price is not met. We still have €50M+ in the bank, but I've put some rules for myself, I don't need to spend big to achieve my goals. I must spend wise! So maybe most of these money will be there in the club in the end of the season. Of course if we want to bring new players we will need to free some space in the team, because of all the restrictions with the registration.

IMPORTANT NEWS!

LET THEM PLAY

Aaaand that was the first thing that we did in the beginning of January by sending some players on loan.

Flynn Downes
was sent to Genoa
to gain first team experience in a big league such as Seria A. He did well in the year that he is with us, but yet he doesn't get enough time in the team.

Jeong Woo will play the rest of the season at Tenerife in La Liga. He got a lot more chances than Flynn but he's not consistent and we can fully rely on him. Also in his position (AML) we've got Ollie Watkins he is not letting him near the starting squad.

The rest of the players are still not good enough for the first team and need to develop.

SELLING THE DEAD WOOD

Brentford FC also sold some of the younger players which contracts are soon to expire. They lack the quality to stay at the Community Stadium and we took whatever the clubs offers without hesitating too much. Almost €1M.

Unfortunately one of our first signings Tony Moya will leave the club after not playing a single game. He turned down our last offer for extension because he was ****** that he is send again on a loan even though he made big impression at his spell at Rayo Vallecano this year and I wanted to give him chance. We won't get anything because he will be our of contract and will join AC Milan.

The Chinese teams
again went after our captain Pontus Jannson offering between €15M - €20M but he is not for selling! He is still 30 and could have another 2-3 great years with the club, turning him into a legend!

Ajax were offering up to €25M for the Algerian winger Said Benrahma, but again we won't sell our players so cheap. If they want a deal they must double their offer. Also he is having one **** of a season, don't want to destroy the squad with a decision like this.

HIVE UPGRADE

Great news as our stadium reconstructions is ready and we will finally have even bigger support in our home matches. With the extension the Brentford Community Stadium will have the capacity of 25 000 seated fans! Let the upgraded beehive buzz like never before!

NEWEST BEE

Our first addition to the squad is EBERE EZE (AML)! That was the main reason why we sent our Korean winger Jeong Woo to Tenerife. As QPR got relegated last year, they tried to hung onto Eze, but he wanted to play at better club. He started boycotting the team, didn't have the desire to play and was nowhere near his best days in which he got QPR promoted. The club saw their defeat and with only 6 months until his contract expiration they decided to sell. A lot of clubs offer him a spot, but he recognized our project as the best one and he is our player for just €5.75M!

Our first match of the season is in the FA Cup!

Huddersfield vs. Brentford

In the first game in the FA Cup we meet Huddersfield. Again we offer a chance to the players to impress. And they DO! We demolish the Championship team with almost no effort. Amine Gouiri scores his first hattrick for the team and was having the perfect afternoon! Obviously he won POTM too. Mbeumo & Perez each added one more goal to finish the opposition. Our wingbacks again were on top of their game giving 3 assists (2 by Thompson, 1 by Oskar Buur).

We are in the 4th round and our opponent will be Derby County, another Championship side.

ONE FOR THE FUTURE!

After we understood the situation with Tony Moya and his departure, we need some young kid with bright future at the midfield. VITOR FERRIRA - VITINHA (MC) will be part of our team from the summer. He is bough now, but will play the rest of the season on loan. The kid looks great and we will learn our lesson - he will get his chance at the club. He comes for €3.6M from FC Porto!

After this transfer our business was done!
We were happy with the current squad and didn't think we need something else from the market. However we were wrong!

CONTRACT EXTENSIONS

Another important news came as we secured contract extensions with some of our players. The most important one - Alexander Isak, giving him bigger salary but removing the €33M release clause! Also we extended the contract of Ethan Pinnock for another 2 years to 2024.

Ben Pearson was transfer listed by request as he is demanding more playing time, although I think he gets enough, so we will see.

CONTINUING ON THE POST BELOW...

CONTINUING FROM THE POST ABOVE...

Brentford vs. Derby County

Again - absolutely no chance for our opposition. Brace by Benrahma gave us big advantage in the first half. The Algerian also won POTM. Great display by all the players, most of them again were not our first choice in the league. In the end of the match Mbeumo scored one more to make the result 3-0 and end the hopes of the away team. We will play in the Fifth Round for a second time in my 3 year seasons.

The draw is ridiculous as we will face Everton once again this year (the eliminated us in the EFL Cup, then we beat them in December and also have a match against them in the league in January...)

We thought that we are done for the month and were happy about it! A COUPLE OF DAYS OFF!

Aaaaand then the final day of the transfer window came....

LAST DAY SCRAMBLE

Udinese surprised everybody at the club when they entered negotiations for Ayoze Perez, but I was shocked when we received the offer. €18M! We got him last year for just half these money. Udinese were relegated in the first season, then immediately bounced back and now are bottom of Seria A. I was not expect him to leave us, he was not having a good season, not performing when given opportunity. He came with big hopes from me to lead our club but he can barely get into the starting squad, playing almost every one of his matches from the bench. He ends up with 28 aps, 2 goals & 3 assists. Poor for our standarts! But we made big profit from him, that's important and we need to act quickly now!

BREAKING RECORDS

We started searching for a replacement and what a diamond we stumbled upon! AMINE HARIT (AMC/AML) handed a transfer request to leave Shalke in the same day! Isn't that coincidence! Harit wanted to move out from Shalke, who were fighting against relegation this season. We splash our transfer record and sign the Moroccan for €14.25M! He is one of the brightest talents in the Bundesliga so we hope that we made the right choice! Only the time will tell, but I'm really pumped up for this guy and expecting miracles from him!

And that was it, buuut not! With 6 hours from the deadline we receive stunning offer from Sheffield United for our goalkeeper David Raya - €20.5M. That's a lot of money for a goalie, he made some mistakes in the last month, and although he was brilliant servant for the past 2 years - we accept the offer and start searching for a good replacement.

FINALLY A CHANCE

DEAN HENDERSON (GK) is our new keeper! After his brilliant spell at Sheffield, he got back and Manchester United with hopes of taking De Gea's place, but it didn't turned that way. For the past 2 season Dean hasn't played a single game, his contract was expiring so there was no better time to move for him. We get the Englishman for just €4.6M! Exceptional!

1 hour before the deadline we get another shocking news - Raya turned down the contract from relegation favorites Sheffield United and will stay with us. Now we have 3 great keepers - Raya, Henderson, Fruchtl. The question is how to keep them all happy?

So we basically sold Ayoze Perez for the same price we get Harit & Henderson (a little less), and bought Eze for another €5M. WOW! Again for me the transfer window is a WIN, but this we will see at the end of the season or ahead in the future.

The next episode will include our league games in January 2022!

Thanks for reading once again & hope you enjoy it.

A Swarm Of Bees - Unleashing The Swarm (EP33)

We start the year at the 6th place after a great win over league leaders Manchester United, just one point from top 4 and 9 points from the 1st spot! As presented in the last episode our first match for 2022 was FA Cup tie against Huddersfield which we won easily 5-0. Also we got Ebere Eze from QPR only in the 2nd day of the window so he is available for selection in all our matches. We have excellent chance to maintain in our position because of the fixures we have or even fight for something more!

The other new signings plus the next round for the FA Cup were the last events of January so we won't see them in action in this episode.

We will miss only Pedro Chirivella in the first matches, but he will return finally in the second part of the month.

Brentford vs. West Ham

As in the first match against them, it was very close up until the very end. We get quickly upfront with goals by Majer and Ollie Watkins, but the boys thought that we have already won and we started the second half really slow. Our local rivals scored one and that wake us up so we didn't loose the initiative. In the final minutes Watkins banged one more after an assist from Gouiri, sealing his Player of the Match award. Amine himself scored with the last kick of the game to continue his good form. Thompson, Benrahma & Baptiste each with one assist for the nice victory over the Hammers.

Sheffield United vs. Brentford

After the brilliant games since the beginning (4 goals in 2 matches) we gave Gouiri one of his rare starts in the Premier League but it didn't turn well. Sheffield played really well in the first half and in the end of it scored great goal, we were down. And then Alexander Isak entered the field! Hattrick in the space of 29 minutes turns the whole game upside down! Absolutely phenomenal (POTM)! Our wingbacks again provided the needed passes as Thompson gets 2 assists, Beijmo - 1. The home team was crushed and in the final minutes received one more goal scored by Patrick Roberts after good pass by inform Shandon Baptiste!

We are flying through January with 3 wins in 3 matches so far.

Bournemouth vs Brentford

We meet another team fighting against relegation and again they were giving everything they have to get the points. The cherries didn't have so many chances to score, but used the set pieces perfectly, scoring twice from corner kicks. It was nice that we answered pretty quickly on both occasions with Ollie Watkins scoring 2 more and winning POTM! In the final minutes we tried to push them but there was too little time and they get away with an important point. Isak & Mbeumo assisted for the two goals, but didn't have enough luck infront of the goal.

Pedro Chirivella finally returned to the pitch after the injury in the first days of September.

Brentford vs. Everton

Another meeting with Everton and we were ready for another dull strategic match. (4 matches against them, 2 goals for both clubs in those...). Alexander Isak didn't think that way though. 2 goals by him in the first half and we were happy to finish the first half with 2 goals lead, but their winger scored beautiful solo goal in the last minute of the half. The second half was the same old story with not many chances for both teams, a lot of fouls and many unsuccessful passes. We were defending well and in the 85' Ebere Eze started great counter attack having his first assist to Isak who scored for his second hattrick in this month! No doubt he won POTM again! After the goal Everton were distracted and let another one - this time scored by our captain Pontus Jansson!

I start to hate Everton for just playing them too many times. In just one month we will meet again, for the 4th time this season, this time in the FA Cup. They also are lurking outside the top 6 but close enough to make trouble so this win was vital!

Brighton vs. Brentford

Brentford FC finished the month with a perfect team performance! We got used to playing teams that are in danger of loosing their PL status so we knew how to defeat the Seagulls! After just 24' we were 2 goals closer to the win as Mathias Jensen took the things in his hands (feet), first scoring one of his beauties and then assisting Thilo Kehrer for the second goal. The danish midfielder won the Player of the Match performance even though all of the players were brilliant. In the end Gouiri finished his best month for us with another goal. (he finishes the month with 5). Baptiste with another assist to his name.

Player of the Month

ALEXANDER ISAK
No doubt that the Swedish striker was our best player for the month. Alexander Isak scored 2 hattricks (6 goals), added 1 assist and won POTM twice! Tremendous performance and I'm very happy with the player that he is turning into! Massive boost to his confidence, also we gave him new contract, scrapping the €33M clause so if the big sharks want him they will have to pay good for him! He is now joint third best goalscorer in the league with his 13 goals so far!

Amine Gouiri also had impressive month - scoring 5 and assisting 1, Dominick Thompson & Shandon Baptiste contributed enormously both with 3 assist through the month.

Jensen & Watkins continue with their superb form from the start of the season! They are the most important players from the first day I got this job and 2,5 years later - they still lead the team to glory!

LEAGUE TABLE & VERDICT
Without a doubt our BEST MONTH since we were promoted to the Premier League! 4 wins & 1 draw in the league and 2 more wins in FA Cup! We are flying! I'm so happy with the team! We ended our first season last year with 53 points total, now we have 54 pts, February is just starting and we are in the top 4, BABY! Massive upgrade, so no matter where we finish - we are better than last year - that's enough for me! We tend to score late in the game, which is fine by me, my nerves will survive probably.

Watkins (13 goals) & Isak (13 goals) are joint 3rd goalscorer in the league only after Greenwood (19) & Lautaro Martinez (17) .

There is one thing that I fear - top 6 teams move in package, there is just 7 points difference between 1st & 6th position. We could suffer a lot from this in the end of the season if we have a crisis and this is the thing that bothers me a lot.

The title chase is open and as the things look will be open to the final days probably. Manchester United still lead the race, however Liverpool, Chelsea & BRENTFORD are very close! We are in the title picture, holy fck. City & Tottenham are also 1 wrong result away so it will be really interesting how the things will come out. In the other end Leicester (which had great team which we are gonna attack for new players) are 90% going down alongside Blackburn. Sheffield still have some little chance but I think they won't be able to pull it off.

From the next month we will be able to use our most expensive signing - Amine Harit. Also Eze will play a lot more, Chirivella is back from injury and we don't any injured player! The situation with the goalkeepers is difficult, maybe Henderson will get 1-2 starts.

Because we have only 3 games in February & 4 in March I will cover them in one episode. A lot of tough fixures will decide our fate: Liverpool (H), Burnley (H), Norwich (A), Everton (H - FA Cup), Manchester City (H), Tottenham (A), Southampton (H).

Thanks for reading once again & hope you enjoy it.

A Swarm Of Bees - Same Old Story (EP 34)

Brentford are surprising everyone with their performance as the end of January, we are in top 4 with 54 points and just 5 points behind the league leaders. Of course we are chased severely by Manchester City & Tottenham which are just a couple of points away. Big tests for us in the upcoming months as we face 3 teams from the top 6 and also play Everton in the FA Cup fifth round!

For the first time we have a clean bill and everybody are available, we have small problem with Ben Pearson who wants more playing time and I think he is getting enough.

In this episode we will take a look at both February & March.

Brentford vs. Liverpool

For the second time this season we lose against the current PL champions with that result. I'm devastated because they got their goal from OUR corner kick, quick counter and Rice puts in our net. We had a lot of decent chances but again we were playing against the champions and that was a tough task. Their defense was brilliant and we didn't manage to equal the score. The reds were okay with the 1-0 lead so they let us dictate the game. Sadly, a loss that made the beginning of a mini-crisis in the team.

Bad news came right after the match as two of our players are injured for more than a month - Josh Dasilva & Amine Gouiri (who was in a great form). Huge blow for our ambitions.

Brentford vs. Burnley

We tend to respond well after a loss from a bigger club and we do it again. Lovro Majer scores beautiful free kick to open up the scoreline and played great through the whole game winning POTM. Even though we dominate the game and have the better opportunities Burnley fights back as they miss 100% opportunity. In the second half we even push them more, however as sometimes in football the least logical thing happened after the score with their first and only shot in the second half and there are just 25' until the end of the match. We have our savior in the face of Bryan Mbeumo who comes from the bench. Superb goal made by his partner in crime - Benrahma and finished by the least used part from BMW.

Really important win because in the next 3 matches in the league we will play against direct enemies for the top 6 places.

Norwich vs Brentford

Playing against our dark horse which are also overperforming and are in the 7th place. They made really good squad that is ready for something more than mid-table finish. Dull match with not many opportunities ends up without any goals. Both defenses were excellent stopping the oppositions attack. Unfortunately we didn't win and Said Benrahma was added to the injury list and he will miss more than a month out from the pitch. 3 of our top players are not available, things start to look like our last season poor from at the end.

Next we play for the 4th time this season against Everton, two wins for us in the league, they got the penalty win in the EFL Cup.

Brentford vs. Everton

Yet again we give opportunity for the players not so involved in the league matches to impress, also it was debut for our new keeper - Dean Henderson. He didn't play for more than a year in a competitive match and we see that as he makes huge mistake from one of their crosses and let Richarlison to score. I don't judge him, know that he is great keeper. The away team plays better as they have their full power on the pitch. However we have our chances and we keep the distance to just one goal. After we made a couple of changes we equaled the score after another goal by Alexander Isak. However it's written in the stars that Everton will eliminate us from all cups this season as Tom Davies scores insane goal to put them back infront. We tried everything to equal again but opened up too many spaces at the back and in the end we receive another goal.

I don't mind winning two matches against them in the league, loosing 2 for the cups. We could have achieved more but I preferred to go with a weak squad as we were playing Manchester City & Tottenham in our next 2 games, rivals for the top 4 spot. Before this round we were 5th just a point behind Manchester City.

Brentford vs. Manchester City

******* hate these kid of stuff. 3 crosses from Kevin De Bruyne free kick's - 3 goals, the ugliest thing is that the smallest players scored 3 headers. Of course the Citizens were the better team, playing more with the ball and have more opportunities but we had our chances. I was ****** at this result. We start to fall in the positions and the next match against Tottenham will be vital for our hopes. We fail to win for the third straight time and this starts to look like a crisis more and more.

Meanwhile guess who won the EFL Cup for third straight year - Chelsea smashing Manchester City 3-0 at Wembley. Dominant blues.

Tottenham vs. Brentford

Things got worse after we take a beating from Spurs and we fall even further in the table. This time I can't say anything as we are totally outplayed by them. Pedro Chirivella is not in his best form from his returning and made terrible tackle, they got the lead by penalty and play without pressure from this point forward. In the middle of the second half they got their second goal and we are powerless, had just a couple of nice opportunities but again we are unable to score. Poor result and the poor form continue, we need to win a football match somehow to boost our confidence and gain our position better in the league.

Brentford vs. Southampton

The match starts really well as we score in 3' as Felix Beijmo makes beautiful run through the defenders and surprised the Saints. They got the goal back after again we receive a set piece goal. However we end the half ahead in the result after Ollie Watkins bangs his 14th goal of the campaign! Until the end they had a couple of chances but our defense was perfect, not letting spaces for their forwards. Our Swedish right back Beijmo gets the POTM and we win this important game to stay in the picture.

However the damage is done and we are trailing instead of running ahead.

More bad news as the POTM Felix Bijmo is ALSO injured. We had no injuries, now we have 4 of the main players in the medical center.

Player of the Month

LOVRO MAJER
It's hard to decide who should win this award after two bad months. However the young Croatian performed really well when he was on the pitch. Although he ends these 7 matches with just 1 goal, 1 assist & 1 POTM - he played in just half of them. Majer is showing his great potential. No doubt that we will have a great playmaker in his face.

Felix Beijmo was the other player that stood out from the rest as he occupied the right back position and doesn't give Oskar Buur a lot of appearances.

LEAGUE TABLE & VERDICT

After great January for our team we went on the slide and after just two wins in February & March we are on the bottom of top 6 (which if we exclude our position in January is still great achievement). We lost against 3 of the 5 direct opponents in these months (Liverpool, Manchester City & Tottenham) and now we are not in the best position to attack CL football. 4 points behind 4th but with 1 more game. I though that something like this can happen and we can fall in position, but it's important to shift to next gear and take the points from the next matches. Arsenal & Norwich can really put pressure on us if they get their matches.

All teams in the top half are performing too well and the ones in the bottom are terrible. We finished last year with 53 points and were 9th, now 7 matches before the end the 9th team already has these 52 points. So basically we are better, but all teams are also performing better than last year.

With winning their third straight EFL Cup Chelsea had also perfect two months gaining 5 wins and now are in the lead with 2 games in hand, incredible, as I said the best team for me right now with a mile in PL. At the bottom this time I'm sure that nobody can escape from this. Two of the teams that got up are going back down (Sheffield & Blackburn) and Leicester. I'll look to steal some players from them if I have the opportunity for a reasonable price of course.

We are without Amine Gouiri, Josh Dasilva & Said Benrahma this month but all of them will recover at some point next month, so the only player for now that will miss the whole month will be Felix Beijmo.

Next month we have to return in the right path and we have perfect opportunity for that as we face: Watford (A), Blackburn (H), Crystal Palace (A), Wolves (A).

Thanks for reading once again & hope you enjoy it.

A Swarm Of Bees - Losing Ground (EP 35)

After two really bad months we are still in the top six, however the distance to top 4 is growing and Arsenal & Norwich are close to us so we need to improve drastically in April. As in the last season - our Spring form is awful, we don't pick up the wins against the weak teams and also loose the direct matches. The new signings in the face of Harit & Eze are not impacting the club as I wanted, however they show some good signs. We are out from FA Cup so our attention is only to the PL and securing European football which will be DREAM for all bee's fans!

We will miss only Felix Beijmo for the month after all other players recovered. Oskar Buur will get his chance at right back.

Brentford FC is playing only teams below us so we need to win these games and try to push Manchester City for the 4th place.

Watford vs. Brentford

Playing against the side that we have most wins in the Premier League didn't help us.
We were the better team in the match, but failed to score, also the hosts were confident that they can brake the curse of loosing every time they face us. Even in the final minutes of the game - we were the team that needed to defend to secure the 1 point. Dominck Thompson (POTM) & co. retained their concentration and gave us the draw. I was pretty unhappy because I saw this month as opportunity to catch up with the teams above us and we failed at the first attempt.

Manchester City won their game, so the dream of CL football is getting unreachable.

Brentford vs. Blackburn

I take the blame for this one. Even though we were not in the best of form recently I thought that even weaker starting XI will be enough to take this match but I was wrong. After just 24' we were two goals down to already relegated Blackburn! Flashbacks from the first match in the season against them didn't gave me choice and we made 3 changes at half time. One of them was Alexander Isak who was injured. The boys just destroyed the away team in the second half but we only manage to score 2 goals - penalty by Majer (Rico Henry was brought down) and in the final minutes Amine Gouiri once again was the substitute savior to give us the point after great pass by Jensen. We missed 3-4 clear chances to beat the opposition and with Manchester City winning once again, the CL dream is over.

Awful news from the club doctor as Alexander Isak will miss the rest of the season because of the injury. He is scoreless in the league from January, however big blow for our team.

Crystal Palace vs Brentford

Easily worst performance of the year.
Even though the scoreline doesn't represent the game fairly enough, we were TERRIBLE! All of the players! Just Baptiste was okay, not only for scoring but for trying to do something. Palace got like 6 shots - 4 of them went in, but that doesn't matter, we didn't provide adequate fight and the lads understood how I felt after the match. We took such a beating from a team that is a few points above the relegation zone. Dom Thompson with an assist.

We went on discussing for a long time our recent form and I told them nothing more than the truth - we have 4 matches left - if we play like this - we will be out of Europe and probably will finish at worse position than the last year.

I can't believe that this is happening at exact same moment as last year, we didn't learn the lesson. Something has to change NOW!

Wolves vs. Brentford

The boys heard me and responded immediately! We had tough away match against Wolves however our team were in high spirits after the team talk and didn't gave them a chance! Said Benrahma returned to play with a beautiful assist to Ollie Watkins' 15th goal! After the break our defense were great providing the needed security at the back. With one of his traditional runs, Thompson (POTM) received a ball from Josh Dasilva (who also returned for this match) and scored a thunder in the far corner. Superb performance to end this disappointing month!

Player of the Month

DOMINICK THOMPSON

One of the best left backs in the league even though most of us didn't know his name 3 years ago! Dom Thompson got 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 POTM and 2 clean sheets this month! The young lad is one of the hidden gems in the team as his colleague Rico Henry lives in his shadow although he was one of the best players in Championship. Really happy about him providing constant threats with his crosses!

LEAGUE TABLE & VERDICT

We didn't have the best month, however our rivals for the top 6 spot also were not at their best and we should be thankful for that. We move up to 5th. With the end of April our dreams of CL football are gone as the top 4 is just outperforming us. Now we have to battle for EL place and finishing 5th will be massive achievement. There are 3 matches left which are going to decide our future and all of them are tricky! Tottenham on the other hand have 2 matches in hand but they are against Liverpool & Chelsea. It will be interesting end of the season. Norwich also should not be excluded from the picture.

Mixed emotions as we are playing great, having some absolute unbelievable results trough the year and still there is a chance that we even miss the Europe spots.

At the top is now clear - Chelsea probably will win the league if something really special doesn't happen and United steal their trophy in the final 3 games. The battle for the 5th-7th place is the most exciting thing now in the league. At the bottom everything is clear (it was the same all year).

Alexander Isak will miss all 3 matches until the end and finishes the campaign with 13 goal in the league, 1 assist & 1 goal in the FA cup, far better than last year.

Our final 3 matches are tricky as ****: Leicester (H), Arsenal (A), Chelsea (H)

Thanks for reading once again & hope you enjoy it.

Loving the story! Keep it going. Great pieces of transfer business.

A Swarm Of Bees - A Path To Glory (EP 36)

Even though our Spring form is a lot worse than the one in the start of the season and we got some bad results we're at the 5th place just 3 matches before the end of the campaign. Tottenham are just behind us and have 2 matches in hand but still we have the chance to end up with a continental football next season if we continue our good display from the last match of April against Wolves.

We are going to be without one of our biggest stars Alexander Isak who is injured. Just before the start of the month our biggest transfer - Amine Harit also got injured and will miss the rest of the matches.

The program is tricky as we have the dead last Leicester at home for an easy opening match, but then we play direct rivals Arsenal away and in the final round we will meet the most likely champion of England.

Brentford vs. Leicester

Must win match and we beat them easily! I don't know how but the Foxes are unbelievable ****** for the past two season even though they got some really nice signings (Cristante, Poulsen, Szoboszlai). They escaped last year, but now are dead last. We start the match perfectly as Lovro Majer scores again from free kick to continue his good form (one of the few people playing great in the Spring) and then Ollie Watkins bangs two more to finish the opposition and win the Player of the Match award! Our striker is absolute beast scoring his 17th goal of the season. Also he scored most of these goals from the wing, top striker!

After the match we receive another bad news as Bryan Mbeumo torn a muscle and will miss 2 month! After we got promoted Mbeumo is almost constantly injured or having troubles finding his form, really unfortunately for the part of the BMW trio.

Superb news from the other stadiums as all Tottenham, Arsenal & Norwich lost their matches. A few days later Tottenham lost and one of the extra games that they've got. That means we CAN'T be passed by Arsenal which are 8 points behind us now! So we either end 5th or 6th and the match with Arsenal will be almost without any importance.

Arsenal vs Brentford

The boys didn't gave the best performance after clinching European football, while Arsenal was still fighting for that 7th spot. They gave us hard time from the start of the game and beat us fair and square. We had almost no chances up until the very end. They scored in the middle of both halves to get the win. However I wanted to finish 5th so we make a statement for the future!

Tottenham also fought well and won his game, then a couple of days later won his game in hand and thus we were sixth, two points behind Spurs before the final game.

Meanwhile Chelsea won the league which meant that we are going to close the Premier League season with a home match against the new champions! Tottenham will play away at Turf Moore against Burnely.

Brentford vs. Chelsea

Tremendous! Ending the campaign in style with win over the champions! We surprised the away team with playing with 3 at the back and the first half was not very entertaining, our defenders making great job of making their attackers useless. However the second half didn't start good as Lautaro scored to give them the lead (5th goal in 4 app. against us...) In the middle of the second half after a bad challenge from Rico Henry - they get a penalty, Lautaro steps up and I was sure that this will be the end of our dreams for the 5th place, but RAYA SAVES IT! (He saves almost every penalty, wow) and after that the football gods turned the things upside down. Our ball winning midfielder Alfa Semedo scores his first ever goal for the club and wins POTM after just not giving chance to opponents creative players to do something and in the final minutes with one of our few chances Gouiri heads up the ball to Lovro Majer who bangs it home for the comeback! WHAT A WIN TO END THE SEASON!

The final whistle blows and we receive the information that Burnley have made a comeback against Tottenham so we are finishing at 5th place!!!

Player of the Month

LOVRO MAJER

Winning the award twice in the space of 3 months! He had great second part of the season establishing himself as one of our most important players. Also Majer is one of the fan favorites as his shirt is the best selling one among the supporters! He finishes the month with 2 goals and 1 POTM, also his goal against Leicester this month was chosen for our best goal for the campaign! Great work by the young Croatian, next season he will have more and more impact on our game.

Ollie Watkins once again performed greatly in the month scoring 2 goals and reaching 17 goals for the season!

FINAL LEAGUE TABLE & VERDICT

Our second season in the top flight of English football ends and we are going to play in the Europa League next year! Our two wins in the final three matches were enough to guarantee us the 5th place. We finish the season with 72 points - just 8 points behind the 4th place which gives CL football and which is our main target in the next season! Perfect win against the new champions Chelsea in the last day of the season was the ultimate gift we can give to the fans.

We did our aim for the season - get into the top 6. Now we have to establish there for a long period of time.
We are building our legacy one step of a time, with clear purpose, also finishing the season with €50M in the bank. Brentford will be one of the top teams in England, that's what sure, we just need time! We carve our path to the glory and everybody will remember this team!

Chelsea won a domestic treble after winning the league and the FA Cup and they are the current powerhouse in the country, no doubt about that - winning almost every cup for the past 3 years.

Brentford & Norwich were the teams that surprised everyone and took out Arsenal & Everton out of the European scene for the next season. Massive results for both clubs, no wonder why we struggle so much against the Canaries.

At the bottom - awful season for all 3 clubs, absurdly low points tally for them. Bournemouth save themselves with just 30 points.

In the next episode we will get a review for the season and get ready with some interesting transfer business from us.

Thanks for reading once again & hope you enjoy it.

A Swarm Of Bees - Season 21/22 Review (EP 37)

Securing 5th place in the PL!

Our second season in the top flight of English football has ended and we can be pretty happy about it as just 2 years after getting promoted Brentford FC will play in the European competitions! We finished 5th, having some great upsets over the big dogs in the division, leaving Arsenal out of top 6 and even for a small amount of time were in top 4, just a couple of points behind the leaders.

I count that season as a successful one even though we could have been more constant and don't let another mini crisis in the Spring to trouble us. We were killing it in December & January. Everton threw us out from both cups as once again we didn't do anything special in them (4th round in EFL, 5th in FA). This year with Europe League on the horizon we will try to stay in all competition as our team will be strong enough.

We finished the year with €50M in the bank which is one of the things that I'm aiming for in the beginning. Not letting the market change our policy and spend absurd money on average players. Other financial part of my journey to not let anyone from the club for less the sum he was bough also was success.

Now that we have so many rejects from the big clubs in our B team, and we have solid players that can give us big transfer money I think the next step is finally to have a U23 team and thus an youth intake, because stealing talents is great, but if we can breed them ourselves it will be better.

We had an 11 match unbeaten streak in the Winter, also some memorable wins over Arsenal, Manchester United & Chelsea. On the other hand we still have some troubles when facing Crystal Palace & Norwich.

Here are all the results through the year:

Season Awards:

Mathias Jensen wins this year Fan Award, Lovro Majer is the Signing of the Season and Dominick Thompson wins Young Player of the Season!

Ollie Watkins finishes the season with 17 goals in the league and is 3rd, nowhere near to the 31 goals from Greenwood, but massive achievement. Alexander Isak 13 goals are enough for the 6th place in the rankings.

Goalkeepers:

1. David Raya - For third straight year Raya was sensational for us! He got 8 clean sheets (1 less than last year), saved a lot of penalties and generally was stable in most of the matches. In the beginning of the year he was wanted by Tottenham.

21. Christian Fruchtl - Turning into our Sergio Romero
as he played 8 matches (5 in cups) and allowed only 2 goals in them, keeping 6 clean sheets! Absolute monster!

25. Dean Henderson - Came in the winter and played only 1 match.

Overall: It will be tough choice who will be our main goalkeeper next year as all 3 (+ Gunnarsson who is on loan) are great! Maybe we will need to sell one of our goalkeepers in the summer.

defenders.png

Defenders:

18. Pontus Jansson (c) - Another great season for our captain! Superb defending, always in position, not letting the attackers any chances! He also contributed with 2 goals & 2 assists! True leader. Always wanted by Chinese teams. As he is now 31 years old maybe we will have to let him go if the right offer comes.

16. Thilo Kehrer
- His partner in crime, German international Kehrer had second great season for the Bees! Rock solid! He scored 1 goal in the league, but mainly covered all the spaces before our goal. With his great speed and overall qualities he will be our perfect defender for the time to come.

40. Jesus Vallejo - Mainly used when we were playing with 3 at the back, I expected much more from him. He will get another chance next year but must show us something good. Of course he cost us nothing so we can always sell him for a profit.

5. Ethan Pinnock & 30. Andrew Gravillon - Solid effort from Pinnock as he always performs good when he is used, perfect cover for the main defenders, team player! After great pre-season Gravillon was the least used defender. He had good performances, however it's not ready to be first choice.

Overall: We are really solid at the back and we don't need big investments there. I think we could sell only Pontus but only if we get serious offer in the range of €25-30M.

Wingbacks:

2. Dominick Thompson - One of our best players this year! After winning his spot in the starting XI, he never stopped improving! Running up and down the left wing, superb wingback! Delivering 2 goals and 7 assists, winning 1 Player of the Month award and winning our Young Player of the Year, Dominick has his greatest season so far! He also had the best average rating in our squad and finished the campaign with most assist!

3. Rico Henry
- Living in the shadow of Thompson, our other wingback has good season! 1 goal and 3 assists and if he got more chances I'm sure he would deliver more. Still has great future ahead of him in our club, our left wing is secured for sure!

6. Felix Beijmo - Great first season for the Swedish national! Finally we got solid player in the right wingback position! 1 goal & 5 assists for him. I'm really happy that we got him only for €4.2M from Werder, bargain!

35. Oskar Buur - The Danish player
didn't play so big part in our matches as last year, mainly because of Felix, however I'm pretty happy with his displays. 3 assists for him, always can be trusted!

Overall: Wingbacks are one of our most important players as in attack we play really narrow and we depend on their passing and crosses a lot! I always look for additions in these positions and would be no surprise if we get one in the summer.
