After months of speculation Roberto Martinez has left Wigan after agreeing to mutually terminate his contract in search of greater things for himself.Roberto said "He enjoyed his time at Wigan as manager and player, he will never forget everything the club has done with him and for him. Dave Whelan reveals that un-proven manager Josh Fairhurst is going to be the man to take the club forward and he has spoken of his excitement and ideas that Josh has in mind for the club.At the press conference Josh stated that if was a fantastic opportunity for him and as a local lad he feels he knows what the fans want and he cannot wait to get started. He also let known that he was hoping to secure a mid-table finish and hopes to achieve this at a minimum and was also hoping for a decent cup run.

After a good couple of wins in pre-season with the PSV result being the stand out result Fairhurst felt his men where ready for the new season. Pre-season brought out the best of Oxlade-Chamberlain after he produce 3 goals and 4 assist in the warm up games. Figureroa also ran out a string of great performences

As Fairhurst approaches his first game in charge he also approaches his first press conference, Fairhurst handled all questions calmly stating he was hoping for a positive start and a point from the opener against Arsenal.

Only a RVP penalty separated the two teams, Wigan managed to hit the wood work 3 times. So not to disheartened.

A game Wigan should of never lost bossed the game but wasnt deadly infront of goal and it cost us 3 points.

Al-Hasbi injury hits from the QPR game giving Butland the chance to shine

With Chelsea, City and Man United in Wigans next 5 games things didnt look to bright for the Latics untill
