Why does an Advance Playmaker not have free role (roaming)? Also what is Xavi role in the current spain formation is he an attacking advance playmaker or a attacking centre mid

The main function of the Advanced playmaker is to create and not much else. So it wouldn't be great if he was out on the touchline looking for space when you need him at the center of your attacks.

As for Xavi, well noticing Spain seem to play a 4-2-1-3 formation and watching Spain's last two matches the player seems to make lots of runs from deep while remaining a creative force. Tough one, but ill go for attacking center mid.

first bit is bang on, but hes more of an attacking advanced playmaker

Yeah I was pretty stuck between the two, Xavi isn't the type to try run with the ball though and I thought he supported Villa alot.
yeah i think the best way its that hes one without the running, just pings psses around like some demi god ( he is just scary to watch), hes certainly less direct than fabregas

IRL some would say he could be a deep lying playmaker too.

for barca certainly a deep lying playmaker, for spain hes somewhere between the two, unless fab is playing

I'm trying to create the spain formation which i think is a 4-2-1-3 ( 2 dm, 1 cm) so to get the best from xavi his role would be an att advance playmaker.

Also what about Advance playmaker on the winger would he need a free role

how can he "cut inside" when his playing central midfielder?

Xavi didn't seems to have run with the ball that much... will it be better to put him the supporting role?

Btw, what's really curious to me is the role of David Silva in those 2 matches. I thought he played like a side adv. playmaker too with an attacking role. But seems not quite possible to hv so many playmaker 2gether!

silvas role was much more agressive, he was more direct, more like an inside forward. it also didnt work very well

yaa... I think being the manager of Spain is the toughest job in the world...
u got so many world class players in the midfield, u can't dare putting any of them in the bench, but they are just playing best with the same role and wouldn't work well together!
But when the team under-performs, ppl will blame - why cesc is on the bench, why villa not torres....
