Advice for First time tactics

Well ive been playing FM for a while now and ive always downloaded tactics that others have created but now id like to create my own tactic... only problem is is that im sort of confused where to start etc.

Does anyone have any pointers/ advice i could use? Also is there no right or wrong way a tactic should be like?

If you are starting with a big team (man, chelsea etc) then I would use a flat 442, concentrate on slow tempo with decent width, decent amount of timewasting and build from there!!!
