Peel resigns as Celtic manager
View attachment 211168
Peel's last match in charge was the 4-0 win over Rangers.

Celtic manager Carlos Peel has resigned after less than a year in charge at Celtic Park.

Peel has been linked to several job around Europe including Porto, Feyenoord, Ajax and Bayern. The 23-year-old has denied already being approached for any job, although he has stated he expects to move to another club.

"As a young manager I am, I'm very ambitious and want to go on to big things. Celtic have been very generous towards me, especially the fans, but the lifestyle wasn't for me."

"I hope the fans understand my position and after winning the SPL, the Scottish Cup and the Europa League, I hope they will let me leave peacefully. I appreciate all the club has done for me, and would again like to thank the supporters."

After several successful months in charge at Parkhead, Peel has attracted some major attention from big clubs across Europe. It is thought he will have another job by the beginning of next season.

Martin O'Neil, Mark Hughes and Gordon Strachan have been made favourites for the Celtic job.

"I, and Celtic as a club, would like to sincerely thank Carlos for his time here at Celtic. He has done what many thought was unachievable in one year here at Parkhead and would like to thank him for the success he has brought us. I have no doubts he will be a top-class manager for the remaining of his career and would certainly be interested if he became available in the future."

"I understand his position and hope the fans do too. He's been fabulous for us." said Bankier.

Peel's contract ran out at the end of June, but he decided to resign to give himself and Celtic sufficient time to find alternatives.

More to follow.

well, I find it quite hard to believe some of those results, but if they're for real then truly well done and keep it up!

I'm currently thinking about starting another story, like more in-depth and personal with another club and keeping this one going as results and too the point? Would anybody like to see that, or just keep this one going then do a more in depth one at a later date? Currently thinking of OGC Nice, Lille or Valencia for the more in depth one? Any comments etc would be appreciated. Hopefully I'll be getting an update on here tonight

Do whatever you want, but personally I like the tidy layout of your normal updates most. :) Your choice obviously, and I'll follow.

I say stick to this one , i like the layout of it and want to see where you end up :)

Cheers! Just looking for some opinions as the in-depth creative writing type of story interests me, but would anyone follow it and continue to follow this?

I am definitely following mate, great season at Celtic and I really like the simple, neat layout.
For your next season you could try having more emphasis on transfers, media etc.

You could keep your same story here and your rep and still change the layout to in depth writing if you like.

What a beautiful sight.

Thursday, 24th May 2012 -- 6:53 am

The wind bristled across my face as the beautiful sunshine slowly awoke. It was cold, but beautiful nonetheless, as the waves gently hit the side of the ferry. As I looked out across the dark blue ocean, land once again came to sight after leaving only several hours before. I hadn't slept as the nerves once again crept in.

"Carl, we're nearly there. Come down for one last drink and we'll talk about your ideas"

I took one last look out across the ocean as the wind was picking up.

"Yeah, sure thing mate"

New beginnings

Saturday, 26th May 2012

"Herman Romer, The Dutch Football Daily. You sit here as the newly appointed Feyenoord manager after recently leaving Celtic in a very successful, but short, period. What are your ambitions for the forthcoming season?"

"I'm hoping for a top five finish to build on for the season after that. Last year, Feyenoord finished a very disappointing 13th, only 4 points from the relegation play-offs. Obviously I'd like to be challenging for the title, but we'll see. I'd be happy with a top five finish" Peel

"After Ronald Koeman was unable to bring much-wanted success to Feyenoord, do you feel under more pressure as a manager of such stature failed?" Romer

"Not really. Pressure is inevitable in football and you have to learn to get used to it. I'm a young, ambitious manager and I'm sure I can bring an attractive type of football in and win things" Peel

"You say you're young, maybe that's even an understatement? Sir Alex Ferguson celebrated his 70th birthday as manager of Manchester United in December. As a third of his age, do you think you can put up with the pressure?" Romer

"As I've just said, pressure is always going to happen- it just depends on how you deal with it. At Celtic, I had a hard job as people had written me off before I'd even started because of my age. I didn't waste my time by convincing them with words as it would never have worked. I did my talking as manager and now look where I am. Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter" Peel

"Maikel Verheul, The Rotterdam Football Times. What do you think of both the current staff and playing staff? Will you be making major changes, or keeping things near enough the same in terms of people at the club?"

"I'm not quite sure. I've got a long summer break now and that will be spent working with certain individuals and seeing what needs improving. Obviously people will leave for their own summer break, but I'll make sure I know how everything works before the beginning of the season" Peel

"The press conference is now closed" the head of public-relations announced.
"This way Peel.." As I stepped out of the public spotlight, I couldn't wait to be in it again. I wasn't nervous at all.

I took another glance out of the window. I had a beautiful view of Rotterdam in my hotel room. The sun was out, and the streets were busy. I'd only just awoken, but I wanted to go and see the city properly. I jumped in the shower and when I came out, put Sky Sports News on (of course I'd requested it in my room, couldn't live without it!) whilst I was getting ready. I walked into the small, modern kitchen for a glass of orange. As I was pouring it out, the presenter announced breaking news. I immediately put my glass down and walked through to the living area of my room.

What? I'd had no contact from anyone apart from Niall since Saturday? I didn't know a thing about this...

"Sources from inside the F.A say Carlos Peel will be approached for the GB Olympic football team soon. Peel has recently been appointed Feyenoord manager after winning the Europa League with Celtic. If the story evolves any more, we'll be first to let you know"

***

I unlocked my phone to text Niall but I already have one unread message.. open..

If you've heard the rumours, it's true. Already had a meeting with them for you. They rang me the other night over it but you were busy in Holland. They really want you- wasn't supposed to get out but someone obviously opened their mouths. Let me know and I'll sort it. Niall.

Is he serious?! What?! I'm just 23 and they want me to lead Team GB out at the Olympics? Never expected that in a million years, but I'm sure Niall will know what he's doing...

Yeah mate, I'm in. Keep me updated. Carl.

This is the best story I have read so far for this years fm. Just one suggestion when doing results or even at the end of the month show where you are in the league as this was missing from when you were at Celtic and made it a bit harder to follow. Otherwise you've got me hooked. Keep it up! ;)

Ah, cheers! My first ever crack at a story so hopefully I'm keeping everyone entertained. And yeah, no bother- table will be added. As I said, first crack so any suggestions etc are welcomed :)

Peel announced to lead Team GB at Olympics

View attachment 211431
Peel has a short, but very successful career so far

Carlos Peel has been announced as Great Britain boss for the Olympics in the summer

Peel has only just joined Feyenoord of Holland but has accepted to take the job over the summer. In just five months in charge at Parkhead, Peel lead the side to the SPL title, Scottish Cup and most impressively, Europa League.

"I feel very honoured to have been selected for this job. Although I am very proud of my English heritage, I will try to incorporate players from the other nations of Great Britain. I hope to bring everybody together in hope of a tournament win"

Peel has largely been over-seen by Niall Quinn during his short managerial career. Quinn first set up his contract with Celtic, whilst being their for Peel's appointment at Feyenoord. It is also rumoured Quinn set up the deal for Team GB.

"Carl's a great lad. He was very successful at Celtic and he's an ambitious lad. Although he manages players older than him, he deals with it excelently and it's a great appointment for the Olympics" said Quinn.

"Hopefully it will get him noticed more for his dream job of England national manager"

More to follow.
