**** Red Alert.

You should be demoted to a World Cup Mod for that blasphemy.

I just disagree with what the sneak peek guy said. And if I wanted to do inane quests against AI, I may as well play Farmville (as was noted). I've always preferred PvP in all games.

Yup, that seems to be the biggest problem with the game. The first lot of quests are mandatory and they're basically a tutorial for newbs, and while they all take around 5-15 minutes each they are rather dull and I can see why it would bore AoE veterans.

My city has only just reached Age 3 (out of 5) and I now have access to skirmishes against the AI, which I enjoy because I suck at PVP. PVP was unlocked midway through Age 2, and I'm yet to try it but I would imagine it's possible to just do that to level up instead of having to do the [del]campaign[/del] quests.

Where did everyone get the code?

It's quite obvious the 3rd faction is the Trojans...

and it looks meh (this coming from an old school AoE player)

Agreed. You can tell buy the map. I would have much preferred it to be the Romans, TBH.

It looks alright to me and I have also been playing since AoE. I will reserve judgment until I actually play it. IMO people are judging it too quickly because of the art style. I'm felling a bit nostalgic. I'm going to give it a good go once it is released. And why not? It is free. :)

I think they stopped being handed out a few days ago so we where just a bit too late.

Well I've got nothing against the art.

I'm just not digging what they are trying to do (which seems very limited)

and the Romans in the period of history that AoE depicts aren't much more than a few tribes and villages, Troy at the time was actually a great trade power who controlled most of Western Turkey.

From what I have seen I think it could do the opposite - add depth. I will have to play it first though. It depends how far all this persistent stuff actually goes.

I know that, but from what I can tell, historical accuracy is not really a major concern. ;)

So this was released not long ago. Anyone tried it? I just got it. First impressions are pretty good.
