The B teams don't exist anymore. They used to play in the A Championship (Tier 3) but that got abolished a few years ago.
I don't think they operated independently, they were a reserve side i think.

The B team for shamrock rovers is back, they play in the airtricity league first division, players were brought in for the team but players from the main team can be used in b team matches, I think its 3 per match.
